Okay, so I told myself I would make it a point to visit one high end restaurant in every city I…read morevisit on round two of my Europe tour, and I've failed up to this point. Fortunately, Amsterdam helped to redeem me. Enter Le Garage.
Service: Above and beyond. Special shoutout to Erwin. A Southern France native, he was so attentive that it put many of my other high-end restaurants to shame. From taking my coat to taking my picture to putting my coat back on for me, he was so incredibly sweet. Also, the moment I switched to French it was like he loosened up to his natural self-- which if anything was even sweeter.
Ambience: Rich. Velvet seats, beautiful lights that weren't overdone. I felt classy but not gaudy.
Food: Started with a fish soup with mussels. I nearly cried. The fish reduction was sublime. I had some bruschetta and cheese to go with it. Could a girl be happier? Yes, because this was followed with a Braised Seabass on a bed of salad. I can't even remember what was in it because I was so distracted with the bass. Finally, for dessert a Chocolat Moulin. Basically, molten lava cake with a vanilla ice cream accompaniment.
Drinks: My first drink was a 2017 Sauvignon Blanc to pair with my fish. Crisp. Second was a 2018 Muscat dessert wine to go with my Chocolat Moulin.
Everything was delicious. This two star Michelin rated restaurant was everything I wanted and more. I will most definitely be back and recommend it to my friends visiting next year.
As always, happy eating and drinking. MarieMG
