This company is a scam. I had them come out via my warranty company to look at my pool pump. They can to a conclusion that I needed a new pool pump and they'll write it up to send to my warranty company. A couple days later, I called my warranty company to follow up and they told them that they couldn't locate the problems and then Sunbright Pools transferred me to another pool company. Went thru the home warranty for motor making a loud sound. Tech came out and said it was fine and my mom had to tell him to bend over to see the leak. He replaced a couple of seals and said the motor is fine he doesn't hear a sound. Turned it on next day still loud and now very hot from running like it's going to blow up. Sent a video and they stated can't replace due to noisy motor. Sent video to another pool vendor and they were able to pin point the problem right away. read more

I called SunBright Pool Services 7/20/22 to replace a broken valve on our pool filter system. I was told they have a $90 service however, that would be applied to bill if they did the work so I agreed to it. Next morning the tech shows up about 8 AM. I showed him the problem & he said he didn't have correct size so he ran to Home Depot to get correct size. He gets back and very quickly had problem fixed & he presented me with a bill for $234.09. Naturally I was taken back at the price, I asked about $90 applied to bill, he mumbled some stuff & I knew I needed to call office. After leaving 2 messages I got a return call, I asked the young lady about the $90 to bill? She told me he did wave service fee the $99 on bill is labor + $129 for a $2 part. The only reason for two stars and not one is they at least came out quick. Service was requested through my home warranty company. They came out and said they need to send pictures and to see if it's covered and would call me later that day. I had to call them the next day no word from them at all.Not only did they send pictures in, but they explained to the warranty company,that it was not normal wear and tear and it was my fault that the pump blew because of the Pool pressure. My Pool person, 30 years in the business, says my pool Pressure was 100% just fine The filters are a little old yes but perfectly clean and perfectly fine. He. Checks it every single week he comes out. This was not my fault but they're wording to the warranty company, got my claim denied. They quoted me $3000 to fix it. My Pool Guy said he would have everything fixed and brand new for 1200. Don't go with this company if you can avoid it. read more

If you get assigned this company through FirstAm home warranty- do your best to get assigned to another company. I filed a claim through FirstAm as my sand filter was busting water. The owner was initially responsive and set an appointment quickly to come out the following Monday. I had exchanged some messages with videos and pic of the filter seeping water The tech Jake came out and looked at our filter and indicated our sand filter would need to be replaced with a cartridge filter. He was happy to give me a quote for 2K and said if the home warranty company didn't cover it- they would be happy to do the service. It turns out First American would indeed cover the new filter, however, SunBright refused the service, so now I am put back in the queue and have to start the process over again. Bottom line- using SunBright is a waste of time if you actually want to get something fixed. read more

