The service is solid but not sparkling, the pub itself is standard Wetherspoons decor, and the menu is exactly the same as all the others across England. What I will say about this pub is that the beer is good and also local (more so than the other Wetherspoons in Leicester) with a decent range of ales from the nearby Grainstore brewery, which is located in neighbouring Rutland. The atmosphere is pretty friendly but there are bouncers on busy (weekend) nights and the pub gets extremely busy. Despite this, the lack of music means you can still hold a conversation and the bar is unusually accessible despite the high volume of people. This is a good place to have a couple of pints before going clubbing or to a noisier bar. The rest of the week, there are chances to grab pretty good and cheap meals. There's the always-available beer and burger deals (£5 for the standard combo or £6.50 for the gourmet version which adds onion rings and bacon). On Sundays, there's a roast dinner option and Tuesdays and Thursdays are steak night and curry night respectively. All the deals include a drink and any of the real ales can be chosen, which is good if you're into your beer! All in all this is probably the best Wetherspoons in the city and definitely well placed in terms of clubs and night life. You could do a lot worse than pay it a visit!

It is a good pub to start the night off in as the drinks are cheap and they often have good promotions on drinks too. There are plenty of seating areas too. Also it is a good pub to pop into for a drink in the day time if you are shopping in town as it has a relaxed daytime atmosphere. They don't have music in this pub so it is not one to go in if you want to have a dance, but it does get busy so there is a good atmosphere. They do food which is the normal type of pub food such as lasagne, fish or burgers although I have never eaten here. It is a pub which is suitable for all age groups and I would recommend a visit.

Fortunately, this one is split over two levels with most of the power drinkers congregating around the bar area on the lower level. Good value food & drink. Not to mention the decent range of ales, spirits and wines that are at fair prices too. I think one of the most appealing features of the pub is the family atmosphere, and there have always been a lot of activities for kids of a variety of ages that they are always improving/expanding. On my last visit a few months ago, there was a very large soft-play area with ball pits and a large outdoor climbing frame. The only negative thing that I could say about the pub is that it can get quite cramped on a Friday/Saturday night especially.

Although it is busy, the atmosphere of the pub is amazing and the staff are very helpful. The meals can sometimes take a little long and the menu is a bit expensive, but the food is great! I recommend the chicken pie if you are going there for the first time, and if you have kids the pizza is nice as well. Overall I think the pub is great and if you have eaten there you should pop over to the green man across the road and have a game of pool or darts! The village it is in is very small and cosy, which makes for a great night out. If you are in the area I definitely recommend it.

We didn't arrive here until after 9pm and were slightly concerned that they wouldn't still be serving food, but luckily they keep going until 10. The menu was quite extensive but mainly included typical pub grub, nothing that looked like it was particularly likely to tickle the taste buds. I decided on the confit duck on the waitresses recommendation. Unfortunately, it didn't have the usual melt in the mouth texture that a confit dish usually has, instead it tasted like it had just been popped into the deep fat fryer! The roasted veg that accompanied it were also slightly over cooked and the whole dish was a bit of a disappointment - it's always a bad sign when I don't finish a meal! My dining companion had the mixed grill, which was basically just a large plate of meat, however he looked pleased enough with his dish. All this was washed down with a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which certainly helped to cleanse the palate. The restaurant was also mega-hot. Another institution that has decided to slam on the central heating on the 1st October, regardless of the ambient temperature. On the plus side, the staff were all lovely and chatty, which has probably just scraped them three stars instead of the intended two. Geez, I'm a push-over...

OWH is the old style, log on fire, low lights, country pub from romantic films based in the Scottish Highlands but with better fittings and a Tapas menu. The main and Tapas menus have a good range of dishes but are on a slightly higher echelon than regular pub grub, which keeps with the whole atmosphere of the place. The highlight, other than the many event nights (Tusedays for movies), has to be the large garden with patio heaters and a long covered area with more heaters. Really good for the BBQ parties in the summer (if they ever come back). As well as all these features, the OWH also boasts a function room for private parties. A class act of a pub, high standards both inside and out with food and service to match.

This trip was the turn of The Earl of Dalkeith in Kettering. Parking just around the corner was easy. Nice pub that is a little like the TARDIS. There have been times when it, obviously, had been cooked a while back but here it was off the griddle and hot, tasty and plentiful. Service was friendly, fast and professional. The only one drawback about the Earl is, I feel, tables could have been cleared more quickly and wiped down. Remember, COVID is still here. Otherwise great stop off.
