Phyllis is the owner/operator the person I spoke with. She told me the work will be done in two weeks. I called left a voicemail after two weeks. She did return the call promptly and explained work was not done but she will take care of it. This scenario happened 3 times. Then I picked up my stuff and took it elsewhere. Have used Phyllis for 25+ years. She can do repairs that most outfits wouldn't attempt. I've been referred to her by Marmot and Western Mountaineering. I bring in grimy down jackets and she repairs the zips and poofs the down to twice the size on cleaning jobs. She takes time but she's a craftsperson not a dry cleaner. read more

I have been using Phyllis at Stitchlines for probably 25+ years now to get everything from wetsuits to outdoor equipment modified\repaired. She has a depth of experience in using all kinds of fabrics and applications that I don't think can be matched by anyone else. Yes her shop has lots of piles but she gets the work done. Rush jobs are really not part of her work process. Give her extra time to complete your job and you'll be very happy! She understands how wetsuits need to come together for the long term and fit properly. If I could give her six stars I would. There is nobody else within 1,000 miles that can do what Phyllis can do. I dropped off a set of GORETEX bibs, and a jacket in Early March. I had a few seem repairs to be done, nothing too crazy or hard. She said it would take her 2-3 weeks. Come May, she still hadn't completed the two pieces I dropped off. I had to essentially call her daily to get her to complete it. When she finally said it was completed I stopped by to pick it up and pay for it. She did not do anything correctly. She used fleece patch on the OUTSIDE to patch the rip in the seam of the GORETEX jacket. I'm going to have to remove all her work, and redo it myself with GORETEX patches. In the future, I'll be taking my outdoor goods to BMR for repair. An extra 30 min drive each way, but worth it knowing I don't have to deal with this headache ever again. read more

I hired Phyllis to make two canvas carport ends. I provided a template and the canvas. She said she could do it. I dropped them off in April 2022, she said she would have them done in 6 weeks. I checked at the 6 week mark and she said she was working on one of them. She finished the front one in September 2022 and said she was working on the back. I called multiple times and every time it was a different excuse of why it was not completed and promises to have it done week after week. I called and ask her if she couldn't do it, it was not a problem and I would take it somewhere else. She said she was working on it and it would be done on July 7, 2023. I gave her two additional weeks, finally called on July 19, 2023 and left a message that I would be down to pick up my stuff whether it was done or not. I went today (7/20/23) and she did not have my supplies or template at the shop, she said she thought it was at home. I think I was very patient with her and gave her plenty of chances and she FAILED miserably. The first one that she did finish, the stitching along the zipper is already coming apart. My experience with Stitchlines and Phyllis has been great. It just takes a little patience and kindness. I was in Denver from out of town and needed a patch job when the infamous Loveland Pass winds ripped my tent. I didn't give Phyllis much time for the repair, as it was Christmas week and I unfortunately needed to leave town before my tent was finished. With a couple of kind phone calls, I worked out a deal where Phyllis mailed my tent to me in Chicago. The stitch job is fantastic! The whole process only took a couple weeks, despite it being across a number of holidays and cities. My advice: Don't expect extraordinary turn-around times. Her great work is worth the wait. I had two zippers repaired, not replaced, at a cost of $70. One does not glide smoothly and the other broke again in less than six weeks. I emailed the owner last week about how she could remedy this. No response. Will not use her again or recommend her. read more

I bought a four-rod fly rod bag from Filson and wanted it modified to accommodate eight rods. I called Filson, bought the extra material, and went to Phyllis. We discussed and agreed on the design, she quoted a price, and I left. It was a complex project, but even so, it took a lot longer than expected. However, when I finally received the rod bag, it was a complete success and very well done. I have used that rod bag hard and, even with the modifications, performs up to the original Filson standards for ruggedness and durability. Now, I have another off-the-wall project, I'm taking it to Phyllis because I need to have it done right and to have the work last. My attitude toward the length of time it will take is this: I don't have it now. I won't have it until I get it back from her, and there will be no difference between those two conditions, so why worry. When I do get it back, it will have been done right at a fair price. The bottom line is that if you want a repair performed immediately because you have a deadline, stop sitting on your wallet and go buy a new whatever it is. If you want to have whatever was damaged magically restored to perfect condition, realized that you can have it quickly and/or perfectly done and/or cheap, but you can't have all three. Instant gratification doesn't work with Phyllis, but gratification does. I'm a fan. read more

I bought a REI backpacking pack and in a little less than 2 years the stitching that holds the aluminum frame in place came undone. I took it to REI and even though it was a clear manufacturing defect (no other damage than internal stitches ripping) they said they couldn't/wouldn't do anything since it had been over a year, but they did point me to Phyllis to get it repaired. Denver is a busy outdoors place so it took a little while to get to the top of her queue, but she did an excellent job of repairing the damage and even bolstered the other side to keep it from failing in the same way. You probably won't read the whole thing so . . . the place is totally disorganized stuff piled all over the place. It took more than three months and many non returned phone calls to get two small repairs done. It seemed over priced. I brought in my REI tent fly and a classic Alpine Designs 60/40 shell for repair and waterproofing. I dropped them off 28 August 2013 and requested them back by early October. I was told that should be okay and the price would be $75.00. The fly was ripped by a grommet and needed to be resown and have about 3/8 inch of material added. The shell had a ripped pocket. REI could not replace the fly because they no longer carried the model they recommended Stichlines. My October plans did not work out so I went in to pick the items up in early November. Not done! "But come back next week and they will be finished." Went back the next week and . . . not done. But they would be ready tomorrow "I will call you". No call. Finally went back 12 December and the jacket had been sewn, orange jacket yellow thread(?) and not waterproofed But the tent not complete, "was I suppose to add some material?". Phyllis did sew on the grommet while I waited reduced the price to $70.00. Bottom line - find a different repair shop. read more

