The flat breads and whipped feta were great. The lava cake was a real treat. Food isn't available all week, but that's also the deal for the rest of the town. They have live music and a cocktail menu. I didn't get any drinks (work), but the list looked really delightful. Rooms are clean and updated. Pricing was fair. I didn't get to swim, but they have a very nice pool. Towels are provided at the front. They have a small breakfast bar. Laundry is first come first serve but I had zero problems getting in to use it. Was very grateful for the quiet hours. Love that they updated this little motel. Will stay here again thanks to Misty and her staff.

We discovered this at 11pm, so we made it work. At checkout,  I told front desk employee who blew it off and just said, "thanks for letting me know". Unsatisfied, I contacted trip.com with whom I made the reservation. After several weeks of going back and forth because they had no luck contacting the property owner, Misty, I was told they could only offer a refund of $36 which wasn't enough. I decided to contact this Misty myself. She returned my call and left a voicemail stating she would not be doing anything further for me. I called back and spoke with a lady who wanted to know the whole story all over again. She told me I should have said something sooner and they would have cleaned the room. I told her the room should have been clean from the beginning!! After check in, we left right away to enjoy our day at the lake and didn't get back until late. I didn't realize that we needed to inspect the room for cleanliness. I wasn't asking for a full refund, but certainly more than $36 or even a free night. They wanted to do nothing but argue and hang up the phone. Haven't heard anything since. $186 for a dirty room with sand in the beds and someone else's dirty hair pins on the uncleaned nightstand. The owner and staff are rudely dismissive and unhelpful and they're selling dirty rooms. Unacceptable! 1 Star.

However what it does have it does extremely well. If you are looking for a deluxe resort then you should look somewhere else and be prepared to pay for it. This is the place if you are are on a small budget and just want to enjoy the wind, waves, beach, fishing or friendly people. Don't expect overstuffed chairs or writing desks or super fast wifi or pillow chocolates. But then, the price reflects that. Various members of our family have been staying at Sandbar for five generations and soon to be six. Why? Because we get all the basics that we require. There is a primative but totally functional fish cleaning station as well as boat lifts, grills and picnic tables and chairs. The cabins vary from 2 bed to 7 beds. All but a couple of the very smallest have full kitchens. Our late season (last week of Sept) group is a dozen or so fishermen who come from all over the midwest and gather to fish for perch and walleye to eat and smallmouth bass for sport. We make a July trip with grandparents and grandkids and stay at the cabins right on the beach. The beach is only 20 steps from the cabin doors...sand all the way. Only the weather can pause the fun. It is a short trip to Arnolds Amusement Park. There are many local restaurants that are excellent. Chris is always helpful and can solve any problem or knows someone who can. Very important when you are miles from home.
