Cold brew with sweet pistachio maple cream: 9/10 it wasn't too sweet which I like. The pistachio maple cream tasted so good. Def taste both pistachio and maple equally. Doesn't overpower one another. The place is really well decorated with nice lights, good seating (inside and side patio), and a huge tractor indoors and out. They have bar seating as well. We came for dinner and had a nice server. The noise level was a bit loud. We each had a 1/2 portion meal and shared a chopped salad. Both were tasty but average in comparison to other Italian eateries. The chopped salad could've used some more texture variety and flavor. The pasta was delicious but not as robust in flavor. A couple years ago I started a little tradition of taking my kids to this cafe for their birthday. It started out as a cute morning routine where I would let them get a chocolate milk with whipped cream and sprinkles and share a pastry with them like a cinnamon roll. It's been a couple of years now and they have come to LOVE this little birthday daddy date. This past trip was particularly special. Our favorite spot on the couch was wide open and a short line was starting to form behind us so I had my son and daughter rush over to save the spot. They performed their job perfectly! Then I had them take turns standing next to me choosing what they wanted. They passed on the chocolate milk this time and went with gelato. It was 9:15 am and they wanted ice cream?! Man, you can never underestimate a child's capacity for sugar first thing in the morning... I got myself a vanilla latte and it was exactly what I needed to start my day off right! As I was checking out, Marissa asked me whose birthday it was and gave both my kids special discounts before they were turning 6 and 8! As a single income household in Orange County, special discounts are always well received haha. That extra layer of consideration and generosity made the experience all the more personal. There are so many wonderful spots out here but what makes this location uniquely special is their story of overcoming. They opened shortly before COVID. Omg I'm in heaven. I just tried their Tonno (Tuna) panini with a half salad. Amazing. It's not like an American tuna sandwich you'd expect but more like a tuna focaccia sandwich straight out of Italy. It's made with olive oil, onions and parsley and some amazing spread on it. Great little cafe located in Old Town Tustin! There are a variety of coffees, espressos, lattes, teas, etc to choose from. And there is gelato for those with a sweet tooth! I ended up getting the Cereal's Latte in a to-go cup to walk around Old Town shops. This flavor concept had white coffee honey and chocolate sprinkles. Got into a verbal confrontation with the owner for something minor. We ordered a bacon burrito but received one without bacon, cut into two pieces. After taking a few bites, we realized the bacon was missing and alerted the server. However, the server only took one half of the burrito and left the other half with us. This caused the issue--since the server left the other half, we only received half of a burrito as a replacement. When the replacement burrito arrived, we were given just half of a burrito. The explanation was that we had eaten part of the original burrito, so they wouldn't fully replace it. We had already discarded the other half on a plate to the side so it wasn't difficult for us to bring it to them to get the other half replaced. I then asked for a copy of our receipt, but the person at the cash register confronted me aggressively. She insisted we only deserved half a burrito because we had eaten the other half. Despite my repeated explanation that the server had taken only one half and we returned the other half ourselves, she insisted I was lying. I don't understand why this became such a problem. We received the wrong item, and all we wanted was a proper replacement without any confrontation. I simply wanted a copy of my receipt, not an argument. When I asked to speak with the owner, they revealed they were the owner and they wanted us to leave. I understand times are tough and the cost for groceries are high but this is a poor customer service experience. None of this would have happened if the burrito was made right in the first place. Taking it out on your customers and accusing them of lying over something this minor is unprofessional. read more

