As soon as I retire (probably the next day...) I'm joining the Elks Lodge. They keep the place clean and neat, and the food offering for Wine Walkers is always good. Some days it's REALLY good! I guess it depends on whether they had an Elk function the previous night and have leftover goodies. Some days we go in and the bar is packed, and the members are always friendly folks. It's one of the reasons we're going to join when we retire. We like friendly folks...

From the minute you walk in the door you know you've arrived where the party is. The bartender during the Wine Walk is Ed, and Ed pours a tasty drink. From wine in a goblet to a Martini over ice, Ed's got it mastered. I have not visited the Elks Lodge at times other than the Wine Walk, so I can only comment on the food that is offered during that time. The ladies of the Elks Lodge make up the sumptuous array of foods and also see that the table is kept replenished during the day. Great job ladies! I would definitely recommend the Elks Carson City Lodge to visiting Elk members and Wine Walk attenders alike. Go on in and join the fun.

Took my wife and daughter 5 minutes to rinse shampoo out of their hair. The bathroom door is a slider that does not close or conceal the person using it. Large gaps. Not enough privacy. The pool bathrooms were horrible. Urine on the floors aswell as wet towels and toilet paper everywhere. The handicap bathroom at poolside the door didn't close good and got stuck many times.. the pool ceiling had many many leaks aswell as faded peeling paint . The snack bar was by far an insult. $6 for a cheep burrito $250 for a standard chocolate bar. Sodas we $2 and the microwaveable foods were $6 plus dollars for the very same food sold in stores for half the cost. The price gouging was absurd. Now the complementary breakfast was terrible. Paper thin over cooked bacon with under cooked sliced potatoes that were un seasoned. The powder eggs were not even recognizable. Our mini fridge and TV had been unplugged and I asked for help to see what was wrong. Desk clerk said unplug the TV then plug it back in and it should work. Well that obviously was wrong. I had to pull the whole counter and desk out to get to the DC outlet noticing that they were just unplugged. As a handicapped guest I shouldn't have to figure no repair anything. We had no choice we we snowed in. Spare yourself the money and drive past this place..

George was so easy to deal with, he was very friendly and made the reservation so easy. He explained the charges, the cabin, and answered any questions I had about my trip out there. After booking, he also sent tons of information regarding restaurants, shopping, and things to do in the area, and put me at ease regarding our trip from Florida out to Tahoe. The cabin was awesome, and exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable and cozy, and very easy to get to off the main highway. Two bedrooms with very comfortable beds, closets, and dressers gave us plenty of room to store our clothes and supplies, and offered a great night's sleep. The bathroom was clean and exactly what we needed. The living room was also very comfortable with LOTS of room. Nice couch, table, and a good sized TV with cable and a DVD player. The kitchen and dining room area was also great- everything you'd need for your home away from home. Pots, pans, dishes, cups, utensils, coffee maker, microwave, fridge & freezer, oven, dishwasher- there literally was nothing we needed on this entire trip that wasn't in the cabin already. It was just such a great place to stay, and compared to the price of local hotels (especially those near Heavenly), it was so much more for way less of a price. Very easy to get to from the highway, and minutes from the resorts, stateline, casinos, and tons of restaurants and things to do. I'm very glad I found this place, and so happy I chose Bernie's Place as my cabin to stay at during my trip to Tahoe. Definitely give George a call, or check out the website if you're looking for a cabin in the area. Great place for a great price- and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Definitely recommended, and I will be staying here again on my next trip to Tahoe.

There was ample space so everyone had a bed and it was spread out enough so the guys could hang out down in the pool room while getting ready and the gals could get ready upstairs. The view at the home is absolutely breathtaking and the hot tub perfectly overlooks the lake and mountains. All of the stunning views and scenery gave for some pretty epic and gorgeous photos to capture our big day. Josh and Blue Sky Events worked together to make everything run seamlessly the day of our wedding; even when the heater broke on the tent during the rehearsal dinner and the caterer's generator died before our food could be made the day of the wedding. Josh was there doing everything in his power to make things work and make our day great. He was clear on what rules needed to be minded and checked in with us throughout the weekend to make sure we had what we needed. He was always making sure everyone was having a good time and was a great person to hang out with too. Most wedding venues in Lake Tahoe make you use their caterers, don't let you do unique things like bring a late night munchie food truck or anything outside of their own packages and for some people that's great but for us, we wanted flexibility and Fjeldheim allowed that for us so we could have a day that was perfectly us.

