Cheap and cheerful Chinese food. I once complained about how fatty the ribs were and got a lecture on pig anatomy, but this is a popular place so maybe I should stick with the excellent local butcher for those! read more

It's our…read morefamilies 'go to' Chinese takeaway (I'm really sorry Mrs Lee at Davenham's Sun Ho - I love your special fried rice - please forgive me). It's small, family owned and consistent. Consistently brilliant. Our usual order is as follows: (feeds 3 adults and one bottomless-pit Brother) - Sweet and Sour Chicken; it's honestly the best I've had anywhere. Ever - Char Sui Roast Pork; again, amazing - Soft noodles; with bean sprouts and onion - 2 Egg Fried Rice or 1 Chicken/other meat Fried Rice; Tasty, non-greasy - Prawn Crackers - and one other main dish that we choose at random The family/staff who work here are friendly and super organised; when you arrive for collection (they don't deliver) the orders are spread in a fan over a silver tray - they know exactly which docket to choose from the delicately arranged pile, they pop into the kitchen and out with a bag of take-out-container filled joy. You can also opt to eat in. The restaurant is fairly small but the service is exceptional and the food is wonderful regardless of where you eat it. Car parking can be a little tricky at busy times. It's just off the main road with the car spaces in front. It's tight squeeze to manoeuvre if you're wedged in nearest the house. Also, watch out for the sneaky traffic light camera as you approach. But hey, even if you do get flashed on your way to mouthfuls of heaven - you're the real winner here.

I left Congleton when I was 18 but I still have to go back and visit regularly - I tell my friends it's to visit them but really it's to eat this Chinese food!! This place has a great atmosphere and great service - I honestly don't look at the prices of anything there any more but they've always seemed reasonable to me :) Among my favourites are the duck spring rolls, aromatic crispy duck with pancakes, sweet and sour chicken or pork, crunchy beef, Szechuan beef, basically any chow mein, chicken fried rice, they also do an amazing special fried rice for those of you who like prawns (shrimp). Just thinking about it now is making me want to book flights home! Seriously! If ever you find your self Congleton way - and I say this because anyone from Congleton already knows and loves the Happy Garden - so if you're visiting Cheshire and coming remotely close to Congleton, you have to check this place out!!

Ordered the Salt & Chilli Ribs and Green Curry Chicken. Found the ribs to be VERY dry and barely edible. The Green Curry Chicken was a small dish (think small soup bowl) and not spicy in the least. I had a pint of Asahi (pretty much the only think on tap) and wanted another but the waitress never bothered to ask me if I wanted one (nor did she refill my water). Whole meal was 13.80 pounds - suppose you get what you pay for :( Go elsewhere.

How nice is that! :) and as i order from hear quite a bit.. it would be so nice if i got free fortune cookie each time i ordered from hear :) i chinese xx

Yes the drinks are expensive. I'm not 100% but I'm sure a pint of coke (not sure if it was coca cola) was close to £2. We when to the evening menu so everything was on offer. We have also been to the afternoon menu and for the price it was rubbish. The food on offer is nothing special. I've had better but I would have to travel further into Manchester City Centre.

I've converted quite a few people into fans. I tend to use this place as a takeaway more than an eat in place as its not too far to go and it's cheaper to take it home and eat it. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is a very good standard, far better than most chinese takeaways I've been to but I think that's due to it being a restaurant too which pushes the standard higher. This is a popular place on a weekend so if you're eating in it's probably a good idea to book a table, if you can't get booked in then just order a takeaway. The only downside is they don't do delivery as they are very busy so you have to get it yourself.
