Sellers beware-The cashiers and manager are very inconsistent on pricing your clothes. They say their system provides the prices per the condition of your clothes, but each time I go the prices decrease and they're never on the same page. When you question them on it they get mad and offended that you call them out on the inconsistency. Very unprofessional and need to be trained on fashion and customer service. Save your time and make money by selling your things online. read more

I love shopping at this store but today is the first time I decided to try selling my things there. I brought in a couple of purses and multiple pairs of shoes- (Michael Kors, Kate spade, Hunter, vans, Chaco, Bed Stu etc , all in great shape. And was offered $46. I will not be selling anything there again. The whole reason I wanted to sell their is so I didn't have to worry with listing them somewhere myself but that's what I'm going to have to do from now on. That's a little ridiculous. read more

Style Encore is not a typical consignment store. They only take what they can sell, and give you 30-40% of the resale value upfront in cash (or check if they buy over $70 in merchandise from you). A typical consignment store only pays you when the item sells, so you cannot expect to get consignment store payouts here as they take all the risk in being able to resell your garments. The staff is friendly and they typically process your items in under an hour. Ask upfront what brands and items they are looking for to save yourself the frustration of bringing items that they won't take. read more

I loved the selection, I am a huge fan of Loft and Ann Taylor and there was tons of it there. I found a shirt I loved and a pair of dress pants that were perfect. The dress pants were reasonably priced but some of the tops are a pricey to be pre-owned shirts. I was shopping for some specific items to complete my work outfits that I couldn't seem to find anywhere else, so I didn't mind paying a little more for them. However if I were shopping without a specific need, it would be hard for me to spend $20 on a used top just because I liked it when I could go to Loft during a sale and find similar new shirts for around the same price. read more

Just a heads up warning about this store and type of management / sales associates that work within. I had a situation take place this past June. I stopped in to sell some of my clothing, etc items. The sales associate did my transaction in front of me and showed me exactly what they'd be willing to accept which was fine and then gave me my other items back in the same bag(s) I brought in. A few days passed and hadn't emptied out my bags yet. But I was looking for one of my items to use and I found it was not within the bag, I called and spoke to one of the associates/keyholders and explained my situation. And if it was definitely there and found I'd like to come by and pick it up. (Since they had originally decided they didn't want it, technically it was still mine) so I left my contact information in hopes they'd call me. From what I thought was going to be a professional situation in a calm nice manner turned out to be completely opposite. After a couple of follow-up calls which I had to place, I went down to the store to see if I could spot it myself well to make a long story short the item had in fact been found, but claimed there was no idea who it belonged too. (after being told that they have camera's and can replay and see when transactions/who does transactions take place) but when I went to their store I was told it had in fact been found, and had already be packaged up and sent off with other items to a location donation place. (This situation is very disappointing, at least for me it was) There was very slim teamwork in this matter and lack on communication. I was told several times that they would do their best to see if it could be found but yet I had to constantly follow up with them. On the day I went down to find it myself the actually managers of the store new very little of the problem and tried to be of help with apologies and by saying that they will speak to the one person I interacted and would have her call me to apologize. But I have not gotten a call from her, nor an apology. Normally things like this would not bother me too much, but when you're told things and there is no follow through, etc. It can really put a damper on the scene and ill feelings for the location and the policies. What matters to the person writing this is my own prerogative what it matters to you is yours. But I can assure you one thing, I will never walk another step in Style Encore. I will never give a kind word about it. What you do with your time there and business is your business. But I truly think there is lack of communication. I think it is sad that they say they'll do one thing only to do opposite. After accepting their apology yesterday, and after being told that they'd have the one I spoke to the most on this subject call and apologize for how things turned out but didn't get the call. Style Encore has lost all my respect. An item is just an item, but the way the business should be conducted in another. read more

Don't normally write bad reviews, but disappointed with my last 2 attempts to sell to them. On this particular visit, after diligently ensuring that all items were in great condition, I only took items that were only worn once or twice and purchased within the last 12 months. After over 30 minutes of waiting, they only agreed to take 2 items out of bag full of Anthropologie items, and other brands such as Vince Camuto, BCBG, Michael Kors, BB Dakota, B. Makowski, ect. Stated reason: the items were too "young", although I saw many of the same (and many much lesser quality) brands on the shelves for sale, many styles that were much edgier and risky than the styles I brought in, and many in lesser condition than my items. Out of the 2 items they agreed to take, they offered only $9 for a pair of Michael Kors heels that were only worn once and currently retailing in Belk for $100(I swear, I looked it up just to be sure). The store next door, Platos Closet, also was a rip-off and only offered $14 for a genuine all-leather fringe jacket by BB Dakota that was $300+ retail(only worn twice and current style).. NOT wasting another hour of my life at either location again, will sell in Jones Valley locations or online in the future. read more

The store is clean and the people are friendly. The clothes are also for the most part good quality. Unfortunately, the prices are fairly ridiculous. It is a secondhand store and yet they ask nearly $20-$25 for items from places like J.Crew or banana republic. On sale during the off-season, many of the clothes they are selling are actually cheaper in the store! Not to mention, all of the clothes are out of season and old line items that would be super clearance in the store. Yet style encore is asking the same price or higher than a brand new garment! There are some items that should be priced at $20-$25 or even more, but not most of them. I've been to other style encores and the pricing has been much better elsewhere. I was kind of surprised with the store. In addition, I have been in there several times and there has never been a clearance... I have been to the one in Birmingham and at that store, clothing is separated by brand. Such a disappointment to come to the store and see so much disorganization. I really am a fan of consignment stores and I typically like shopping at Plato's closet and style encore, but Madison is just terrible! read more