If you're looking to spend a lovely couple of days in Lake Tahoe and need a place to stay, this is the place for you! Talk about paradise; look no further. Tahoe Mountain Home is a 9,000 square foot private vacation home that can house 30+ people easily. Sitting high above the lake, this property offers awesome views overlooking the lake. I recently came over the weekend with a group of friends and was able to discover all that this property has to offer. The house offered over eight bedrooms and sleeping for the entire guest, all the rooms come with their own name; honestly, I felt like I was in a mansion! My mouth dropped as I drove up the one-way hill to get to the house, the place is HUGE! There were different access ways to the entrance, a fabulous hot tub in the back of the house that fits 4-5 people comfortably and a big parking lot that fits over 10 cars easily. This place is exceptional! The house is located 5-10 minutes from all of the fun entertainment including the casinos, restaurants, and bars and lounges. We took Uber every night and didn't have an issue at all. Now, on to the BEST part, it was SNOWING the WHOLE.WEEKEND. I have yet to experience snow before, so this was not only fun for me but exciting! Now, driving in the snow was not exciting at all, trust me, but playing in it was FUN. On the last night of our stay, we received emails and news reports that there was a blizzard coming and that we may be snowed in. Okay, I became scared once I received the news, but that quickly changed when we had the housing manager come over. Josh is the 'housing manager' and the night I became very anxious about the snowstorm, he came over with his lovely dog and informed our group that we were going to be Okay. He discussed the weather and even asked all of us for our car keys while he plowed the driveway so we can leave much easier to leave for the next-day departure. Can you believe that he moved all 10 cars and plowed the driveway all by himself? OMG, bless his heart! After Josh left, my group advised me that Josh is a wonderful guy that comes throughout our visit to check in with us. I was so touched by the personal touch. This property, as well as Josh, deserves MORE than 5 stars! Yelp, we really have to work on expanding the 5 stars (emoji: smiles). I definitely would recommend staying at this property. I look forward to my next stay. Thank you, Josh, for your amazing hospitality during our stay!

As a military brat, this organization holds a special place in my heart. I have donated to this cause for fifteen years, including posting a reminder daily on my Facebook page to vote for VGH to win a large donation from Home Depot years ago. And, yes, they won! Finally, I visited their wonderful facility at their annual open house on December 9, 2023. I am so pleased to see that we are helping our Veterans and their families with lodging while the Veteran receives medical attention at no cost to them! Many companies and other groups provide dinner nightly for those staying there! If you have a minute, you might want to take a quick tour to see how VGH "spends" our donations and I believe you will also be impressed. Please keep in mind that VGH operates solely on the donations of our local community! There are reading areas, a laundry room, TV rooms, and bedrooms from single beds to family-sized all with bathrooms, large open community areas like the kitchen and dining area. Please remember that our Veterans signed a blank check when they served our country and now we can help them!

Several times a year I drop off various greeting cards for the guests to use, as well as various dental items. They also accept cash and gift cards to several area stores. Throughout the year VGH has a few fund raisers. October is Boots to Fashion. A fabulous event at a Reno casino ballroom that includes a champagne three course lunch, raffle and auction items and of course a fashion show. Women veterans of all ages and branches donate their time walk the runway and show off the latest trends in women's clothing from local shops. A fabulous event that honors the many women in the military. Why are fund raisers needed ? Because VGH provides US military service veterans and their families a place to stay in Reno while they are receiving medical treatment at the VA Center or other area facilities. The House is like a small hotel with a common area living room and kitchen. It is not associated the Veterans Administration. Guests are suggested a $25 a night donation to help defray costs, but no one is refused for lack of funds. The house, located across the street from the VA Hospital, is a non-profit, and receives no state or federal money for its day to day operations. Huge kudos for everything the VGH does for the veterans. Thank you sir and mam for your service. For more info - veteransguesthouse.org

The hand soap was diluted with water with barely any soap left. i guess they're really cutting back on expenses. hot water for the shower was hard to find. every time i took a shower, it was painfully cold. & note, i visited this place while it was 17 degrees outside. it was like i was running naked thru the snow. the 3 electrical sockets in one of the rooms were out of order, so it was difficult to charge laptops, phones or ipods. on top of that, no wifi. also, the arcade machine and the directtv did not operate correctly. i felt i was traveling back in time because all the magazines were from 2005. this place seriously needs an renovation and current periodic publications. although, i'll praise the location of the house on the hill, which has a wonderful view of Lake Tahoe. i liked how it's in driving distances to rite-aid and safeway. also, the house itself was really comfortable, but it lacked personality, taste and some homely necessities like cleaning agents and cooking materials. a few things about the house. it has 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a loft with 2 twin beds, 2 balconies, fireplace, and bars up & downstairs (alcohol not included). the house was okay but there were too many obstacles for a supposedly "relaxing" vacation. i would look around before considering staying here again.
