An older gentleman looked at me quizzically when he came in and inquired about the long line at the counter. Quaint country store vibe with unique gifts, ice cream & shakes, an assortment of Peanut products from cookies, peanuts in the shell to deep fried peanuts the list goes on and on... You have to check out the store to see all the different items the list is quite long. For us it was an excellent stop on a 2-1/2 hour drive along a beautiful country highway.. The staff was friendly and informative. I learned that Mackeys Ferry Peanuts has been open since the 80's. Reading from their website I found that the name "Mackeys Ferry" was taken from a bit of local history. The Ferry was used by the Norfolk Railroad to carry train cars across the Albemarle Sound, specifically to and from Edenton, NC and Mackeys Landing. We enjoyed are quick stop and of course purchased an assortment of different peanuts - everything delicious. I recommend a quick stop to check it out
