Our AirBnB host in Story suggested this place as a local place of interest and she was spot on. The main visitor center was not staffed, but the small area had plenty of cool information about the hatchery and its history. Did you know that they sell the fish eggs to other hatcheries in different states?
There wasn't much to see at the settling ponds and the brooding facility, but the main attraction was the lake trout brood stock area, where you can toss in fish food and watch as the fish fight over it. 25 cents for a handful of smelly fish food seemed like a bargain. Highly recommended. read more
