Granite Depot of Lexington - Chip in granite

My husband and I had granite installed in our bathroom. First of all, we were promised the granite…read morewould be installed by Christmas if we placed the order by the day we did. We waited a week for someone to come measure. Three days after they measured, I made a phone call to ask if the countertops were going to be installed during that week because no one had called to schedule anything with us, yet no one answered the call. I left a message, but no one ever called me back. I called again, and once again, we were told they'd be installed by that Friday. (They would squeeze us in the schedule.) We were going to be out of town for the next several weeks so it was very important we had them installed before Christmas. Well, guess what. It was cold that Friday, and they didn't show up. Is that an excuse to not install countertops? They would be inside our house. So beware the sign on their window that says installed in 5-7 days isn't true. Once they were finally installed, the sink was installed backwards (My husband was told they didn't need the template that came with our sink when they came to measure.) After numerous texts, yes, texts, not phone calls we were told we were WRONG and the sink was installed correctly. They finally agreed that they would come look at it for a $50 fee. Yes, that's right, their mistake, yet we were going to have to pay them another $50. We refused to pay that and after more texts and emails of pictures, not phone calls, the owner finally agreed for the installer to come look at it. My husband was told the installer would be at our house on Thursday between 12 and 2. You'll never guess what happened. NO ONE showed up. My husband tried to call the office, but no one answered. Again, he received a text message saying they would be there on Friday. And yes, it was installed incorrectly. They did fix it, but only because we kept on and on about it, and they weren't happy about it. We live "too far" away. Also, there is a chip in the granite that wasn't fixed nor acknowledged in my emails to them. My husband says they used a filler on it, but it looks terrible. See the attached picture. It's frustrating that we have paid this much money to have these problems that to them are no big deal. Oh, and to make us feel better, we were offered a cutting board. We were asked what color, and my husband told them "Brown Fantasy" that is the color of the granite we installed. Well, I don't know what color they brought, but it sure isn't brown fantasy. It honestly is an extra piece of chipped granite they must have had laying around the store. It doesn't match, and it has a chip out of it. Buyers beware of what you purchase from them.

The actual…read morestone is beautiful but whoever measured and cut the stone obviously didn't know what they were doing. This company needs to invest in a straight edge ruler. My stove is obviously a square but whoever cut it had it so out of square we couldn't push it back in to the wall. We called the company and they did send the installers back out. He worked on one side trying to help but even he admitted that it was out of square and that he couldn't do anything more because the company would hold him responsible if something happened to the stone. He left here and said that he would tell his manager about the problem and have him call us. It has been a week and a half and we have not heard one thing from the manager or anyone else in that company. Thankfully my husband is a 40 year contractor and he was able to fix it otherwise my stove would still be sitting in the middle of my floor. This company really love telling you when you are buying that they have wonderful reviews. You will notice when you go to their site that you cannot write a review. They pick and choose what reviews are on their site and the ones they choose are all glowing.
