Now I see why people recommend double meat.
Adam N.

I haven't been to Dayton much over the years, and now I come here for work. When in Cincinnati, I found a few pretty good local places. In Dayton I'm 0 for 2. I was craving a sub, and wanted to try something local. I love a good philly cheese steak minus the onions. At SH, there is much more that goes on a sub. Oils. Greens. Other things. I have no idea why. A philly steak is meat, cheese, onions, peppers. Take away all of the extra garnish they offer and you're left with a sandwich that's at least 70% bread and 30% meat. I didn't have a philly cheese steak, I had meat flavored bread. The flavor wasn't anything special, and there wasn't a lot of cheese in there. Seems like if I refuse all the extras, they should throw on a little more of what I do want. The fries were pretty great, so that was a plus. I just don't have a lot of great things I can say. I feel dumb for tipping, that's for sure. Next time I'll hit Penn Station. I know they'll do me up right!

I have to say that this place is great. I came in town from Los Angeles, CA and I wanted something that was different from what I can get in California. My parents suggested subs. I was not interested in getting a sub... I mean how different can subs taste here compared to California?? I ordered the super chicken cheese steak and the super turkey deluxe along with some fries and a couple oatmeal cookies. I must say I was very impressed with the quality of the subs. They were hot and wrapped in foil and so good. Everything was tender and so delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone hungry looking for that local taste. Friendly customer service and decent prices. While I waited to pick up the subs they also gave me a free soft drink. Btw kids eat free BTWN 4-8pm! I ordered 3 subs that fed 4 people and we were all full afterwards.

Lacking in the meat department. The meat only covered half the sub.

We love their subs! It's a ways away from us but we stop every three weeks or so because the subs are terrific!

Just a note...its NOT a bar. They just have a few beers in a cooler. Good food though.

Got a large meatball sub. It took a long time to make for some reason, but it was pretty good. Wasn't as good as Firehouse but pretty close.

They make awesome sandwiches every time. The store is family owed and operated. Very friendly folks. I like the 70's decor too.

Great taste of sub but very expensive for 3 four inch subs. Penn station was comparing to the taste and half the price

My only slight complaint that I would say as a word of caution is that I found the pepper relish to be a little over powering.

We are from Columbus so this was our first time stopping in here. It's a really cool place with a…read morereally cool backstory. The decor is awesome. The bar has a firetruck behind it. The sauces are all good. The service was great. The sweet tea was on point. My husband and I always get the same thing when we go to bbq places. I always get brisket and he always gets smoked turkey. Both were really good. The sides are delicious. The green beans were salty and savory and mouth watering the garlic mashed potatoes with the brisket gravy were amazing. Too stuffed to order desserts but they sounded good. We will be back for sure.

Tried 7 BBQ for the first time in Englewood, OH and it absolutely delivered. I had sliced brisket…read moreand turkey with a side of collard greens cooked in chicken stock, and every bite was excellent. Great smoke flavor, tender meat, and seasoning that stands on its own. They've also got a great lunch special if you're into sandwiches. I'm living the keto life, so I skipped the bun (didn't bring a keto bun), but the sandwiches coming out of the kitchen looked incredible. The dining room is beautiful with firehouse-style decor, plenty of space, and a variety of TVs that make it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. I ended up asking Patrick, the son of the owner, a few questions about the menu, and you can genuinely feel the family-owned and operated vibe that makes a local place worth visiting. Sauce selection is wide--I didn't try them all because of keto, but they even have a sugar-free option if you ask. There's also a large bar with a huge selection (I stuck with water). Highly recommend.

Stopped in here recently based on the review that's posted. This place is sort of like the fast…read morefood version of BBQ. Everything seems to be pre cooked, so when you order its ready to serve. I had a simple meal of a pulled pork sandwich and mac & cheese. The sandwich was ok, but the meat itself didn't have a ton of flavor. I had to eat it with a fork because it was soaked in sauce, which tasted ok. The mac & cheese was fair. Lots of styrofoam used, but they don't recycle, so they're generating a lot of trash that doesn't have to be trash. I don't plan on going back. There are too many other options to check out.

My husband and I both got the spicy sauce, which had a slowly evolving sweet heat; you could see red pepper flake in it. My son enjoyed the mild sauce, which he has declared "amazing." We had mac n cheese and collard greens for our sides. While the mac n cheese was good, I am one of those oddballs who doesn't like Velveeta in hers, so I'd have preferred a slightly different recipe. The collards, however, were delicious, with a spicy acidity that tasted like pepper vinegar. I could have eaten an entire bowl full of just the greens. I ate my chicken sandwich with a fork, because the bun quickly soaked through. It was really tasty. Our only issues had to do with the restaurant itself. First, it was unreasonably hot in the dining room, so I can only imagine it is sheer Hell in the kitchen. Though there were fans running along the floor, you couldn't pay me enough to work in that sauna. Nevertheless, our service was helpful, friendly, fast, and courteous, and both ladies behind the counter were extremely polite and professional. I'd love it if management could make sure they had a comfortable place to work when it's hot outside. Though the ladies' restroom was clean, my husband said the men's room had some toilet paper in the floor and could have stood a good, thorough cleaning. Lastly, though we were there during lunch (approximately 12:30) on a Saturday, they had already run out of their sausage, which indicates a potential problem in managing inventory and/or anticipating demand. At lunch time, you shouldn't be running low on anything. Also, despite signage that indicated the restaurant offers tea, none was available at the time of our visit. The food quality alone will bring me back (especially since you do online orders and catering), but dining in just wasn't the best part of the experience today. Hopefully, with some minor adjustments, that will improve. You've got hardworking, courteous staff, so try not to melt them.
