Just a little free advice, when you are speaking to an authority figure stand up straight, maintain eye contact, and most importantly speak with some conviction. 2 years ive met this woman once and spoke with her on the phone once. Not only did she fail to take meaningful action for over a year, but she also failed to appear at a critical hearing, leaving me unrepresented and unprepared. She did not notify me, did not arrange alternate counsel (as required in the event of a medical emergency per her own contract), and did not respond to phone calls or emails in the months leading up to that hearing. Instead of taking accountability, she falsely claimed in a later motion that I simply requested her withdrawal--when in reality, I had to fight to remove her from the case after she abandoned it. It took three more months before she finally filed to withdraw after phone calls where all I could do was leave voicemails asking her to explain why she didn't show up and why she won't get off my case since she is ignoring me. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but deeply harmful. I have now accomplished more as a pro se litigant in the past year than she ever did while representing me. The worst part is that she was paid through a domestic violence program, which entrusted her to advocate for vulnerable clients. She failed me entirely. I paid the price--not just financially, but emotionally and legally, losing even more time with my children because of her negligence. I strongly urge anyone considering hiring Janay to read the many similar reviews left by others who experienced the same abandonment, inaction, and unfulfilled promises. If you are a survivor seeking real legal help, please look elsewhere. This attorney made my situation worse, not better.
