I've been in…read moreexcruciating discomfort for years for a medical issue I'll keep private for now; however, surgeons inside Kaiser told me surgery was too risky to perform. They also confessed by their own admission that they had no expertise or experience performing such a procedure. I found a remarkable surgeon outside of the Kaiser network who understands exactly surgically what needs to be done. Although Kaiser's policy explicitly states that if they don't have a specialist in house to do a procedure that they must cover the procedure, they refuse to do so. I've spent a year every week filing appeals and going through procedures and red tape to get this procedure approved. I felt powerless and scared. Then I met David, who has helped me beyond all possible measure. He of course is an exceptional lawyer who delivers results but he's wise and caring, especially if you're in situations where you feel you have nowhere to turn. His knowledge, focus, wisdom and desire to standup for patients is nothing short of heroic. To express my gratitude and to praise him would be to drain the vocabulary of superlatives.

Not impressed. I have been at the point of litigating twice. Both times I had to hire an…read moreattorney. The second time the case was not cut and dry but I knew I had a winnable case. It was turned down by 2 attorneys stating I didn't have a case and then a third was trying to settle my case for pennies on the dollar. At that point I had to explain to the the attorney he didn't know what he was doing and once the owner of the law firm got apprised of the details the law firm had to retain a trial lawyer to represent me and split the fee. I know what a winnable case is. I have one now. Yet DL law group not only didn't bother to get the details of my situation they actually didn't even have the integrity to notify me they weren't interested in an easily winnable case. Their loss not mine because I won't have trouble finding someone else to represent me but I would caution others out there that if Law Firms want to review cases for free they have a moral and ethical obligation to follow up with the people they are marketing their services to. Utterly unprofessional and unethical to conduct business in this manner as far as I'm concerned. This is not the conduct of an ethical company it's the conduct of an ambulance chaser. Incidentally the second lawsuit that ended up settling was for 7 figures.

Steve Ruben, (The Ruben Law Firm, https://www.rubenlawfirm.com), was my attorney for a divorce…read moreproceeding. It went very badly. I present the following points. (Please note, that if you contact me, I will put you in contact with multiple other individuals who have been wronged by this attorney. I would be happy to save you from throwing your property and perhaps children away). - Steve Ruben never conveyed to me that he had been sentence to prison and fined for criminal behavior. (United States District Court, "USA vs. Stephen B. Ruben, (Case 88 CR 988)), and banned from practicing law in Illinois). (This has been previously verified by YELP). - He has had a complaint file with the State Bar of California regarding the dissatisfaction of multiple ex clients, (See Case No. 17-O-03803). - Steve Ruben failed to have a judge sign documents served to my ex. This alone lead me to tens of thousands of wasted fees. He was chastised by the judge for lack of preparedness in my presence. - His cost estimate statement to me were constantly understated leading to huge over runs. His final comments to me, (after agreeing to have me foot a huge bill from my ex's attorneys), was, "you can no longer afford to have me litigate. - He co-wrote and performed a 'ballad' in which his 'troupe' stated among other things, (demonstrating his attitude for family law): "They lost the castle, and servants twelve They lost the cash, despite themselves But in the end both lawyers won*********** They ended up with all the funds" - An intern at his firm told me separately he was astounded regarding items I was being charged for. (The intern left the company). - He would rarely return calls, yet would bill me for listening to messages and reading emails. He encouraged me throughout to tell him 'everything' yet used none of the material. - He told me regularly that my son would be coming back to my home. After months of high fees with nothing to show, he said I had to move from SF to the East Bay to have any chance of being with my son. - He, unconscionably, regularly stated to me that he was, 'good friends' with the Commission presiding over my case, (Marjorie Slabaugh), stating that they belong to a club together and had a personal relationship. In the end he was ridiculed in court by the Commissioner for lack of preparedness and inappropriate court proceedings including speaking out of turn, not filing the correct motions, etc. - In the end, I was financially devastated. He noted we had a very good chance of settling favorably in light of a pre-nuptial agreement in place. In the end, he had me state that the stipulation of 'there will be no alimony' was not what I intended, (he said it was not legal). Everything was thrown out and I paid the first mortgage, second mortgage, all home costs and alimony and child support of well over $3,500 / month into bankruptcy. - While working full time as an officer in a corporation he arranged for me to see my son on one weekday each week, for four hours during the workday. He said this was the only way to show I cared. I lost my job over regular absences. - My ex never held a job, ever. He stated this would severely work against her. He never even brought this up in Court. I lost my home, my son was kept from me from the time he was 6 months until around 2 1/2 years, with only periodic visits, was forced into bankruptcy and had to abandon two career positions because of Mr. Rubens failure to have custody re-done. I don't wish for this to continue to happen to others. (in the end, I prevailed over the custody issue, IN SPITE, of Mr. Ruben).

Through that process I realized a good lawyer is not who immediately takes your support in the beginning. But the one who tells you the reality of your case and potential judgement. She didn't even charge for her time when most attorneys don't meet without paying a fee. She was also very responsive over the emails on my follow up questions. I appreciate that help greatly. He would tell me one thing and the tell me another thing that I'm curious when has this guy tried an actual case? It's must have been a while. ESP for a consultation, which is very poor and lacked the knowledge between family law and civil law. Funny thing is when I called back he answered because he knows this and is ripping customers off. Maybe it's time to retire after 40 hrs of law. Do not ask for consult from this guy, you are wasting your time and money. He's seems to like creating problems that are unnecessary and probably unnecessary illegal billing on customers too? He also does not not listen the customer either. Some lawyers will do this as a tactic to create customers for business which is against their own ethical laws and sworn oaths they make when they become a lawyer.

*** A L L S T A R ***…read more I hate taking the time to post on this YELP thingy and yet when someone as gifted as David Simon provides me a service worth boasting about . . . I have to make the time, albeit some 5 months later =) The nutshell version of my review: David Simon is an All Star and I'll pick him first to be on my team every time for dodge ball and Trust Estate matters. As I write this, if only you could see my smile . . . it is with immense sincerity that I recommend and say when in need of legal services that align with Estate planning, Family or Personal Injury law - Pick David Simon first and put him in your line up as lead off hitter. He'll get on base every time. David is an extremely bright attorney and has a rare blend of experience, analytical and engaging inter personal skills. I can speak directly to his achievements which he performed with radar precision in the execution of "my desired wishes" that resulted in my Living Trust, which was quite complex. I found other attorneys with whom I consulted steering me in the direction of "their desired wishes" rather than "my desired wishes". What I discovered was their desired wishes were those that fit into their "boiler plate" Trust document and made it easier for them to execute, rather than giving a bit more thought and time into putting my wishes into words. David not only tackled putting my wishes into "make sense" terms, he was instrumental in providing me with direction that I had not even yet given consideration too. He demonstrated extraordinary diligence and perseverance through out the construction of my Irrevocable Living Trust, soliciting feedback each step of the way. David Simon's meticulous approach in problem solving is exceptional and above all others I have had dealings with. Hey, if you have read this far, I'm thankful and glad in some little way I have been able to assist you in giving serious consideration to . . . picking David Simon First for your team. I am confident your engaging David Simon for your legal services will prove beneficial, resulting in favorable outcomes.
