One of the few ranches in Germany that rides Western, the Stormy Horse Ranch specializes in lessons, trail rides, and classes on natural horsemanship, as well as rehabilitating injured horses or horses with behavioral issues. Nearly all of the horses they own have been rehabilitated in some way from injuries or behavior problems that had them once labeled as "unrideable." The Stormy Horse Ranch has a lovely indoor riding hall with an attached kitchen and dining area. This addition was recently built, and is where they hold riding lessons, parties (you can arrange for birthday parties, etc.), and classes. This place is a godsend during the winter, since the wood-fired stove keeps everything toasty. The ranch is owned and operated by the Braun family-- Georg, Andrea, and Steffi. All of them are incredibly nice people, and all of them know a lot about raising, training, riding, and rehabilitating horses. I have always taken lessons with Steffi, and I have always found that she makes the lessons fun, but also is an excellent instructor who can explain a new technique simply and precisely. I have also been on a trail ride, and the countryside is (as is the case with all of the Oberpfälz) absolutely beautiful. I absolutely love coming to this place regardless of whether I'm riding or just watching my wife ride. The people are nice, their facility is beautiful, and their dog (did I mention their awesome dog?) makes for a great soccer/football partner. read more
