My mum and I went here together for a treat. The spa itself is pretty small but really nice. There…read moreis a hot tub in the women's only area with six loungers around it. Then there are lots of loungers and daybeds around the long fountain area. My only thoughts with that area is there isn't much shade so you couldn't eat on the daybed when the sun was overhead but we ended up eating at a small table and it was fine. The staff we're all really friendly and the masseuses that we had were lovely. There isn't anywhere to swim in the actual spa but a short walk away you can access the adult only pool which we found in the afternoon. I wish that staff had indicated that this was here earlier on in the day. I'll definitely come back here.

Kaylin answered, and I explained multiple times that I had an existing reservation with a confirmation number that needed to be canceled. She insisted there was "no reservation" under my name or phone number and claimed I had only created a profile. When I asked if I could just make a reservation over the phone instead, she sighed and asked for how many people. I said two (for my mom and aunt). Later, I received a call from Noel informing me that I somehow had FOUR reservations total: the two online reservations Kaylin claimed did not exist, plus two additional reservations Kaylin herself created. Completely unacceptable and incredibly disorganized. I explained the situation to Noel, and instead of acknowledging the confusion, I was told, "It's fine, it's a mistake on your end." At that point, I honestly should have canceled everything, especially considering we were paying over $520 for this experience. Unfortunately, it only got worse. My mom said Mousses gave a great massage, but during the service she asked her to remove her watch and supposedly placed it with her robe. After the appointment, her watch was missing. We went back in person, and the spa said they didn't have it and told us to contact hotel security/lost and found. Now security claims they don't have it either, even though the watch's location is still showing there. On top of all of this, the sauna was broken and there were no mimosas available. For the amount of money we spent, the entire experience was a complete nightmare from beginning to end. Poor communication, disorganization, missing amenities, and now a missing watch. Definitely not worth the price.

As a family we'd visit The Spa throughout the late 80s and more frequently in the early to mid 90s. We also went there after the 90s but not as often. The last time I went there was around mid 2000. It was always memorable for us but very disappointing when they closed down for a very long time. We went there one time, hoping to enjoy the waters. But all we saw was flat ground where The Spa used to be. We inquired about other spa resorts but none compared to The Spa. I would call sometimes after they renovated the casino nearby to inquire if they would open a hot springs resort again. I was told that the waters were too sacred for the native Americans who own the land, so they would never rebuild a spa. My mom loved it there so much that we tried to find something that was even just a little bit as nice as The Spa in Palm Springs or Dessert Hot Springs. We never found a place like it. Sadly, I stopped inquiring and my mother passed away 2 years ago. I found out recently that they opened Séc-he in 2023, a year before my mother passed. So going there recently was bittersweet for me. I wish my mom had been able to enjoy it but it really doesn't matter since she's in a much better place anyway. I had a great experience there and didn't imagine how much nicer it was than I expected. Of course I was surprised by how much bigger Séc-he is than the previous Spa. I expected to have the same services as The Spa and almost didn't enter because of the price. It didn't make sense to me because I was thinking it was similar to The Spa. This renovated spa resort is much bigger and more interesting, aesthetically, than the previous one. The previous one was built in 1960 and while I liked the mid-century modern look, I like this a lot better. I was given a tour of the area and amenities before I began my journey there. I have been to the three top resorts in Japan, Harbin and Esalen in N. CA, and Beverly Hot Springs in L.A. Séc-he offers more amenities compared to all of those other hot springs and hot springs resorts. You really can't compare because Japanese love to replicate an atmosphere that's as natural as possible. And Esalen and Harbin are outdoor, with Esalen overlooking the Big Sur ocean high above. So it's a different experience and they're not as luxurious as Séc-he. I recommend the 15-minute private mineral bath that you have to reserve. It's one of the only features that was retained from the previous The Spa. You don't need more than 15 minutes because it's very hot. The floatation room was the highlight of my journey at Séc-he. It was my first experience doing that and it was amazing. After a while I didn't feel my body because of the relaxing atmosphere and the way you float effortlessly on the water. Your body is just inches away from the bottom but it feels like you're on a lake or on a calm ocean somewhere in the Caribbean. I highly suggest visiting the spa on a Monday because there's less people. I think Monday-Wednesday would be ideal. I have been to many spa resorts in CA throughout the years that have mineral or geothermal waters. Glenn Ivy and La Vida were our family's favorites but La Vida closed over 35 years ago and Glen Ivy only offers a small geothermal bath that is too small to appreciate because there are too many people using it. My parents used to go to them long before I was born. The only one that still exists in Los Angeles is Beverly Hot Springs but you're limited to 2 hours, which is necessary due to its size. Otherwise it would be crowded with too many people even on week days. If you seek out the best geothermal waters, Mercey Hot Springs would probably be among the best. But I recommend reading about the unique, natural method the geothermal waters are distributed at Séc-he. Because of the way the hot springs move around geologically, you get benefits from minerals that you won't derive from other hot springs. And this is something I immediately felt on my skin after going into the outdoor pool that's fed by geothermal waters. My skin felt like it had an oily, silky residue. The water in that pool is very soft. That's something to keep in mind if you're seeking the most beneficial geothermal waters because all hot springs aren't the same. I will definitely go there again and this time to enjoy cryotherapy.

I've only been to one other large spa like this that even compares and that was the Grand Hotel…read moreVictoria in Menaggio (Lake Como). There is a reason that Spa at Séc-he consistently ranks #1 in many of the rankings in CA and in the US. It is unreal. Not only is it huge, they have thought of literally everything. Re-imagined in 2018 and completely renovated between 2021-23, they re-opened in April 2023. But it's history of being a natural hot springs dates back more than 100 years. I'm not going to detail all the amenities - just browse their site and book some time there. PRO TIP #1: it's not a 1-hour treatment and done. Plan to spend 3-4 hours there, enjoying all the amenities and different areas. PRO TIP #2: booking a treatment includes a 15-minute soak in a personal, private mineral bath. These waters are 108 degrees and come directly from 1.5 miles below the earth surface. Very mineral-y, but I'm sure did wonders for my skin. Don't miss it. PRO TIP #3: if your a FT or PT resident, mention it on check-out, they offer a locals discount. ENJOY!
