DO NOT CHOOSE JOE FOR YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS. He is a good portrait photographer, but you will be EXTREMELY disappointed for any event photography. He has a rough edged manner, he does not take pride in his work, does not do what he promises, take a very long time to do what you pay him to do - if he does. Read his YELP reviews and go elsewhere. He is gifted portrait photographer, but the way he treats his clients will leave you wishing you had thought twice about hiring him for you wedding. I wish I hadn't. He did great engagement photos, but weddings...I strongly advise you to choose a different photographer. read more

he may a good photographer but he is super slow and lazy in responding. He does not accept the Groupon-he will schedule and shoot the session but when it is time to share pictures he will ask for a minimum of $250+ to even share the photographs, the worst part is you can't even download them - to download you will need to pay 100 bucks extra. Going through his reviews looks like he has done this with most of the families. Will suggest finding another better photographer. read more

Joe has been amazing to work with. He took our family pictures about three years ago and recently, when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, it was important to me to have new pictures made. The first person I thought of to call was Joe - he was so gracious! We had to reschedule twice due to hospitalizations but we finally managed to get our family photos taken about two weeks ago - and we couldn't be happier. With the limitations my husband had we were not able to go back to the beach, but Old Town Poway Park made for a beautiful backdrop. I could not have asked for a better experience and I will treasure these photos for ever. read more

Very disappointed. Odd personality that my kids did not respond well to, and it showed in the photos. He promised many things during our sit down and review of the photos - including photoshopping of kids errant hairs across face, dark bags under eyes, blemishes, etc. He took way more time to deliver pictures than he promised and NONE of his pictures were photoshopped. I requested multiple times for the hairs, dark circles, etc to be fixed and he still missed them in most of the pictures. I would not recommend to anyone. read more

My girlfriend got a group on special you had a few weeks before christmas in hopes to set up some pictures for us. After over two months of never hearing from you after constantly trying to reach you guys, we were forced to get a full refund from groupon. My girlfriend payed up front (through paypal) for a photoshoot and never heard a peep from this company... They took her money, then never returned a call or attempted to contact us. Joe met our family at Seagrove Park, Del Mar in January. He told us the perfect time to arrive to take photos in the park with trees in the background. He did a nice job taking individual photos, pictures of my kids together, pics of me and hubby together, as well as family photos. We took so many pictures, I was pleasantly surprised when Joe said we were going down to the beach to take more pictures right at sunset! Worst decision working with Joe for my wedding! I met Joe at a wedding expo and was excited to work with him after looking through a few of the photo books he had on display. After meeting him at his house my fiancé signed an agreement and went on our way. We had free engagement photos which turned out nice but Joe had a very odd personality and I questions using him for the wedding, not wanting to lose our deposit, we just decided to continue on- how bad could it really be? Well, it was bad. 1) he was late! He only got pictures of me and the bridesmaids, non of my husband and the groomsmen getting ready. The pictures that he took of my and my bridesmaids were from downward angles looking up ...double chins everywhere! He had weird poses with the flowers... nothing seemed natural. I disliked almost half of them. 2) never told us when someone had something out of place, in almost all of the photos he took, my husbands hair was sticking straight up or his jacket was weird. All the photos will have to be photoshopped for those little things 3) the other people working on my wedding were creeped out by him, he even went as far as taking their pictures and included them in my drafts! 4) my guests commented on his weird actions and "artistic" picture taste. Very few in the moment photos. All too staged for me. In the moment I don't know any better...he's the expert, right? 5) Took forever to get him to send us our photos- kept trying to do so on Dropbox which wouldn't work. All I wanted was them on a memory stick for me to review. After we finally had that, he sent me a "preview" of my wedding album and it was AWFUL, not what he had done for other clients AT ALL, he was placing photos in there that weren't even centered, choosing ones hat specifically and obviously we looked bad in.. not good. His response "Rome wasn't built in a day". I needed time off from him. So now- 2 years later I am on maternity leave with time to go over my book again- NOPE! Too late, the contract said after 12 months it was done and forfeited. Yes, I did sign the contract- but no professional reminder of this?!? I had even paid more money for extra family books to be printed. I am SOOO frustrated that I continued to work with him when my gut had told me not too. Well the good news is I LOVED my other vendors and still got great pictures from family and friends. Don't work with Joe for any special occasions you can't redo. read more

I bought a Groupon for a one hour session that included a portrait and prints. When I called to make the appointment he told me if I wasn't willing to spend $200-$300 more than I should just cancel my Groupon. Not sure why the groupon even existed. Very disappointed in customer service. Would not suggest buying. read more

Purchased a Groupon and hoped for the best. Scheduling the shoot took forever. Joe the photographer wasn't personable or easy to get in touch with by phone or email. The shoot was uncomfortable and we were happy when it was over. We had to wait weeks to see the images because you have to go to the photographers house to see them. There were a few good shots, but getting them retouched and delivered took months. Definitely wouldn't recommend or use this photographer again. read more

