Our company used Structures made easy Ltd to carry out structural calculation, to be submitted to building control for a mezzanine build project.
Initial contact with the Director Saad Darzi was friendly & pleasant. He provided a quotation for design work to include structural drawings + Structural calculations + site visit for the proposed works. The information provided would be in a form suitable for approval under building regulations (as stated on their terms and conditions).
After a short site survey, Mr Darzi requested we have our surveyor furnish him with the drawings. This was unexpected as it was part of the quotation. However, to avoid delays we forwarded all the drawings. Those same drawings returned to us, upon which were hand written (barely readable) annotations & a Tedds software calculation to be submitted to Building control.
On 1st submission Building control wrote stating the information provided by Mr Darzi was insufficient. This information was forwarded to Mr Darzi, we were advised he will respond the following week. But 3 weeks later Mr Darzi asked us to produce a further drawing; we complied. Again, our drawing was returned to us with hand written annotations. At this point we sent several emails asking whether hand written notes on drawing satisfy building control requirements, response received stating it should "suffice". Upon the 2nd submission Building control replied stating the information provided remained insufficient, again detailing the same comments as the 1st submission. Not wanting further delays to obtain Building regulations approval, we emailed Mr Darzi and he agreed to liaise direct with Building control officer but this has not been honoured. We still do not have structural calculation clearance from building control.
Mr Darzi has refused to refund the fee for this unacceptable, unprofessional & incomplete service.
As a consequence of the above, it put us in a difficult situation with our client.
Since posting our factual feedback, we have received several threatening emails claiming defamation and legal action to be taken against us individually. Also, we received an invoice from Mr Darzi claiming Commercial damage and losses totalling £30,000! read more
