Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so without further delay please let's begin!. I stopped by because my wife asked me to pick her up some Starbucks and it just so happens that it was inside Stop & Shop! So in I go and before I looked to the right where Starbucks was located I seen a area that was designated as a flower shop, it is located in the left hand corner in the front of the store for those that may be wondering if the are searching for flowers!. I decided to walk over and purchase some flowers for my mom! I found a nice bouquet of flowers and a nice vase to put them in for a separate purchase!. They also had balloons and other floral items for purchase! After I purchased the flowers and vase, the attendant asked if I wanted her to fix it up. I said please and she decorated it with a box and decorative paper for stability and beauty!. I walked away feeling pretty good!. I would recommend and definitely return if I need flowers when I'm in Bayonne NJ!. read more

This location has a good variety of products. A huge section of dressing and sauces including kosher sauces. After looking for a tahini dressing sauce at 3 different places I finally found it at stop and shop. On the other hand, prices are a little high especially if you compare to Walmart. Prices at this place are somewhat comparable to shop rite. Also, although the staff is friendly, when I needed help trying to find a particular product it was hard to find someone. I found some people stocking shelves but somehow they claimed not to be stop and shop employees. Go figure. read more

Very clean and well-stocked store. Great specials throughout, when you sign up for their shopping card. All of the fresh vegetables and fruit we got were very tasty. The staff was helpful and checkout was a breeze. We ate new to the area and are happy with such a fine store! read more

I enjoy coming to the Stop & Shop in Bayonne.  Usually its not over crowded with people and I enjoy doing my food shopping with the least amount of people around me.  There is a huge parking lot outside Stop and Shop, so parking will never be an issue. They also have 2 separate entrances.  The deli section is real good at this location. They have boar's head cold cuts, which are my favorite types to purchase.  Also, you can place your order ahead on the deli kiosk machine,  shop around, and pick up your order afterwards.  Nice large and wide aisles here, so you won't bump into anyone. Some additional things I like here is the produce section,  frozen food section, and the self service check out area.  Being a member here also gets you great discounts.  I shop here at least twice and month and recommend everyone should check this place out. read more

Not one of the best stop and shops I've been too but gets the job done. Unfortunately their self scanners are usually not fully charged and can't gEt them. Long lines regardless of cashier or self check out. The people up front working are pleasant enough however it's hard to find someone when actually shopping to ask a question. This place is awesome lots of things you can get here. They have a ton of stuff. They also have nice things for sale. The foods in lots of aisles are nice and stocked very well! The items in the back of the store are also good you can get very interesting items they also sell pizzas and hamburgers and bread and cheese and milk and lots of options to choose from! read more

Well stocked store. Staff can be very friendly and helpful. Expensive compared to other local stores. Many items are literally twice as expensive when compared with the dreaded Walmart. The creepy robot that patrol the aisles is not reassuring. And yet this store has such a large and selection of just about everything. A very decent organic section and products for many alternative diets. Just don't come here looking for lettuce. They cannot seem to keep it fresh. read more

Been going to this location for over 7 years now. It gets the job done but there are many issues that bring my review down to 2 stars * cleanliness is a major problem; especially in the produce and deli areas (and bathroom too). * In the produce area, there are always multiple scales either out of tape or out of service. This should be monitored and maintained better. * The scanIt mobile app for customer cell phones has been down for over a month (at least). You cannot connect your phone anymore to the Stop and Shop Guest Wifi (well you can but it doesn't work). Therefore, when you go to scan an item on your phone the app says you are not connected to the network. How has this not been fixed? - so when you go to use the store's scanners, they are all either taken (because it won't work on cell phones) or in the process of charging. So ScanIt is no longer an option in that circumstance. * quite often, this stop and shop does not carry the same particular food item from one week to the next (most notably healthy items). Reordering inventory seems to be an issue with this store. So does sticking with the same * No Organic deli items at the deli counter. Other stop and shops I have been to have at least organic cheese, ham and turkey as sliced-to-order options. product for extended periods of time, which can get quite annoying. read more

This stop and shop is PHENOMENAL!!!! - Vegetable selection, has such variety beyond your horizon! - GREAT Cheese section / olive section - Two aisles worth of all different types of organic food, with a freezer, and fridge section. (Soy products, vegan, gluten free) - Meat Section with a nice butcher, who is very helpful. Organic chicken brands. - Seafood section everything is always fresh and great! - They have this whole section just for milk. - Bakery, everything is fresh. This has been my supermarket of choice for the last 5-6 years. I've loved the scan while you shop option since day one. You can just scan your item and throw in your reusable shopping bag. At the end of your trip you can just go to the self checkout, scan a UPC barcode by the touch screen and your ready to just pay and get outa there. I actually now use my iPhone instead of the store scanner. It's so convenient. The one thing I hate about food shopping is the checkout line. This makes it more tolerable. They have one aisle dedicated to organic and gluten free items. For living in Bayonne and not needing to buy items in bulk as it's just my wife and I, this place works. read more

The employees are actually nice! If you don't have your shopper's card, they scan the in store one. Unlike Shoprite where they make you go to the Customer Service desk to get your card number?! Out of all the supermarkets in Bayonne, this one is my favorite, especially now that they just opened a Starbucks inside. Mind you this is the only Starbucks in Bayonne. Its about time. Compared to the other Stop & Shop stores I visited this is by far the cleanest, well lit and well maintained. They also have self-check out aisles and they also carry lots of organic products which others don't. Add a PNC Bank, a pharmacy and florist why go anywhere else for my grocery needs? read more

I have been coming to this store for a while but today it was truly the worst!!! The quality of the produce has just declined to the point of no return. The cilantro was muddy and filthy, the lettuce was literally rotten, the apples were damaged.... I spoke to the manager and he was very apologetic and professional, but unfortunately I will not be returning here ever again. The employees are always very helpful and wonderful. read more

