Stirling Bus Station really is basic as far as stations go. During those cold winter months, you can go inside to warm yourself up before catching a bus to your destination. The chairs aren't particularly comfy but it's warmth nonetheless. In my case, I was headed to Crieff for a cover shift and it was early. - Too early; uncomfortably early, a-snoozing--the-alarm-seven-times-before-rising kind of early. And the station...Well, it's on the drab side but it does the job.
I'm an infrequent user of the bus station since I mainly travel by train. But I've found myself here twice recently. Both journeys would have involved a changeover if I had travelled by train. So to the bus station I trudged. The times are a little infuriating. I either had to be terribly early or really very late, meaning I had to be on the bus at a truly ridiculous hour in order to arrive on time. But it does make for a far cheaper journey.
I'd quite like to be able to pop in for info and to buy tickets before boarding the bus but I'm unsure if and when this is possible. When I was headed to Crieff, the information point within the station was closed. Perhaps it was even too early for travel information.
There's a cafe which I haven't yet tried but it looks very basic. Whilst the train station is more comfortable for waiting around in, the bus does tend to be cheaper. Regardless, I'd probably find myself at the train station far more often as the trains are much more frequent. read more
