We browsed their jewelry and there is a very nice engagement ring section with many different settings and a way to interchange the different diamond shapes onto the ring to see what style you prefer. I dropped off my ring with Anthony on a Saturday morning. It needed 2 diamonds replaced and the bottom of it was starting to crack, which I didn't even know was happening until Anthony pointed it out. We were told the repair would be around $630, as it needed a half shank. We tried to ask about other options, even a new setting. Just to see what was available. They would not even show us any settings, saying it would be around $2k. They suggested coming back in 3 weeks because of the pinched skin. They said my ring size would be different than it has been for 38 years, even though my ring still fit perfectly. Apparently they assumed we were bums and had no money. We were literally given the brush off! My husband recently purchased a pair of earrings for me there and has made several purchases over the years. We went to another local jeweler, we were greeted with a smile, they gave us all our options, showed us new settings. Examined the broken ring closely and said it not only needed a shank but the prongs were worn. We got a quote of almost half of your quote, to do a more extensive repair. We will no longer ever purchase from James Douglas Jewelers again.

The gentleman helping me took a look, assessed the breaks (slightly different in each necklace; one had to lose one crystal which he returned to me) and said putting them back together would take just a moment and I could wait. In under five minutes he had repaired both of them and assessed them for any impending breaks I was not aware of.
