I had Steve's Yard care for 20 years. He has treated me fantastic for all of these years. When e fist stashed on my front yard and it was terrible with Sand burrs. He took over and it took years to kill then all. He seed my front and backyard and it took awhile but my yard looks fantastic. I bought the house next door and he got it to match my yard. He took care when moles started he treated and now he pretreats to kill the bugs that te moles go after. He has also worked with my son's yard. He got the front yard looking good. I used Steve's Yard Care for over 20 years. During the pandemic I lost my job so had to seriously cut back on my expenses so stopped using his company, a major mistake. I couldn't control the weeds and thistles being seeded from the state's right-of-way next to my backyard and still paying for. I am going back to using Steve's Lawn Care to bring my lawn back to what it used to be. I have a 1.14-acre plot, 90% of which is the back yard. I first tried four other services (two of which were big national chains) and they just couldn't keep up with the yard while charging outrageous prices. I then called Steve's Yard Care. Steve's pricing is reasonable when compared to the big national chains, treatments are effective, and was reliable year after year. You used to be able to tell the difference between the health of my yard and my neighbors; now you can't. Are his workers perfect - No. Do they wear nice uniforms - No. They are human just like you and me. With a large backyard they sometimes miss an area or spread products too thin. But when I noticed it, all I had to do is call Steve, tell him what my problem was and he fixed it within a business day or two. Whether it was thistles, crabgrass, brown spots, mushrooms, fungus or whatever, Steve sent his guys back out to make it right. Then Steve would come out personally to make sure the issue was resolved. I whole heartedly recommend Steve's Yard Care for personal yard or business landscape care. I am going back to using him - check out my yard after the end of 2023 and see the difference. I wish he could take care of my gopher problem, but that's a different problem. read more

Steve charged for services he was not authorized to do, nor was there evidence he actually did them. When confronted, he lied and tried to say I had told him he could do whatever he wanted. He did not do some of the services I DID request, such as trimming some bushes and weeds. He inexplicably charged extra money every few weeks for the same mowing he did each week. He charged for applications of fertilizer he was not authorized to do. Beyond that, he came to my house at all hours, scared my kids, and called my phone at all hours. He would not take no for an answer and I considered getting a restraining order. He is not only terrible at his job, but has extremely questionable business practices and harassed people. If I could, I would give him negative stars. read more

Last year my 90 year old mother mistakenly called this company to do some yard work. When they showed up she realized her mistake and sent them away. No work was ever performed. They continue to send her bills demanding payment for work they never did. Don't ever use this company. read more

Spent way too much on lawn service, won't state too embarrassed, but $445.00 to put chemicals on the yard? $75-100 to aerate depending on the day...please! Not even going to rate him but had to to post ...I called to pay my bill and he said he could right now and to call back. Called back not answer! I was turned over to collections and I have paid the bill its still on my credit report. I called Steve again advise him to contact the credit agencies he said he did but took my info and said he would take care of it....called both agency's to file a complaint that is was paid, just got one report back saying it wasn't . If I could give ZERO stars I would. Did a shoddy job for my elderly parents, then did (supposedly) extra work that he was not authorized to do which he proceeded to bill them for. Very unprofessional appearance and very rude on the phone. Also outrageously expensive

He was all the time adding applications we didn't ask for and then convincing me it was OK I wouldn't regret getting them. Then in a month another application I didn't ask for. He would sometime come out twice a month especially late in the fall when there had been no snow. So I refused to pay for the last application ($47) and decided to part ways with him. He kept sending me a bill every month, I sent letters back to him explaining that I was not going to pay, harassing phone calls, etc. Once when he called me he even hung up on me. Then after several months of bills requesting the $47 all of a sudden a $100 late payment fee was added post dated back about 4 months. I would not recommend Steve's yard care to my worst enemy. read more

Steve called to see if he could aerate my lawn, plant grass seed and add calcium. I told him I could not afford it. He offered a discounted price. I agreed. I received the bill, but the aeration, calcium and seed work had not been done. I called Steve to complain. He said he would take care of it. Came home a couple days later and the lawn was aerated, but no seed or calcium. Paid the agreed price. Received a second invoice for even more. Now being sued by Steve. I have used Steve's Lawn Care before but never again because he is a jerk and rude. I don't trust the guy and only tried his service because I knew his sister and trusted her. I didn't know that he would be such a hard person to deal with. I also can hire high school kids to do my lawn service without Steve's help so not impressed with the quality either. Never ever use these people! They lie and charge and keep charging well after you have cancelled service. Don't ever call this clown. If you do, he will NEVER stop harassing you! I used him once for lawn treatment - he over charged me and I told him to stop all services and then hired another company. Now this guy calls every week or so and won't stop. Update: This jerk just called me again on the 21st of March, 2018. Terrible experience: nothing in writing: overcharging, I should have read all the reviews as this is just what he did to me: total bill for one season was over $1300 for a 5,250 sq. foot lawn. All I asked for was basic fertilization. Many phone calls but owner would not accept that I wanted service discontinued. Currently in litigation. STAY AWAY from this company. read more

