We also did our engagement session with her in Downtown Detroit. She knew all of the places to go and guided us the entire way. On the wedding day she made sure to get all of the important images that we wanted. We received 1252 images from the day! I really liked how her second shooter and her split up during the getting ready so it would save time for us. She also had really creative ideas for our first look (right on the beach!) that made it special for us. She's also really nice and not super pushy, so we felt comfortable asking her for certain shots too. Photography was really important to us, and we're so happy that we went with Geneva!

She captured every wonderful part of the day, wrangled our families into group pictures, and in general was just a delight to have with us on our wedding day. She is a super fantastic photographer who does weddings, engagement photos, senior photos, family, kids - all that fun stuff. She does some of the posed type photos, especially if that is what you are looking for - but she excels in taking photos with a little more artisic flair, photos that truly capture people in the moment, and photos of the potentially missed details. We did engagment pictures with Amanda and our wedding photos in 2007. My sister used her for her wedding in April of 2009, and she is doing two friends weddings in 2010. As you can see, the whole word-of-mouth business works amazingly well for her. Amanda's personality sold me on her services even moreso than her work. My husband HATES having his picture taking - so when we met with Amanda and it was obvious how awesome and hilarious she is, it became obvious that she was the perfect choice for us. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. (And it helps that her prices are more than reasonable) Our engagement pictures were super fun, and a great way to get my husband even more warmed up to Amanda prior to the wedding. We brought our dog along with us and she took some pictures of us with him- for the record, she is great at photographing animals too. We had a few hundred pictures when she was done- and she releases the rights to the photos so you can make copies however you want, as many as you want, as cheap as you want. Bonus! Wedding day - Amanda met us at my parents house to take some "getting ready" pictures. She then followed us downtown Detroit to photograph the wedding, and to Woodward between the Fox and Comerica Park for some more fabulous pictures. Amanda is not afraid to do what she needs to do to get a good picture. For one of the photos that I posted to this listing, she was literally lying down in the middle of Woodward to get the best angle. Now, I should mention that she was sick as a dog through all of this. Her personality still sparkled and shined, but it was obvious that she was not doing so hot. If I remember correctly, she came to our wedding after being in the hospital for a while. Needless to say, she wasn't able to come to the reception, but sent her now-cohort Jen to take over. I think this was one of a handful of times that Amanda has had to send in a replacement. Sad as I was that Amanda wasn't going to be able to join us, I was definitely pleased with the way Jen covered our reception. She tooks tons of pictures and didn't leave until she was sure we had gotten every picture we wanted. My sisters wedding went equally well, and she was very happy with the end results. I give her credit too, because my sisters videographer was a pain in the a$$ and Amanda was very professional in not telling him just how obnoxious and sucky he was. :o) We hope to have Amanda do some family pictures for our sons first birthday in the summer- if she can capture adults and dogs, I am sure she can capture some amazing things with cute little buggers too. Amanda is awesome - I think that with most of her customers, she becomes not only their photographer but also a friend. Love her.

We all have facebook friends that fit that certain stereotype. You know...the bragger, the…read morepartier, the politico, and of course, the liker -- the person that likes everything anyone and everyone posts. Personally, I'm a lurker. I check it daily but I post minimally. However, I finally lived out the liker lifestyle when I saw my wedding photos taken by Blend. Seriously, I was 'Liking' all over the place! Blend Photography consists of a husband and wife team, whose artistic vision blends (see what I did there!?!) to deliver the perfect results for your event. Together, they were able to create the exact look and feel I was looking for and capture all those important moments of the big day. I found Blend Photography through a simple Yelp search...thanks again, Yelp! I was panicky and frazzled. I just did an engagement session with another photographer, I was less than thrilled. Very, very less than thrilled! So I started searching and calling. Jen from Blend quickly returned my call and called my nerves immediately. Yes, they had my date open and yes, she could meet with me to discuss my event and 'vision.' Already, I was confident in my choice...I loved what I saw online, I loved that she could make me feel comfortable immediately over the phone and I loved that she was willing to work with my hectic schedule. And after a meet and greet, I realized I was very, very confident with Blend. Our engagement session took place during an evening following a super hot day. Unfortunately, we kept having to reschedule because of the heat wave we were having during that time. I so glad we kept on rescheduling...no one wants to look at photos of a sweaty, kissy couple with frizzy hair. Luckily, the evening we took the photos was perfect, even though it was still warm. Jen and Rob had some great ideas in mind for shots and locations but also made sure to capture the spots that my guy and I wanted as well. And then our big day came. Leading up to the wedding day, Jen kept in touch via email to solidify the details of the actual day. She also made sure to find out which shots/poses/locations were most important to me. Both Jen and Rob wielded cameras that day, making sure to capture every moment from multiple angles. They definitely caught some great shots, but made sure to stay unobtrusive during the most important moments. And most importantly, they stayed very respectful of the flow and traditions of the wedding and the synagogue. A few weeks later, I was finally able to see the amazing shots on their website. They also promptly had a disc and a letter granting me rights to reproduce the photos waiting for me as soon as it was ready. Unfortunately, the wedding album did take some time to get to me -- however this was because of some issues with their lab. The wait was long, but in the end it was worth it -- the photobook was great. Just a tip though -- make sure your let them know of every shot you want/need. They are not mind readers and because of that mistake on my part, I feel like I lost out on a shot of an important custom from the ceremony. So yea, I'm definitely happy I chose Blend to be part of my big day. I guess its more than just 'like' -- its 'love' when it comes to the great photos to remind me of that amazing day.