Bump us a few weeks before our wedding for another destination wedding. We then made the mistake to use him again for family pictures and it took him over 6 months to get us the pictures. We had our pictures taken a few years ago, but I'm just now getting to review this here. We too used a Groupon and it was easy enough to schedule. Joe was flexible with the number of people in the picture and on the phone seemed great. Once we got to the location, it was a completely different story, he had scheduled another family to take pictures at the same time and location as us. And he had broken his foot/ankle recently so was wearing a boot and had another photographer there who he said he was training. They alternated taking pictures. He made all of the people in our group who wore glasses take them off. He also pulled my sister-in-law and, then fiance, away to take pictures of just the two of them. Even though we had said that it was more important to get the entire family, especially the family with a young child, and that the lovebirds had already had engagement photos taken. He really didn't listen to us and what we wanted. When it came to taking photos in front of the golden light and sunset he positioned us in front of people who were waiting and watching the sky. They were very irritated at us blocking the view. It was made worse, that once he got us positioned, he walked away to go take pictures of the other family. When he finally came back, he nearly stepped on the onlookers and their dog. Then mocked the man, who told him to watch out. By that time the baby who was with us was done and everyone was ready to leave. He actually picked up the baby and handed her to an elderly grandparent (who was not familiar with the child), against the will of the baby and the baby's parents. I'm seriously surprised my brother-in-law didn't hit him. We literally scrambled away from him saying that we had taken plenty of pictures, nearly 15 minutes before our session was due to end because we were all so upset with the shoot. When it came time to review the pictures, there were quite a few good ones. But, a group shot of my husband and siblings I requested that he "if able" could adjust my SIL's face to look in the other direction with everyone else. (He had said he was good at photo shop.) When I got the prints, her face was completely distorted. I asked him to alter it back to the original and send me the digital. It took him weeks to do and he never did fix it. By that time he got it to me, I just wanted to wash my hands of it. Out of it all we got a few good shots, a few passing ones and a bad experience. read more

Only call Joseph if you have the patience of Job!. I'll leave out all the drama. The short version is we took the photos in December and didn't receive our final product until June. He touched up some of the photos, but nothing near as promised. We had to ask him to actually take out his light umbrella from one. He's not worth the frustration! I wish we had read the reviews before getting the Groupon with this photographer. The session was okay, although he had us in some uncomfortable positions and did not explain well what was happening in the end. At first we persevered because we thought this would end in some great photos. While the photos were good, they were not great and we had to pick through carefully to find what we wanted. He promised to photoshop several for us and include some prints at a discount. We chose our photos and sent him the list.... and he lost it. Again we provided him with the list of photos we wanted.... and he returned a completely different set of photos. At this point it's been 6 months since our photo session and we still have not received anything. He has offered to send us the digital originals for the ones we picked, but no prints. We paid him more than $900 including a Groupon, and once he got our money it seemed like he didn't care about what we got. read more

We were very pleased with the photos Joe took, especially with 2 boys that were less than thrilled to get photos taken. He managed to get some amazing photos. He used several backgrounds outdoors at the beach and had very lovely poses. We loved the editing options and were happy with the photos. read more

I found Studio Paris on Groupon and booked Joe in 2015 and 2017. He does beautiful work. He's a little quirky so if you can bear with his oddities during the photo session, you won't regret it. He's busy so it took him about 2.5 months to get my photos...but they were worth the wait! And he gave me extras too! read more

This experience began well enough, got a groupon, scheduled the photo shoot on the beach, had a pleasant experience throughout. Then, we went to Joe's house/studio to view the photos, they looked wonderful, and bought an additional package. Fast-forward 6 months, and we're STILL trying to get our photo package delivered. As soon as payment was made, Joe became unresponsive to emails and phone calls. After a couple months, he said he "got some new software" and had lost our photo selections (but not the photos). We re-submitted the selections, and ......no response. Don't waste your time with this guy unless you want to spend hours making calls, sending emails, and eventually spending some time in court trying to get your money back. read more

Wonder why groupon is still selling for this photographer. We hired him for some out of town families to take portraits on the beach two years ago. He did arrive on time but the shooting session was unpleasant ( my families agreed). The worse part is the photo proving, he made mistakes after mistakes and failed to correct it or respond in a timely manner. Although we got the album at the end it was a huge delay. He was a nice man with a pleasant demeanor about him. My sister bought Groupon package. We had our reservations about trying a photographer off of Groupon, but we were actually very pleased. He gets busy so this may be the reason for the delay in getting the photos, so we suggest plan your photo session accordingly and understanding that good work takes time. Joe was prompt to our appt and came prepared. (It did take a while to schedule a date, but that was because he was probably busy with all of the Groupons.) He didn't rush through the process and his demeanor was kind, patient and he was good with our teenage kids. It seemed to take a while, but that's because he was thorough and took a bunch of different shots. The pics turned out great. We were happy with our experience with Joe.The prints seemed pricey, but then again, I think all photography prints are expensive in my opinion. Remember to give yourself time to schedule, take the pics, review the pics and finally get the prints. It takes time. read more

We had a great experience having our family photos taken by Joseph this morning at Poway Park. He was on time and he was so great with our two boys, making them laugh and joking around with them. It was the first time we've had a professional family photo session and we couldn't have been more pleased. He was very friendly and definitely knew what he was doing when looking for the right lighting/background/etc. We purchased a Groupon and have been extremely pleased with not only the ease of scheduling the appointment, but with the hour we spent having our photos taken with him. We were impressed with how Joseph was able to capture candid, gorgeous family photos -- all using areas in our own back yard. He has a gifted eye for leveraging background colors and details that perfectly highlight the animated faces of both our children and our elderly dog.
