I've recorded at countless studios across Canada as well as New York & California and everything else pales in comparison to how I feel when I work at Planet. As an artist, having a place where you feel comfortable and free to be creative is very important & that's exactly how I feel every time I walk in those doors, not to mention, everyone is always so welcoming. I've always felt that no one cares more about my project than me, however having worked at planet for the past 6 months, I realize that others want the absolute best for my project as well. I truly appreciate the attention to detail that's been given to my album and the dedication to make it sound the best it possibly can. The owner is super nice and there are plenty of rooms for use, which was nice. Location: It kind of took me a while to find the place since it was in the middle of 2 restaurants and even then, you have to go up to the 3rd story of the building by foot. So, I hope that my pic of the outside of the building will help some! Pianos: I opted for room 407 which is pretty much just an up-right piano, though I can't remember the brand. My only qualm with it, is that the keys weren't as tight as I'd like them to be and it just needed a slight tuning. Other than that, the acoustics of the room were wonderful and you feel like you're quite isolated in there (which I enjoyed). Overall, my 1hr time spent there flew by so quickly, and if I ever have the urge to practice again, I'd definitely come back here!

I signed a lease with my band and put my drums in a room. One day, my band decided to change music…read moredirection to something with more synth and less drum-heavy. So, they wanted to part ways with me, and as part of that, wanted me to move my drums out of the room. That would have been perfectly fine if they respectfully had asked me to leave, but that's not what happened. What really happened is they went to the management of this studio and asked them to change the lock combinations to prevent me from accessing the room with my belongings (despite us being on good terms before that). A respectable studio would have not accepted such a request given that my name was on the lease and I had full right to access my equipment. They would have asked me to simply come pick up my drums. What happened is I lost access to my own belongings despite having my name on the lease. This is theft, let alone obviously very disrespectful to me as a customer! And, I didn't hear back from the band about when exactly I could pick up my drums for a while, so I contacted the studio management to help me move my drums out since I am on the lease and have the right to my belongings, which oughta be respected. I didn't hear back for 2 days, telling me they could not help me get my equipment, which is again considered theft. Fortunately, my band members eventually got back to me, and I got my drums out of the space. Long story short. The place discriminates against their customers. They respect some of them while not respecting others despite being on the lease. A place with this kind of discrimination is unethical, and you cannot trust it with your belongings. Your items could get stolen as a result of this, and you will not receive respectful treatment if in their discrimination, they decide you don't deserve respectful treatment. Even if I was respected at this place, if I heard a story like this, I would pull all my items out in a heart beat and never rent any room there. A place with that kind of untrustworthy service should not be in business, and places like this go out of business all the time.