If you have American Home Shield, do NOT let them send out SunBright Pools. If you look at their numerous 1 star reviews, you will see a very strong theme. AHS dispatches them, and then you find out your warranty was denied for any long list of made up deficiencies due to "improper maintenance" or such. They will LOOK for any reason they can find to have your claim denied, and if they can't find anything, they will make it up. I called AHS as my pool filter cracked. SunBright came out. He looked at the filter, opened it and inspected it. Filter media was about spotless as it had been cleaned by our regular pool service tech just a few weeks prior. On his way out he stated "the pop ups (pool floor returns) aren't working". I said "yes they are, there are 4 up now, and it will rotate to the next 4 in a minute or so, and the side returns are on as well". I didn't know if he was just didn't see them, or was incompetent. But this was an indicator of what was to come. After he left, I looked at his ticket, and it stated "Pool filter failed due to over pressure". Uh, WHAT? The pressure while he was here (pool was on low speed) was at 10 psi. On hi speed it runs at 18 psi. I have never seen it above 25 psi, and the tank (as per the manufacturer: "The maximum working pressure of this filter is 50 psi. Never subject this filter to higher pressure, even when conducting hydrostatic pressure tests. Pressures above 50 psi can damage your filter." We've never reached half of that manufacturer stated working pressure, with our filter media always cleaned before it hits the recommended cleaning pressure of 25 psi. Our pool service company is on top of things. With an almost 30 year background as a commercial hi-rise building engineer, I know how to read a gauge, and the importance of checking them regularly as well as listening for unusual noises and regularly inspecting for leaks and such. There is ZERO way....ZERO he could have diagnosed an over pressure situation. Short of having a pressure data logger on the unit to record a high pressure event, or actually seeing it for himself, there is simply no way to diagnose that versus a manufacturer defect, or due to age, exposure, etc., which is precisely why homeowners purchase these warranties in the first place! At any rate, I knew my warranty claim would be denied due to his fabrication, and it was. Although SunBright Pools was gracious enough to offer to replace the bottom half of the filter for $980. Thanks SunBright!!! I'm not sure what their angle is here, but they will look for any reason to give to AHS to deny your claim. Why, I'm not sure. Incentives from AHS? Because if they would just do their job and document accurately, they would get the job as a warrantied item, no questions asked. Why risk losing the job by denying a claim, knowing a good number of people will then bid it out or DIY it as I would have? I called AHS to dispute. They gave me the option of sending out another vendor for a second opinion. If that vendor did not agree with SunBright, they would warranty the item. If the other vendor did agree with SunBright's "diagnosis", I'd be charged another service fee. I agreed to that. The other vendor came out, carefully inspected the system, actually ran the pump at normal speed (SunBright did not, it was on low speed when he was here), found we were well below desired or max operating pressures at 18 psi. I pointed to several other cracks in the filter in the same area, and he said "I noticed that. That is common with these filters, and is the main area they fail at". On his way out I asked if he saw anything that would prevent AHS from honoring the warranty. He said he did not, it had failed due to age. I said "good, because you are the 2nd opinion on this one, and the first vendor said it failed due to over pressure". He said "Let me guess...SunBright Pools?" A couple days later my warranty claim was approved, and my new filter was installed at no charge to me today by SunBright's competitor. So avoid SunBright at all costs. They are either just exceptionally lazy and content to collect the $100 call out fee, or incompetent, or are in bed with and receiving incentives from AHS to deny claims. Pull up the search bar on SunBright's review page and type in "AHS" or "American Home Shield" and you will see a very strong theme (and a crap load of one star reviews) here. SunBright, please come on to explain or dispute this accurate and well deserved poor review. As stated, I've got 30 years as a high rise maintenance engineer and engineering capital projects manager, and work on far larger and more complex and intricate systems daily than your pool techs ever will. Our pool controller stopped working, thus no pool pump in this 110+ degree weather. I called Sunbright Pools (as well as other companies) and their owner (Jason) answered after a couple of rings. They've been to our house before via our home warranty. He said he would have a technician here as their last appointment. I was thrilled! Sure enough, the technician showed up at 4:15 pm, diagnosed the problem (bad pump capacitor that tripped the pool controller breaker) and had the controller up and running within 15 minutes. If American Home Shield assigns this contractor CONTACT THEM IMMEDIATELY!! Your claim will be denied the second they walk on your property. DO NOT LET THEM SERVICE YOUR CLAIM!!! RUN! I put in my claim for a leaking 10 year old DE filter and was assigned an appointment between 10-2pm (They showed up at 7am while I was sleeping. Awesome!) I had this company deny a claim once before "DIRTY DE FILTER" when it had been serviced 2 months prior. I was ready this time. The filter was recently cleaned (2 weeks prior) and I had spent the week getting my pool levels all dialed in so there was NO WAY MY CLAIM COULD BE DENIED. Tech was there all of 10 minutes, popped off the top, took a picture and was heading out when I stopped him. He told me the claim would be denied because my filter had algae in it. I said well what difference does that make since my pressure was perfectly fine and low, he said my water chemistry was off and that's what caused it. BULLSH*T! I Immediately went to Leslies and checked my levels. PERFECT! NO ISSUES! They even agreed the guy doesn't know a damn thing and is just trying to scam me. The algae was probably from the filter not running since it's 110 degrees out and REMEMBER? MY DE FILTER HAS A CRACK IN IT?!?!? They said I would need to pay $700 out of pocket to replace the top, as if I would be stupid enough to hire the company that just lied to get my claim denied. Not the smartest business tactic to piss off someone and then ask them for work. You could have gotten the money from the insurance company but kind of shot yourself in the foot on that one! Oh and as an added benefit when I tried turning on the filter after he left he hadn't seated the top gasket properly and it's leaking 10x more now, THANKS SUNBRIGHT!!! read more

Our Home warranty company AHS sent SunBright to repair our pool equipment. They repaired some issues and told us that the pump needed to be replaced but wasn't covered under warranty. They charged us $1,500 for a pump that wasn't a variable speed pump... way too much. Then explained the pool couldn't get clean because the pop ups were broken... 26 pop ups for $95 each... $3,000 later because they weren't covered under warranty... Later I went on Home Depot website to find the pop ups for $39 retail... I understand there is labor and travel time etc. but again gouged on price... The Home warranty company and the service companies they choose have a relationship. The Home warranty company denies the claim and then the service company takes advantage. I reached out to SunBright and they told me they don't work for free. I get it but how about a fair price. read more

The technician came out to look at my pool pump while I was away. When done he called to tell me the pump had failed due to water getting inside and damaging the comoments. When I got there I noticed he hadn't even opened the case to look inside. I took the motor to a local shop, Perry's Pool Pump, and they opened it to find NO water damage or evidence of water inside. Why does this matter? Well, based on Sunbright's diagnosis American Home Shield home warranty refused to pay to replace the motor. BUT WAIT...Sunbright had the gall to call me to "offer me a discount" and replace the motor for $826. I got the motor rebuilt for under $200, no water damage found. Makes me wonder if Sunbright gets a kickback from AHS for convenient diagnosis. Shame on you both!!! read more
