Cpt Krista has a deep knowledge of the area and the wildlife. She brought us up close to multiple alligators (32) to see them in the wild and was very informative of their habitat and life cycles. Awesome ride and tour!!! Upon arrival, our captain was waiting for us. He had everything we needed to enjoy the tour. A comfortable boat, headsets and knowledge of the area and animals. During our ride, he always made sure to point out the gators which mostly everyone loved and wanted to see. But he also made a point to show us other wildlife, habitats and vegetation which I thoroughly enjoyed. This is our 2nd time going on an airboat. We do it every time we come to Florida because our son is obsessed with wildlife. This time Gator bait was sold out. So we decided to go with Stumpknocker instead. Not taking anything away from Gator Bait. But we are so glad that we had to pick a different outfit. We had Captain John today and he was so informative. You can tell he knew the history of the area and had us on Gators all the way. We saw everything. Turtles, birds, and at least 15 or so gators if not more! He was also excellent with our autistic son which was awesome. One of the other boats got stuck and he went back after our tour to get those folks. Quality guy and a really quality tour. Captain Krista was FANtastic! She had insane knowledge on the area, wildlife, and vegetation. She was also really funny and had our whole boat laughing. We originally booked with Gator Bait but their boat broke down 10 minutes in and we were stranded for a solid 30-45 minutes in the hot sun. Captain Krista came to save us. Ah, my special lady beat me to the first to review fame but seriously if you're in Florida, skip Disney and go here! Worth the drive from anywhere. Totally worth the $40 per head, especially considering the New England Aquarium costs $25 to get in now (what a joke). The boat is like a little fishing rig outfitted with a monster fan on the back and an engine that looks like it was scooped out of a 1968 Pontiac GTO. The thing handles pretty well, and it's a really cool feeling to be whipping around turns, as the thing glides and banks. Feels like you're floating on air. The gators are obviously the stars of the show, but the birds are the unsung heroes. The Dennis Johnson to the gators' Larry Bird if you will. The guide knows the area so well, he remembers when a certain family of ospreys last hatched babies, where the ibis likes to hang out, stuff like that. Tres cool. And he'll also tell you some funny non-pc stories with a semi-redneck charm that's better than kissing your cousin. Huh? Disregard. Anyways, get thee to STUMPKNOCKERS and feel the rush of the wind in your hair and the wildlife all around you. read more

I am basing this review on having listened to the tour operator bad mouth another airboat tour operator both upon our arrival (with the second company) and when our tour was done. Derogatory comments directed at the boat, the equipment, and the captain himself in front of disembarking passengers as well as those waiting to board were said loud enough for my entire family to hear. Very poor business sense. read more

My Sister-in-Law had ask me to set up an Air Boat ride for My Brother (her Husband) for his 75th Birthday. After about a month of going over the Web sites of the several Air Boat Tour Companies around Vero Beach Fl. I settled on Stumpknockers. Probably the Best Choice I have made in My 68 years. We arrived about 30 minutes before our Set Day and Time, which just happened to be Father's Day 2012. Capt Steve was preparing the boat, and there were about 11 of us waiting to go. After he got all equipment wiped down and cleaned from the privous group. He greeted us and helped each one into their floatation device and explain how they function, plus a safety brief. Capt Steve was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable, of all species in the area and vegitation. He gives the history of the area as well as He provides an outstanding tours of the wetlands.