Horrific lack of customer service skills experienced at the self check outs a few nights ago. My coupons would not scan so l asked the young female clerk to assist me. I said hello to her, attempted to engage her in conversation to no avail. I asked the clerk FOUR times for help but was ignored as she was texting someone on her cell phone. I actually had to press the ask for assistance even though we were just feet from each other. She made a miserable faces and rolled her eyes when l asked her again. When she cane over with out a mask on she didn't even know what to do. She voided out 2 items and then required me to come over to her register to pay. I paid and realized l was not asked for my store loyalty card so the loaded coupons were not applied. I looked at the receipt as l walked away with my cart FULL of groceries when l realized she only charged me for just two items. This means l easily could have left without paying since she went back to texting. Because I'm honest l returned to the other register and paid. Since my coupons were not applied l had to hunt for a supervisor. He called over the head cashier who refunded me for some of the coupons not applied. Did l get an apology? No! Will the useless clerk loose her job? Unlikely! Now as awful as her rude tude was most clerks are really ok and l love this huge selection, mostly clean, brightly lit store. Now l get it...she is a miserable millennial who HATES her part time job but guess what my cash is good at any competitive store. Yes l will shoo there again and often BUT if there's anything l can possibly buy at their competitors l will. Go here for steak, go right in front of the butcher, and you can purchase excellent filet mignon for $17.49 per pound. Why would you do it? To avoid substandard local steak. Of couse if you have the money, you will go to a restaurant and order a filet mignon meal for double that price. Go elsewhere for the produce. I must say Stop & Shop has grown on me, I can see the difference in my savings when shopping here not just from the receipts but through the mounds of food other than when I go to another supermarket, you get the best deals when you do your homework with what's on sale and your coupons (YES, coupons I love a good deal) along with your perk card (if you forgot it, no worries inform cashier)...yay! I have had two incidents with one of the managers, spoke to the store manager and haven't had a problem with her since, the staff are friendly and helpful. Horrible experience today. Lines 6 deep all over even at self checkout kiosks. Then my kiosk malfunctioned giving me an error message after each item I scanned telling me "attendant required" & causing it to take 20 minutes to check out 30 items (normally would have taken half that time as I'm a pretty experienced shopper!). The associate/attendant who was supposed to be manning the 5 self check out lines - John - disappeared leaving every one of the 5 lines at a complete standstill for varying reasons. When he finally came back & I told him I wanted to see a manager since this was ridiculous he said to me "then go find a manager". Holy crap I was stunned & told him that he had horrible customer service skills to which he replied "don't give ME an attitude!" I finally had to actually call the customer service desk from my cell phone (yes you're reading this right!). The manager Lisa did finally come over & was very nice & apologetic but frankly it was too little too late. I will be calling corporate on Monday to complain about their associate John & will consider taking my business to Shop Rite. Came in for a bottle of water so in could take a pill. As the checkout lines were all 10+ deep, I approached the empty "courtesy" desk and asked if I could pay for it there. I was met with a scowl and a curt "you'll have to give me a moment." Gretchen proceeded to take her sweet time while repeatedly scanning the checkout lanes as if to suggest I should have gone there. When she finally got around to collecting the $1.09, it was with great effort that she mustered up an insincere "have a good night." Perhaps she had a long day but "service with a scowl" has become all too common these days. If you hate your job that much, find something else....or at least fake it. read more

I really do like Stop & Shop but most of the time I head on over to Shoprite because it's a few blocks from my apartment. If I want to go to Shop & Stop, I have to drive. The great thing about competition is that it keeps each other in check. Shortly after Shoprite was rebuilt and expanded, S&S renovated, which was great. Plus, S&S houses the ONLY Starbucks in Bayonne, which is my go to coffee! Big points for that! I do think that Shoprite has a better produce and bakery section than S&S. One thing this S&S has over Shoprite is their healthy eating aisle (I think it's aisle 2). It's packed with great products! Ok so this is the closest most convenient grocery store to me and I will only go there when I absolutely have to! The service is some of the worst I've ever experienced in my life. The checkers are rude they never greet you and they're always talking amongst each other as if the customers don't exist! I don't expect much but when you deal in customer service you should at least greet the people that make your job possible! I shop here almost every weekend. Using the handheld scanner is helpful (it gives you its own savings "coupons" and you can verify that a product's sale price is still valid - sometimes the tags are old) and kinda fun. They have a large selection of almost everything. However, when a product isn't on sale, it's a bit pricey - Walmart is cheaper when you need a few things that aren't on sale at S&S. Starbucks is always tempting. I've been shopping here since the store opened, and only once did I venture into the restroom (I was very pregnant) and it was not very pleasant. They do have quite a few self-checkout lanes, which go very fast if you use the handheld scanners (provided you aren't stuck behind people who don't know how to use them). read more

I picked up a bunch of grapes which were on sale, and the guy pushing the cart of bananas said that the deal would expire tomorrow. Thus, I bought grapes and saved $3.15. Starbucks on site gets you your caffeine fix. Great deals on seasonal items as always. Organic stuff is a little pricey, but what can you do, it's Bayonne. Today I went and purchased a box of Carolina breakfast sausage at $11.99 I mentioned to the cashier that I saw them at Shop Rite for $9.99. I mentioned this to the cashier and stated that Stop n Shop is trying to be competitive. And I responded that charging $2.00 more is not competitive but robbery. So much better than Shoprite. I love not having to mow down people as I breeze past the registers in the front, while looking down the isles in an effort to find what is next on my list. I also love that the people are helpful, friendly and fun. It's also definitely not as busy as Shoprite, so I have more time and I can look with ease.
