You order at their beautifully displayed fish counter (English is good enough to get what you want) and find your seat on their canopied deck (with heaters - no indoor dining here) overlooking a rocky jetty and beach. I had the smoked shrimp which was handed over on a paper plate, and my husband ordered the smoked salmon with sides - a dollop of sour creamy Swedish potato salad, a small lettuce/tomato/cucumber salad dressed with olive oil and vinegar, and a slice of dark bread with butter - which was brought to our table. The reason this place got a 5-star rating from us is that smoked fish doesn't get any better than this - the chili salmon was well-seasoned and expertly smoked, so good that my husband (a true smoked fish lover) went back for a piece of their lemon pepper smoked salmon as his dessert. It was almost creamy in texture with excellent flavor. My head-on smoked shrimp were peel-your-own and loaded with roe, nice texture and flavor without being over-smoked. The counter offers three dipping sauces - a traditional sour cream/dill sauce, a creamy "roe" sauce, and a sweet mustard/dill sauce. I noticed other diners enjoying fried fish, boiled/steamed shrimp, and French fries as well, so there is a range of seafood options available. Nothing fancy here - just top-notch smoked seafood at reasonable prices.

This spot was one of three options for Brunch and ended up winning as none of us had ever visited…read more We walked into an inviting and stately space with a Diner twist. A bar in the middle and mixed seating with table cloths gave it a fine dining feel. They are known for their extensive Wine and Champagne list and that definitely lived up to the billing. We ordered a bottle of Zuccardi 2021 Torrontes-light, fruity and paired perfectly with Brunch. Extensive list of Brunch selections that came out as a Seafood tower- Shrimp from Smögen, king crab, prawn salad, crayfish in garlic, seafood salad, cured fjord salmon, herring, fish pâté, smoked salmon, langoustine, cucumber and horseradish salad, eggs, bread, sauces-all so fresh and delicious! Fish and Chips were tasty and we finished with a White Chocolate Mousse. Service was friendly-that said, could've been more attentive. We did have a chance to speak with the owner and he shared how they've recently redesigned their interior. For our party of four, about $60 USD or 600 SEK per person for a Seafood Lover's Brunch. Lives up to "the city's coolest Sunday Brunch" billing!

The wine list looked okay - with a minimum price per bottle probably close to $60. Any wine can be had by the glass, with the price of the glass simply a quarter price of a bottle - don't know how big the pour is. As the result, my choice of drink was sparkling water. The restaurant offers the tasting menu with 3 dishes, but somehow I didn't feel like dessert (one of the 3 dishes), so I decided to create my own tasting menu. My first dish was seafood soup, some sort of a bisque, which was good but not necessarily a standout. For the second dish I was looking for something reasonably priced, so I ended up with the white asparagus creation, which again was okay, but rather small for the entrée dish - I guess you get what you pay for. Service was friendly but rather slow. No recommendation on this one - may be someone will make better choices.

Oh my god! Have you seen that Hörte Brygga was mentioned in the NY Times as a place to visit? And…read morerightfully so. This place was magical when I visited this summer. Let me paint you the picture. You sit by the small harbor with the small boats bobbing up and down. You can picture their early morning fishing adventures. You look around and see endless variations of genuine outdoor tables, sofas and chairs- all belonging but still surely collected by a whim. On a stand you see the chefs towels gently blowing in the wind. The sun burns in your face and the murmur around you soothes (you ready to jump in your car yet?). Anyway, that was the setting. Magical like I said. When you go inside to order the food, the hipster vibe hits you in the face (you can pretend ALL you want that you are annoyed with the hipster folks but they do amazing things. Enough said.). Inside it's like assemble your own meal, smoke your own salmon, pickle your own veggies- fastfood McDonald's kind of thing going on. I mean, I can not handle. Too many choices and my brain checks out. Thank god for my sister in law though who had been there before and took charge. I went back to the outdoor pretty picture and awaited the food. The food. Hands down the best smoked salmon I ever had. And the sides were amazing. Pickled this and pickled that. Smoked picked carrots? Yum! And the presentation was just so good (I know I sound just a tiny bit extatic). The price was super humane. I think 110 SEK per person. It was also rumored that when my sister in law was there, they smoked and barbecued a wild boar although it was allegedly sold out when they wanted it. In conclusion, who knows if this awesome dish ever existed. So, please, save your moneys where ever you live and make a visit next summer!

You simply go out to the chef station with your"Ticket" and he prepares the course right in front of you. The food is all sourced locally and my rabbit even had a metal BB, still inside as it was just hunted the day before. We chose the drink pairing and each one is individually selected based on our discussions with the waiter. The wine, elder flower liquor and dessert wines were fantastic! The weather was perfect, the sun was setting... This is a magical place by the sea.

When In Sweden, when in Lund and most importantly when in raw-fish abstinent the best place to get…read moreyou fixed is at Zen Sushi & Tea! This is where you want to go for the best as well as affordable & reliable SH#@ or fix! I'll only recommend two sushi joints in Lund! One appeals to the green and environmentally-correct personality of mine, needless to say aside from great taste, value and quality! The other, Zen Sushi & Tea is where I go to silence the cravings that might not be so attuned to the red fish list! Occasionally I can't help myself wanting to enjoy species such as tuna and prawns! Also I might add that the black & white design is charming as well as sober and suiting! Now to why this place is a (guilty) pleasure of mine; Nigiri pillows that will not fall apart, go ahead laugh but remember this is Sweden we do frequently mess up with the rice. The rice pillows are well-seasoned and in good sweet contra sour- harmony. Fresh fish slices that are cut perfectly thick or thin depending on whether your pleasure happens to be Sashimi or Nigiri! The usual Cali or salmon rolls are spot on, but they do offer Makis with twists and I do urge you to order such. I for one love the shake garlic roll that is made with garlic marinated salmon as well as spring onion which adds a great texture to the roll. Another roll to love, depending on how one might feel about Saffron, is the Golden Gate Roll. The ironic taste of the Saffron adds another dimension to the sweetness of prawns and avocado! I do also love the spicy tuna roll which get its zing from the Kimchi-mayo (chili & garlic) and especially when upgraded to the inferno version which is grilled and even hotter. If you, much like me, think highly of lemon, be sure to try the Lemon Suprise Roll where you get lemon marinated prawns as well as lemon zest, the fusion in between the citrus and nutishness from the sesame seeds is exciting! To be honest the biggest problem I have with Zen is the lack of tofu and leek in the ever so too zingy or chili-spicy Miso soup. I love Zens innovation abilities but one this one they gone a little too far. The saltiness together with the smokey flavor accompanied with this much chili doesn't add or improve the soup. It becomes ratter an unpleasant roller coaster ride on the taste buds! Also Zen offers only 3 hot dishes and they nowhere near the sushi served in terms of quality, authenticity and value. The Yakiniku beef neither is tender nor offers the required depth. Furthermore the reason behind added Kimchi-mayo to the dish is a mystery to me! I would also have liked Zen even more if the fish selection wasn't this limited and predictable. Nevertheless as long as you are at Zen to get help with your raw fish cravings you wont find many other words best to describe it than; bravo, bravo and bravo!
