Burrows Park is a hidden small park from the street view but truly an amazingly serene little park that is one of many tiny hidden treasures of Madison. Burrows Park overlooks the Mendota shores, has a large stone park shelter, small playground, & restrooms. It is also home to more than one sacred Native American Effigy mounds including an extremely large bird shaped Effigy mound. Many people go there to relax, meditate, and it is a very peaceful place with an amazing view of the sunset. You can feel a certain beautiful positive charged energy coming from that whole area. People often rent out the stone shelter which has picnic tables for company picnics, baby showers, family reunions, etc. It is very affordable to rent out and can hold many people. I love this wonderful park so much, this is where we had our wedding rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony!

There were a few other people there enjoying the twenty-seven gardens located in this one space. There are benches throughout the gardens where you can sit and enjoy the peace.The interns we met at the entrance were very friendly and generous with their time. There are signs posted with names of the plants and information about the garden throughout the park. Tours and special events are held throughout the year. For a colorful and peaceful time, I highly recommend Allen Centennial Gardens!

We did play at the playground for a few minutes. It was fine, but small and some parts were broken. There were spiders and wasps, but not many. There were a lot of young people there playing different sports and walking/running on the trail so if you are looking for that type of fun this will be a great place. It's a large space. We wouldn't go back. My kids kept asking to leave.

I enjoy Fete de Marquette the most of all the festivals/events that take place here. Food, music, a Ferris Wheel! Lots of vendors to browse and even cool activities for the kiddos. 10/10 recommend! I attended the Isthmus Food Cart Fest here, too. Wow that was a BUMMER. I won't get into how much it sucked..... But, it was still a nice set-up at this park. The park also has a skate-park at one end. It's brand new (within the last 2-3 years) and seems to be pretty popular. About midway, there is a really nice brand new restroom facility as well.