I've known and used Phyllis for years. And yes, the shop is one big series of piles. However she is the only game in town when it comes to being certified by the big boys to do work on their gear- and she does it all from camping gear to scuba gear to just about everything. Therefore she is always always always swamped. I give her a deadline with my tongue in my cheek and have learned to check in the week before Even then (and this happened just last week) she blew the deadline, promised to deliver a backpack today by three, it's going on six pm and it isn't here yet. That's why I gave myself an extra two weeks before my drop dead date. You work within the limitations- hence tongue in cheek. She does terrific work, stands by it, gives you a discount if there are issues or you're not happy, and does do-overs until you are happy. I consider if from her end: she really is pretty much the only pro around when it comes to repairing a lot of this gear and because of this, she's buried. If Phyllis has a flaw, she over promises. But I wouldn't give my gear to anyone else because she really is the best . If I got my stuff back on time, she'd get five stars. read more

This lady is totally un-organized, unreliable and inefficient! Do not use this "professional" seamstress and find another repair shop. The seamstress had my bags for months, when I went to pick them up on the day she told me they would be ready, I arrived only to find out that she hadn't even started my project. She said she forgot to write my name on the calendar. Fast forward another month when the bags were finally ready, the finished product was totally half-assed. This did not look like a professional job whatsoever. After bringing home the bags the seams ripped. I brought them back in and asked her to repair them. She didn't listen to my instructions and half assed the repair job. Again, the "repaired" bags were not ready when she told me they would be and the finished product was laughable. I had to completley remove the work the seamstress did and start over myself. I should have asked for my money back but I'd rather leave a review here to warn other people to find another seamstress. Im sorry to report that I cannot support or write a positive review about my experience with stitchlines. I sent in my Miga Mid tent to get a zipper repair. I was told two weeks and quoted $80-100 for the repair. 3 months later with over a dozen phone messages and emails, my tent is done with the charge of $175, in which I could of easily bought a new tent for the same price. Im sorry but bad customer service, misquote and extreme tardiness will not get my business again. read more

Let me start by saying JOB WELL DONE...and FINALLY! Beyond extending a long amount of time to Phyllis to get the job done (and that's the only reason why it's 4 stars and not 5), I just opened the box and the jacket was repaired beyond my satisfaction. i guess it's a good thing i'm in the Northeast and there's no need for a ski jacket in the spring/summer. She is a true master of her art (and repairing specialty equipment/gear is an art). A $600 Burton jacket that would otherwise have been trash she repaired meticulously. Would definitely use again, and recommend, although the clear caveat would be to be patient...if you're looking for a rush job you may be disappointed however if you're looking for a job done right, and have some patience, then this is definitely the place to go. read more

Phyllis is a gem! She replaced a zipper in my treasured Go Lite parka. Go LIte went out of business a few years ago and that parka is one of my favorite pieces of outer wear. I didn't want to send it out to be fixed and was thrilled to find Stitchlines close to home. I also had her repair a funky little suede backback purse that I found in a second-hand store years ago. Again, it's a treasured one-of-a-kind, irreplacable item. Phyllis told me upfront that my repairs wouldn't be done for 6-8 weeks. It was a longer wait than I hoped for, but I got such a great vibe from her that I was happy to have her do the work and support a small businessperson. She did not disappoint!! My parka and backback purse are back in regular rotation and I'm super grateful. To respnd to other's comments about her studio -- yes, it is piled high and a bit chaotic. But many artists and craftspeople work that way. Don't let it turn you off. Phyllis knows her stuff! read more

It's hard to find someone to do the kinds of repairs she does, especially under warranty. I have used stitchlines a handful of times, they do good work. the thing is that when you are given a date to pick up an item it's never done. I have driven to pick up 2 items only to find out that 1 item is not finished and that i will have to come back. irritating. I have been quoted a price only to show up and find myself paying more. stitchlines does the best work so I put up with it. it's a no win situation. read more

I feel for this woman, I mean one look at here shop and you can understand why she has such bad review. The place is a Mess and so is she! If you take one steep into her workshop you will realize that your item is going to straight to the put off for 8 month pile. So after waiting forever, and many non returned phone calls later. I stopped into the shop to see what was going on? She told me that she would have it completed in about 2 weeks. Never received a call telling me my jacket was complete. So fast forward 2 more months so about 10 months in now. Call into the shop 3 times before someone picks up, she tells me that I will need to come in after 1PM and it will be complete. Well what do you know stop in at 1:30 and ask if its done. No its not done but come back by in a 1/2 hour and I will have it complete. Well come back 1 hour later and guess what it is complete. This was just one front zipper on a jacket. This took over 10 months to complete. I will not take any gear back to her ever. read more

Phyllis has repaired just two items of mine. One a school backpack, that she actually finished in one week, with a decent price. Otherwise, my main cautionary tale is dropping off a pair of snow shoes that needed different bindings, I was quoted 40 for the repair, back in 02/15/2014. I was told probably 3 weeks out, thus March. I kept calling, and long story short, she finally finished them 04/01/2016, with a small discount for 30 for the repair. So word of caution, great work, but you might wait for a full year, plus 2 additional months for your gear. read more
