I studied with Juliana for 12 years. I learned so much through her. She is a wonderful teacher and woman. During my entire time studying with Juliana, she always made sure I focused on the fundamentals with Hanon and Czerny, while expanding my musical repertoire. My favorite song that I learned while I was with her was Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu. She also taught me music theory, which has been immensely helpful for me as I picked up additional instruments, like the guitar and drums, and as I continue to play piano today in a church setting. She holds an annual recital for her students, and it's great to see the varying degrees of talent perform under her instruction. She enrolled me in music festivals as well as competitions, and developed my talent as a musician. She pushed me to become better, and didn't settle for mediocrity - admittedly, while I was younger, I had a hard time practicing, and she would immediately be able to tell, and would push me to become better. As a result of all of my years of learning piano, I can confidently say that I have a deeper appreciation and love for music because of Juliana.
She has a skill for identifying the talent of her students as well, and is great at recognizing potential, and developing that potential into something greater. I believe that this is something that sets Juliana apart from other teachers, as she truly is a coach in that sense, and not just a drillmaster. She has that ability to adapt and adjust her teaching and style for each individual student.
She is also such a kind person and truly cares not only for the performance and development of her students, but also for their well-being. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to study with Juliana and learn from her. She not only loves teaching piano, but also has a passion for music in itself. I remember all of the times she would demonstrate how to play a song, or when she would introduce a new song to me by playing it, and she played those songs with passion. She exemplifies who a teacher should be. read more
