Amazing smoked meat with friendly service. Country vibe with grain sacks and old farm tools. Try the barn bombs; they're amazing!

I would say the food was very good. It was my son and I -- we ordered 2 proteins (brisket and pulled pork), 2 sides (potato salad and garlic mashed, and 2 sodas (served in cans). It was a little different with everything being served in a bowl (we opted for the non-sandwich route) -- see pic. I guess I'm not overall used to having a shredded brisket, but nonetheless, it was good. They only have 2 varieties of BBQ sauce -- one with and one without jalapenos. Both had a decent kick, but the one had a definite jalapeno flavor (not really my favorite). The owner (at least I think he was the owner) was nice and checked in with us a couple of times for anything we needed. I know meat is expensive, but I thought it was a bit pricey for the serving sizes. Our bill for lunch was $40. And, I wish they had a few more sauce options. The BBQ sauce they had was good, but some other options are always nice. Overall, I don't know that this would be a regular stop for me because of the cost, but it would be decent for a splurge now and then.

We went to this BBQ spot in downtown Morris after some shopping in the area. Food was good and service was quick, considering that there were a lot of people around downtown for a bicycle race (they also have a walk-up window outside and a lot of the muddy bikers were ordering there rather than coming in). Ambiance is country casual, with rough-hewn wood tables and at least a couple of chairs made from cast iron tractor seats. The memory of Strum's lingered with me for the rest of the day, since I was full into the evening from our tasty lunch and my clothes were also redolent of BBQ smoke!

Haven't tried their burrito yet because everytime I go here I can't stop ordering tacos and then I'm full. I must try other things next time. Yelp to the rescue again!…read more As with another yelper, I also grew up in Southern California, and spent half my life there. And then spent another 15 in Texas, and ate my way all over the Southwest. Get there early - when I arrived at 7, they were out of carne asada and picodillo. I ended up getting the taco dinner with carnitas. It ended up being a very good choice; most times I get carnitas, the meat is fatty and too chewy for my taste. These carnitas were lean, and muy delicioso. My heart skipped a beat when I saw they had elotes (Mexican corn). It's just as good as what I would get at 2 am at Fuel City in Dallas. I also got a couple churros for the road (my plan was to dip them in a Culver's concrete mixer, but they didn't make it that far). The churros were fresh out of the fryer, nice and hot and crunchy. I was too full to try the tamales. Maybe next time. They now accept credit cards with a minimum purchase of $5. Joliet is lucky to have this place. You will never look at Taco Bell the same. It's kind of difficult to get to it, just follow the US 52 signs. It's worth the drive.

Taco House in Elmhurst, Illinois was a moment of pure, unadulterated joy. The question wasn't if I would go, but how quickly. After two visits--one short visit and a second, full-scale adventure with the family--I can confidently declare this new outpost a great success. The Feast: This wasn't a tasting; it was a mission. We embarked on a comprehensive tour of the menu: · The Tacos: The Vigilante (x2, for good reason), the boldly named Koopa's Revenge, the west-coast inspired Californiacation (x2, again, a wise choice), the poultry-packed Bad Mother Clucker, and the refreshing Aqua Taco. Each was a distinct masterpiece of flavor and texture, from robust, seasoned meats to crisp, inventive slaws and salsas. · The Support Cast: The Killer Queso appetizer lived up to its name--a creamy, spicy, dippable revelation that had us fighting over the last chip. The chicken nuggets were a testament to the fact that even the simplest dish can be elevated; perfectly golden and tender. · The Libations: My Strawberry Margarita was the ideal balance of sweet, tart, and strong--a crafted cocktail, not a sugary slushie. The kids were thrilled with their Sprites (a classic done right), as was my husband. The Verdict: The food is nothing short of amazing. But a great restaurant is more than its plate; it's an experience. The atmosphere is effortlessly trendy and welcoming, punctuated by a blast of nostalgic decor that sparks conversation and smiles. The soundtrack provided a vibrant, fun energy that complemented the meal perfectly. Most importantly, the staff was genuinely welcoming and attentive, making us feel like regulars on only our second visit. In the world of fast-casual dining, this place isn't just playing the game; it's changing it. We are already plotting our next visit and countless more after that. Zap! Taco House isn't just a new restaurant; it's our new favorite spot.
