Here are my inspiration photos and then what she did to my hair. It was $275 before tip (and I still tipped 20%, because I'm a decent person). I think it's safe to say I didn't get what I came for at all. She was super excited to do my hair, so I assumed she would do it well. This was my first time in 6 years getting my hair professionally done instead of just doing it myself. I will continue to do my hair myself, as it's clear I cannot trust others to do it for me.

I booked an appointment at Salon Haven specifically with a stylist named Christina after a trusted…read morerecommendation. When I called, I was told she wasn't available Saturday but had an opening Friday at 10:30, which I booked and received a confirmation text for with Christina. When we arrived, no one introduced the stylist or mentioned any change. My daughter was taken back, and we went through the entire appointment under the impression she was with Christina. The haircut itself was not what was requested. My daughter brought reference photos, but the bangs were cut far too short and uneven, and the layering was incorrect. It was only after we left that I realized the stylist was not Christina at all. The business card we were handed when leaving said "Bailey," who isn't even listed on their website. The lack of transparency is unacceptable. If a client books with a specific stylist, they should be clearly informed of any changes beforehand. We would not have booked this appointment otherwise. To make matters worse, I reached out to the salon via email weeks ago to resolve this and never received any response. No acknowledgment, no follow-up, nothing. This appointment was for my daughter's birthday, which makes the experience even more disappointing. Based on both the service and the complete lack of accountability afterward, I would never recommend this salon.

The facial was great, extremely relaxing and I felt that she catered every product used and procedure to work best with my face and concerns. After a very lackluster and disappointing experience at one of their other locations I was shy to…read moretry any others, but after talking to salon leadership I was persuaded to give them one more try. (BTW, the persuasion was challenging as the woman I spoke with blatantly accused me of leaving a "malicious" review when I simply expressed my disatisfaction and 2 stars with my visit after they did not respond to my company survey comments via email. - It was not until I explained to her that I am disabled and what she was asking for from me in person was not possible that she finally seemed to understand and back down. I would say leadership does not represent the same level of service I got at TC, which was AWESOME.) It is an hour drive for me to get to this location and it was pouring rain but it was worth the trip. Jannay was absolutely amazing! She was communicative, had 4 times the colors their other location had (they probably had like 15), did every part of a service I expected (cuticle work, sloughing off dead skin on my heels, a nice massage, etc) and was simply a pleasure to work with. This pedicure was 5 or more weeks ago and my toes STILL look amazing. Unfortunately, due to my distance from the salon it is hard for me to get there when she is available (I did not see any weekend appointments for months) but I am going to keep trying. It (and she) was definitely worth it!

I'm usually not the type of person to write a review, good or bad, but I have emailed and got a…read moreresponse that ultimately said "you can come in to get it done again free of charge but we don't offer refunds." When I first made the appointment, the "cart" read that the price of my balayage with a haircut would be $160, which it was not at the very end. When I sat down in the chair, I showed her a picture of what I wanted, a caramel balayage, something warmer for fall as I was blonde before. She pulled a few swatches which looked great and I had assumed, as any other person would, that the swatch she had chose, would be what my hair would look like, or similar...I was wrong. She came over with 2 bowls, one of bleach and one of brown (I still have yet to find any "new" brown on my hair). I was confused, but trusted the process because she's the stylist and knows what's best for the client. When she finished rinsing my hair out, we went over to her station to cut and style. She had asked if I wanted any layers and I said no as I've had a bad experience with them. She proceeded to give me long layers anyway. During the coloring process, she had asked me about my naturally curly hair and if I've ever thought about styling my hair in a way that it would enhance my curls. I said yes I've done it once but again had a bad experience so I wouldn't try it again. She had said okay. Fast forward to the styling process. I asked her if she could curl my hair, and from my understanding "curl" means with a curling iron, I thought that this was a universal definition for "curl". All of a sudden she's putting mousse and gel in my hair and curling my hair on her fingers. Instead of getting beach waves, my hair looked a mess. My hair became frizzy over time as I was driving home and honestly looked like I just rolled out of bed. I went home, rinsed my hair out with only water so it wouldn't ruin my 'color' and had to blow dry it and style it myself because I wasn't very happy with the outcome. The next day, I was looking in the mirror and really couldn't tell a difference in the color whatsoever, it looked the exact same as it did a week prior. I still don't know where the brown went that she had in the bowl or what happened to. my reference picture that I showed her. The color at my roots was not blended properly (I had consulted another stylist who is a family friend from home) and she agreed, as well as one side had more highlights on it then other. The back of my hair (color wise) didn't look like my reference which I understand it wouldn't the first time, but I was expecting it to look different then when I walked into the salon and it did not. I'm disappointed because I paid almost $250 for something I didn't and still don't like. Now I have to find someone else to fix it and pay again. When I emailed the salon, I was hoping some sort of compensation for something. I had mentioned in my email that I didn't want to return due to this experience. The proceeded to email back and offered me to come back in and they would do it free of charge. I almost think it would be giving them another opportunity to mess it up because no one likes to do their job without getting paid. Good news, the staff was really nice. Receptionist was understanding when I wanted to pay some in cash and the rest on my card. Very sweet and understanding. (will not let me upload pictures)

One visit has transformed the way I feel about my hair. For the first time, my hair has been cut TO ITS NATURAL SHAPE AND TEXTURE! I now have a cut and style that I LOVE and I don't have to fight with my hair every day, because my cut works with it naturally. Seems silly, but finding Cori has been life-changing.

Edited to add: I spoke to Shannon, a manger after this…read moreposting. She was really accusatory and defensive about my original comments. She repeatedly said I was trying to be "malicious" in my leaving an honest comment/review about my experience. She said my review was uncalled for, and went on to treat me disrespectfully on the phone while I just tried to explain what happened. (I'm very anti-confrontational so I felt really anxious by this behavior.) She kept talking over me, around me, making up excuses for everything that I see experienced and made some harsh comments directed at me. When she asked why I didn't address my concerns in the store I told her that HER response in that moment is the exact reason why I didn't say anything. I'm disabled, and in a high stress situation (like she was making it) cognitive challenges tied to my disability are exacerbated. I explained that her belittling me and blatantly accusing me of doing things I didn't do like pulling on my polish for the sake of bad photos, exaggerating, and "being malicious" would have really made the conversion incredibly hard to deal with in person with in person. I told her it was even really hard to deal with it/her even on the phone; her belittling treatment was exactly WHY I did not say anything in person. I also explained again that I filled out their survey and waited weeks for a response. I had tried to give them a chance to contact me before I left a review. Once again she didn't believe me and told me I was malicious. After many, many minutes of feeling like I was being talked down to by an angry parent she finally suggested I come back to another location and try someone else. (Her suggestion, I was not looking for any compensation.) I did, yesterday, and that experience was a BILLION times better. I'll leave a glowing review on that location's page here shortly. Lesson learned... Don't try and leave honest opinions online about this business unless you're prepared to be talked to and treated like a naughty 6 year old, and to esentially be called a liar over and over. Managers need to take responsibility for when things go wrong. Not blame the guest and make up every excuse in the book to cover them up. -I know now they're excuses by the significantly better experience I got from their other location where she did everything above and beyond!
