I hate to criticise any charity shop, but the Sue Ryder shop in Kingstanding is an absolute waste of space.
I love mooching in the row of charity shops along Hawthorn Road but this is one shop that I don't think I've ever bought anything in.
The selection just isn't good enough to interest me, I particularly like looking at the kids' clothes in charity shops but the available clothes in here are just thrown on a rail and not in very good condition. I know the stock in charity shops all depends on what has been donated, but it seems as though Sue Ryder send any old rubbish to this branch whereas other branches have a much better selection of decent second hand items.
Ladies clothes? Forget it. An absolute load of rubbish, honestly if you're looking for something to wear to a worst outfit party then you'll probably find something suitable in here! They also sell shoes that look as though they are on their last legs, appallingly charging almost new prices for them! I've even seen second hand bras in here, which is just plain nasty.
The book section is OK I suppose, although they are priced higher than other charity shops along the road. I'd much rather walk a couple of hundred yards to the next shop and pay 99p than £1.99 as books are available new in the supermarket for this price!
Oh, I forgot. I have bought something from the Sue Ryder Shop in Kingstanding - a Nat West Piggie money bank which I've wanted for years. It cost me a fiver which was cheaper than I was expecting to pay so I was quite pleased with that! read more
