When we contacted H&R Block for help, they told us they would appeal the ruling and that we would need to wait. However, the IRS letter clearly stated that the issue needed to be resolved before April 20, 2026 to avoid additional interest. Because of the time sensitivity and uncertainty, we did not feel comfortable waiting. We ended up paying the penalty ourselves to prevent further charges. This experience was frustrating. We expected more proactive guidance and urgency from a paid tax service, especially when deadlines and penalties were involved. While they may have intended to resolve it, the lack of immediate support left us handling the situation on our own.
