They have a vast selection of drums, drum kits, cymbals, pedals, drumsticks, drum bags, cajons, other percussion, guitars, banjos, keyboards, you name it, & even a room to play drums in & take lessons! Really good prices & value on the music equipment here & a very knowledgeable staff on hand to help you find what you seek. If they don't have it in stock, they can get it for you also. This is also where I found & bought my Yamaha snare drum & a drum bag from. I found an amazing snare at an awesome price!

I went in quite a while back, excited because this is the only place listed as a Taylor authorized dealer in the Boro area. I had saved up quite a bit, and was ready to plunk down cash on a really high end model (816). I joyfully made the trip over, found the place, and went in - expectations high. To their credit, they did have all the Taylors I was considering and a nice room with them displayed. With that said, that's the only positive I can say. I walked in alone (late-20s), and looked around for a few minutes without being welcomed or spoken to. Their store front is full of crap guitars, basses, and drum sets on display as soon as you walk in the door, but you have to look to find the small hallway at the back left of the store that leads down to the "nice guitar" room. After being stared at for a few minutes by the rude folks behind the counter and never being smiled at, waved at, acknowledged, or even so much as spit towards, I moseyed on to the back room to look at what I came for. Found the Taylor section, and was on the fence between 3 models, but ready to make a purchase. Given this was about to be a $35-4500 purchase, I expected to be salivated over. Especially once they saw me pick up the highest end models they had available. Nope, they didn't salivate. They didn't even see me pick up a guitar, because that would mean that someone saw me at all! They never came back to the room. They never stuck their head down the hallway and ask if I could use some help. They never even got fed up with me and asked me to put the guitars down and leave unless I intended to buy. I could have stuffed a Taylor down my pants and walked out and I don't think I'd have been acknowledged. Needless to say, after nearly 20 minutes of standing by myself in a room full of some of their richest margin products in the entire store, I got fed up, walked to the front of the store, and told them I was leaving. They looked utterly joyful to have me exit their store, as if I was the one being rude. As I was driving away, I thought, you know what? I am the customer, I am the one who drove my happy butt all the way to their store, and I am the one who didn't get served. So I decided to call the store and ask to speak to the manager. I was told the one on the phone was the manager (likely), and asked how I could be helped. I launched into my story of showing up, ready with cash in hand to pay for an extremely high-dollar Taylor, playing by myself in the high-end guitar room for over 20 minutes, and never being even acknowledged, much less asked if I wanted to buy anything. The "managers" response? "We must have not seen you come in." Really, I said? Ya'll stared at me walking in and leaving both, and never said a word to me! I told him I'd never been treated that way in any music store I've ever been to, and that if they continue down that road of not serving customers or seeming interested in making business that they'd soon be out of business. He said, "Sorry you feel that way" and hung up. Never apologized, never offered me to return and personally handle my business, nothing. Just plain awful. I wouldn't give them my money if they were the last guitar dealer in Tennessee. That is not the way to do business or earn customers money or respect. Save it, and go somewhere else. ANYWHERE else.

Yesterday I decided to check something else off my bucket list and set off to buy a mandolin. After doing a fair amount of research, I ended up at Mountain Music. (I live in Nashville now but did not feel like any of the shops around there would be welcoming of a newbie like myself, as most of their mando's started in figures that were WAY out of my budget). There I met Matt who took me aside and showed me every mandolin they had, even played each of them to let me hear the differences. We talked about body styles and strings. He hooked me up with a great deal on everything I needed to get me started, re-stringed and tuned my new instrument, and gave me recommendations on picks, tuners, etc. Which was great because I'm brand new to stringed instruments! All in all, these guys know how to bring in a beginner player like myself and keep me as a repeat customer. They have a fantastic return policy so even if I decide to go bigger and better, they'll accommodate! I definitely recommend checking these guys out.
