Bacon and egg hot sandwich very tasty- their bacon tasted better than any that I've had in England before, not sure if it's a Scottish thing or a Dotty's thing. The coffee was lovely and came in many options such as cappuccino, americano, etc.. the 'fresh orange juice' came in a bottle, so not quite would I consider fresh, but other than that, it was great. From the roadside it looks to have been a former failed petrol station, replaced with a sort of hut selling sandwiches & baguettes. From their menu boards they sell breakfast rolls and filter coffee, even though there are no facilities to eat inside there is a seating area out the back, four breakfast rolls, two coffee's & a juice was a little short of £20. This shop was one of the few eateries that we saw on our way home.

Their bakery case is clearly labeled with what's gluten-free, what's dairy-free, and what's vegan. We got empire cookies that were absolutely lovely (we should have gotten two more to bring home!): buttery shortbreads filled with jam, topped with icing, and a sugared jelly candy. We enjoyed them with an iced Americano (soya for me, oat for my partner) sitting outside in the sun at the Cross Well. While they were SUPER busy on a midweek day, the staff was friendly, patient, and went out of their way to find us to hand us our cookies and drinks when they were ready!

The Sandwich Shop is like most Scottish establishments of the same nature- tiny eating area and carb-heavy food. But one way it differs is selection- although primarily offering 'breakfast rolls' (served all day) and sandwiches, the possible filling combinations are many. Relatively rare items- such as jalapenos- abound. Another way it differs is value. For just over 5£ I got this: a sausage link breakfast roll; a small soup of the day (tomato and chorizo sausage); a salami sandwich with lettuce and jalapenos, in combo form alongside a bag of salt & vinegar Walkers crisps, and a bottle (yes, bottle- not a can) of sugar-free Irn Bru. All that for JUST OVER 5£. My meal filled me up and that is rare. But here's the kicker, Yelp- the woman who made my sandwich- she literally covered it in jalapenos. This was not a typical, single salad-tong-full of four or five slices spread over the length of the sandwich. She carefully placed the jalapenos in a spicy blanket over the entire surface area.