Just wanted to update this review, since the last time we've gone back 3 more times, once for dinner another just for the ice cream. The gelato is great. We finally got to try the dinner, it was exceptional. I don't remember the dishes we got off the top of my head, pasta wise, but one was a vodka sauce the other was pesto. Just really good. The service was great, we sat at the bar, the bartender was very personable and made sure to check on us and take care of us quite well. I had a great old fashioned the wife had a glass of wine that she loved. This place is a busy place, might have to wait for a table, overall a great place for a birthday dinner or a some drinks. Staff who delivered our dishes was very abrupt with us, there was definitely a communication issue. One member of our party did not receive her entree (special for the night: lasagne) until we were 1/2 through dinner. While enjoying ourselves with conversation and contemplating dessert we were advised we needed to finish up as our table was reserved for the next party. I have been dying to try this place. Tonight we finally did. We ordered the arrabiata, the calamari, Caesar salad, and the eggplant parmesan. Everything was delicious but the thing I was looking most forward to, the eggplant parm, wasn't very good. To my surprise, the eggplant was hard and seemed undercooked. This restaurant has an intimate setting and is a good place to meet friends for dinner. I also had breakfast here a few days prior to eating dinner there. Despite being a cozy spot in Old Town I'm rating it three stars for average food. The breakfast burrito is OK but lacks any specific flavor to make it stand out. Unfortunately, the burrito we had was indicative of the food at dinner - good but nothing to write home about. I had a mushroom and bacon pasta while my dining companion had a linguine with clam sauce. We also had a chop salad. The chop salad was a bit soggy; the lettuce was cut too finely to stand up to the dressing. Neither pasta dish had any distinctive flavor. It didn't make me want to come back and order either dish. There's and Italian place down the street that's been in town for 50 years that is as good or better. Actually, their sister restaurant in the same plaza, Centro, has better food thinking of the last time I ate there. I ordered a beer. The server put the glass down and poured from a beer bottle, straight down the middle of the glass, which produced 1 inch of beer and 6 inches of foam. The server didn't know how to pour beer. I thought the service was a little uneven. They were considerate but seemed to be in practice. Again, great for a cozy place but the execution in approaching the table, delivering the food, and following up with water wasn't quite there. We spent $177 plus tip for a table of 4 which included 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer. Every restaurant anymore is expensive but if the public is paying that kind of money for an evening out then the food should leave you thinking "wow that was great" - especially Italian food where taste like garlic or basil or easy to dress up a dish. Here, nothing grabbed me by the tastebuds. Well maybe the caprese salad and the bread. Both of those were good. I was also able to bring my dog outside and he was super chill the whole time. The worker there was super sweet and was able to provide me all kinds of service and recommended a drink for me to try. It's hard to star rate this place Atmosphere: 4 stars, the place was adorable Price: 3 stars, fairly reasonable I thought (though on reflection the portions weren't terribly big) Drinks: 4 stars, we ordered a Mocha Nutella coffee and a She's Peachy. They commented that carbonara tends to be salty but they would redo it for me. Though they did bring it back later, the dish was still inedible. Even the bacon was less salty than the sauce. My friend's pasta also was way too salty. I can't, for the life of me, figure out what it could be since the pastas were different so I'm not sure if it was the salting of the water. The sauces were one cream, one tomato based and the ingredients were different. Since it was a birthday treat, we both tried as best as we could to finish the dishes but even my foodie friend wouldn't even eat her last shrimp. We're hardly bland eaters Customer service: 3 stars, sweet enough to try to fix the problem without much complaint or comment (but issue wasn't solved) I guess with five categories and 15 stars, it'll average to 3 stars but come for the drinks or to relax in an adorable setting. We decided to try this little side cafe while waiting to be seated. From the moment I entered the cafe I felt like it was super crowded and very unorganized! Servers passing in front, to the side and behind you at all times one wrong live and someone's dinner would be all over you. The young man who was taking our simple order of two teas and a gelato seemed overwhelmed and anxious. After he took order he didn't give us a number of asked for our names so we decide to wait outside to not over crowd the already crowded area. After what it seemed forever I went to go check on our order while I waiting the same young man was taking an order for gelato. To my surprise he served the other customers right then and there. My face said it all! I was upset at the fact that I did not get the same service and go too it off the got my tea order wrong.
