O'Brien's is a made-to-order sandwich/salad bar with fixings and topings a cut above your typical…read moreglobal-international-McWorld sandwich bar, without having to pay a premium. I have business with a customer regularly at this corporate estate, and this O'Brien's is always my first-choice place to eat. Everything seems fresh, home-made, and NOT thought up by a food engineer with a propeller on his beenie, who grew up on American processed cheese-food. The basil pesto is awesome, the brown bread is hardy and flavorful. My typical is fresh-mozzarella, sun-dried tomato, pesto, toasted on multigrain bread (although, they use the Brit term "granary" bread...which doesn't sound like something you're suposed to eat to me), with a packet of crisps, and I can usually get in and out for less than 4 pounds. I tried breakfast there recently, and while the muesli in the yogurt was mushy, the toast was good. Still...unless you like a bacon sandwich, I'd wait until lunch time.

They do a great range of baguettes , and I like to treat myself to a spot of lunch there. Prices are very reasonable and the staff very friendly. They have a good range of sandwiches as you'd expect. The shops not that big and they are always busy 7 days a week. This is one of my favorite restaurants...ever :)…read more The thing I particularly loved (and I think they're famous for) was the Kasesuppe, or beer soup. It was so rich and flavorful and cheesy and delicious..unlike anything I've ever tried before or since. It's hard to describe exactly what it's like (since it's different from any other soup I've tried) but suffice it to say we both (my boyfriend and I) absolutely loved it. This was on a road trip my bf and I took to Portsmouth btw, and I want to come back to the city just to go to this restaurant again! :) We also got a Croque Reuben (sandwich for me, large portion), Pork Belly (for him), Manniere Moules et Frites (mussels dish - Classic moules with garlic butter, white wine and parsley, served with toasted sourdough), Brugse Zot Sport (beer for him), Kwak (Kwak amber beer, cream, orange and fennel for me) and Orangina. The main dishes of pork belly (Pork belly slowly roasted in Lindemans Apple beer, served with Stoemp and seasonal vegetables, finished with apple beer and mustard reduction) and Reuben sandwich (Grilled sourdough sandwich with Gruyère and Cheddar, sliced pastrami, sauerkraut, gherkins, Emmental and Russian dressing) tasted great, and portions were really generous! Staff were friendly also and it was just a great time :))
"Hoe gaat het?"…read more You'd be forgiven for thinking that a question like this would be greeted by a fond response in a Belgian bar, but, alas not. The Good: The beer is authentically Belgian/Dutch. The nibbles too. The bar staff are friendly. The couches are comfy. The Bad: The bar is a little bit Disneyland Antwerp. The staff aren't equipped with any Dutch. The French radio piped in is very annoying after an hour or so. The Ugly: There is a God awful high-pitched whine when the beer is being poured from tap. So if you're Dutch or Vlaams and you're missing some home comforts stop in, bud don't expect this be become a home away from home.

It could not have been easier to work with them. Disclaimer, my wife is now addicted to the yoghurt shakes, and they once teased her saying that the machine had broken - she nearly lost it! It really put me of my sub! Normally get served fairly quickly, and there were plenty of places to sit, it's a medium size place and they keep it clean. Subway's sub of the day deal is great for £1.99 you get a nice big 6 sub. They do a number of promotions too, I've won plenty of drinks, cookies and subs that way! Their coffee and choice of soft drinks is pretty average. I like their choice of breads and the herby cheesy ones my favourite. Also they have a good choice of sauces, and I really like the sweet onion one.