I can't believe he's still in business. All of the stories below are exactly what happened to me starting 11 years ago with him showing up in my back yard unannounced. After 2 years of hell our yard looked worse. After paying him and saying I no longer needed him he harassed me by phone for years saying things like "I don't care what you say I'm going to treat your lawn". He would call out of the blue after 6 months and act like he was your best friend until you say NO! Then he gets rude. I would answer and hear that familiar voice and immediately hang up. Steve yard care solicited us for a 5 time application service. We agreed but soon found out he wanted to do more and more applications. Some we authorized others we did not. He would call in the morning while we were at work and before we could authorize they had already done the application. Bit of a bait and switch. We asked him to stop and he did more and we refused to pay for the one unauthorized application. He reported us to credit bureau and took us to small claims. Horrible Business Practices. He is unethical and has poor morals. He agreed to spray for dandelions and agreed on a set price to my elderly mother who is on a fixed income. When she received the bill, it was twice the amount he quoted. When Steve was called regarding why he charged twice the amount, he stated did other work that was unauthorized by my Mother. When he was asked why he took it upon himself to complete unauthorized work and charge for it, he stated my mother owed the balance and could pay when she wanted. My mother advised him she was only going to pay the price and work they agreed upon. He has continued to harass her for the overcharged amount and turned her over to collection. I have been doing research and this is common practice for Steve's Lawn Care. He has 24 complaints from the BBB on completing unauthorized work, overcharging customers and turning them over to collection. Steve is a PREDATOR of the elderly and should be avoided at all cost. I am currently filing a complaint with Nebraska's Attorney General Office for poor business practice. He should be put out of business!! read more

Steve showed up at my house unannounced very late at night. He rang the door bell and woke up my infant child. "Who could that be? This better be good..." I thought to myself. Since when is it OK to bother people late at night, asking them if their lawn needs aerated? I was just dumbfounded. Can't you mail out a flyer or something? Why the hell do you need to go door-to-door for this kind of thing? The funny thing is that my lawn was just aerated like a week prior to this. Probably hard for him to notice since it was DARK OUTSIDE! I told him I was already taken care of, and that's where I started to get pissed off, because he felt it was necessary to let me know he "could do a better job" and for a "cheaper price". Listen buddy, you will never do a better job I can already tell by your appearance that you do sloppy work. Secondly, you have no idea what I am paying now! And my guys that do the work now did not have to harass people to get business either. If this jerk Steve steps foot on my lawn again, he will regret it. Go read his BBB rating for yourself, he has upwards of 30 complaints in the last three years. There are plenty of other local lawn services that have ZERO complaints with the BBB. Lawn care isn't rocket science, and this clown Steve is obviously a con artist with no ability to retain clients. Stay away! read more

Avoid Steve's Yard Care!! He took advantage of my elderly mother. She hired him to rake her yard and he overcharged her. Then he proceeded to do additional work without her permission and overcharge again. When my sister told him to stop doing any additional work, he did it again anyway. Well, he said he did, but nobody saw him to the work. We then reported him to the BBB and the Attorney General and told him to back off. Just found a letter he that he sent my Mom to collections! it is illegal to send a bill to collections when it is in dispute! How does this guy stay in business??? Absolutely horrible service, individual and follow through. Promised 2 treatments for $35.00,, in person, on my doorstep, just to get started, only did one and started immediate billing Asked when the 2nd treatment was going to be done and was told each treatment was going to be $35.00. This was from Steve the owner, who is a liar and a cheat. Then continued to call and assumed I wanted him to continue to lie to me and cheat me with incredibly poor service. Received another call on a Sunday night, asked again when the 2nd treatment was going to be done, effectively told me he had lied to me and started cursing and physically threatening me over the phone. Invited me to meet at his shop so he could 'teach me a lesson'. My wife told me would hire Steve yard care to do our lawn applications for our 5,000 square foot lawn. She thought it would be $400.00 based on the advertised price for a lawn our size times the number of applications. Steve kept recommending different things. The bill kepy soaring so my wife called and cancelled the final two applications and Steve did them anyway. The final bill for the season came in at $1,373.00. We paid the bill but we will never use or recommend Steve's yard care again. read more
