I was strolling through the Designer Outlets center and saw this "Fry Factory". I thought at first…read moreit would just be fries, but was surprised to spot poutine on the menu. Upon closer look I see it's specialized in "Canadian Street Food". As a poutine fan, I figure why not?
The ambiance is definitely the industrial loft vibe, as one would expect from a "Manufacturer of fries". The fry machine is massive - "Luke Frywalker". This location has outdoor seating as well, with some indoor seating. You enter and there are several terminals to place your order, touchscreens with payment terminals like McDonald's has. But bring your Visa card, because at Frittenwerk they don't take American Express. It does accept tap to pay methods including Apple Pay, however.
I ordered the classic, but it did ask if I wanted to pick from several selections of fries. Garlic fries intrigued me as an option, and I felt it would lend well to the poutine gravy. It did not disappoint as an option. I also ordered a side of coleslaw, which had a creamy, mustard-y flavor and crunch.
I've had better poutine sure, but for a poutine shop in Germany this was not bad at all. It's a very good take on poutine, with ample gravy melting the cheese, and the fries held up well. My only critique is that as a chain, in the name of efficiency they have diced mozzarella instead of the more traditional Quebec cheese curds, but it worked.
Definitely hits the spot as an alternative to Döner.
