I've shopped at many Walgreens locations in my life, and well, this location is okay. It has a…read moresmall selection compared to what I'm used to. I'm not sure, but I feel like Walgreens is downsizing in how much product they carry. It feels like it's going to go out of business in a few years. I don't mind the pricing because I would rather pay a little more than be bothered by the rude, mannerless people that are at Walmart; I'll pay for the convenience. I've never had a bad experience here; I've always had good service. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because i feel like the selection is lacking. But everything else about the store is great.

Go early, they run out and you will find the barbacoa you know plus the mixta kind. On top of this, this little convenience store has a but of everything you need to get you through the day - from cerveza to limes, from aspirin to smokes. La Cabana has been a staple of the area, with that mom-n-pop feel that you just do not get from a Valero, Shell, Exxon, or other wanna-be convenience store. In fact, it's so convenient that La Cabana elevated itself to Bodega status - knowing what the people want, stocking it, then staying true to local roots with the best barbacoa and menudo available on Sundays. Worth a stop if you need just about anything, and perfect to quench your thirst with a cerveza or if you need to pick up the occasional avocado, peppers, or chiles you forgot. Stop once, stop often, stop at La Cabana in Brownsville, Texas.

My parents are still regular shoppers here and it is always stocked with everything we need. (Want is a different story) The produce is fresh but sometimes borders on the side of overripe depending on what you catch a whiff of. I didn't see a meat butcher shop, just the fish monger section. That's a bummer, but there is still an adequate selection of meats. It's not a bad HEB per se, it gets the job done for the folks who live in this small town. And that's really all anyone can ask for, right?

I really wish this location would stay on top of maintaining the payment keypads. For quite some time, it felt like every visit involved two or more pumps not functioning properly, which is frustrating as a regular customer. Overall, the location could really benefit from some updates and general improvements. I hope to see positive changes in the future.
