Holiday Gas Station - Convenience store at the gas station

    Holiday Gas Station

A couple of Tuesdays ago, I needed to fuel my rental car for the first time. My original thought…read morewas to fuel in Fargo, but my Waze app kept selecting gas stations that were well off the interstate. We are too dependent on technology, especially GPS apps. I've been sucked into it. I dislike it. I used to drive this route between Rochester, MN and Winnipeg without a GPS. Without a paper map. I ignored my phone. I went with exit signs telling me that this Holiday gas station was next. I went with it. This Holiday gas station is off I-94. It was straightforward pulling into the station and finding an available gas pump. The fuel cap was on the passenger side. I inserted my Canadian credit card at the pump. Holiday gas stations are kind to Canadians. I didn't need to enter my ZIP code. Yay! I fuelled. It came out to $28.28. I liked it. Done! If you are a Cub Foods rewards member, you can enter your phone number associated with it to earn points at any Holiday gas station. I oddly haven't shopped at Cub. I should at least get the rewards card. I've been to Holiday a few times now. What was charming about stopping here was pumping gas to Joy to the World by Three Dog Night. It was cheerful and uplifting. It felt like I was at church, but on a Tuesday afternoon. This gas station was clean. I had a great experience. I'd drop by again when I'm in the area and my vehicle needs gas. Ditching looking at my Waze app was freeing. Joy to you and me. (83)

How then can a gas station stand out above the rest, restrooms. Yes, I'm a firm believer that we stop to fill one tank and empty another. The restrooms here were spacious, clean, well-stocked & offered user friendly, environmentally friendly & more sanitary options - like both a no-touch paper towel dispenser and a no touch air dryer, hands free door opener & I truly appreciated the switch to flip for restroom service- no need to track down staff. Side note, they were readily available tho. There's a car wash on site, large selection of food/drinks/auto care & clearance rack for thifty souls. The lot was easy to access & had ample parking.

I have been a shell customer for over three decades. I have probably spent at least $2,500 at…read morebjornson Shell station just in 2023. There have been issues with proper functioning of their pumps, regarding some of their receipts and charges as I have observed some receipts that charged premium prices for regular gasoline, not just mine but other people I know as well, lack of knowledge of attendants in some cases, and most recently, exceptional rudeness from one attendant particularly. I am severely disabled physically and mentally with post-traumatic stress, survivor guilt, and anxiety. I am very careful who I am around and what I expose myself to to protect myself and my mental health. When I respectfully trying to address the problem just to make them aware of it, regarding the purchases for regular gas with premium markings on the receipts and possibly premium prices, the clerk was defensive and tried to explain that premium is written on all the receipts. I have never seen that in my entire life of almost 60 years. And honestly I felt like I was talking to a wall so I said okay fine let's just stop talking about this because internally I was starting to get frustrated but not showing it yet. The attendant continued and continued and I asked him several times politely not to speak of it anymore and just let me purchase the gas I want to purchase right now so I can leave. He was delaying me at that point and I was getting frustrated but trying not to exhibit it. The attendant continued, my tolerances are low because of several traumatic things that I have experienced in my life, but I asked him several times just to run the thing so I could get my gas paid for and get out of there and he continued more so I at one point boldly asked him to be quiet. He continued more and even one of his coworkers said okay enough and asked him to not continue. As he continued, without processing my payment yet, I boldly told him to stop talking and eventually I had to say shut up in process the thing so I can leave. It escalated from there as he further got defensive and I eventually was allowed to pay for my gas and leave but not before he and his other co-workers reverse the situation on me and threatened me. I have noticed for several years that bjornson's Shell gas station is very unprofessionally run. The only reason I go there is because they are the only Shell gas station in the vicinity and I have been doing business with shell for 30 years. As a person suffering severely from not just physical but mental illness, one of the last things I need are rude people getting in my face or escalating things after I respectfully request several times to deescalate. I understand the common ignorance that most people do not understand the difficulties certain mentally ill people go through. However, that is no excuse for pathetically continuing to escalate and unresolvable issue. I feel that other people need to be aware of the treatment that they could experience at bjornson Shell station and the unprofessional behavior of their staff. Not to mention the very questionable accounting at the pumps that could actually be criminal in nature if they are ripping people off. I believe that they need to be investigated and that a forensic accounting of all their transactions at the pumps should be conducted. Furthermore, despite my 30-plus years as a shell customer, I feel that bjorns and Shell station in Fargo is a disgrace to the Shell company and they should be stripped of their association with the shell organization. Furthermore, considering the very long history that I have had to observe the lack of professionalism at their station, I do hope that other people come forward that are questioning their receipts and that a criminal inquiry into that company and its owners produces evidence that will shut them down permanently and cause them to have to pay reparations to their customers. I would urge every citizen that does business at bjornson's to cease doing business there immediately and spread the word. Put them out of business! Thank you for taking the time to read this.
