What a cool place, they have books, CDs, and musical instruments all in the same store! I could spend all day here! Prices are decent, not always the cheapest I'm sure, but not enough of a difference to have me drive to best buy instead to check cd prices... Musical gear seems to be pretty standard for pricing. The staff I've delt with over the last year do not spek English, at all. I've dealt wit 4 or 5 of them. That's cool though cause they speak music...works. If I need technical info I have to look up online before I come. That's the only inconvenience for me, but relly it's helping me get better at French anyways. As far as negotiating rices, they don't seem like that kind of place, but I'm not the one to be able to judge when I can barely scrape by communicating in French. All in all, a great place. I keep going back! Take Amex too.

And it was his bussiness partner Jack Mcguade (who is a drummer)who gave lessons in the same building. However their association last until 1965, but Jack Long kept the name and continue his musical bussiness and the rest made history as Canada's largest chain of music retailer. What's good about this store is that not only they sells all the big brand like Fender, Gibson, Marshall, tama etc. They also take you old instruments and give you credit so you can buy better ones. And unlike Steve's music the service is good you don't have to chase a salemen to try a gtr ! Recently i bought an amplifier from Laval store amplifier had doesnt work good, and they order another one from Markam store for me, and i was able to have it one week later like they said. So they try to satisfy their customers and with so many stores it's easier. I think their next moves should be to open a big store neir dowtomn Montreal. As their ahuntsic store is very small. I think they prefer to have stores in suburb like Laval and Longueuil stores. I recommand it if you want to change your guitar or bass for a better one you can exchange it and with extra cash acquire a better one.

Nothing is better. When I returned an item last week that didn't fit my needs I was shocked that the employee would rather refund me then give me a store credit! How cool is that? They really go out of their way to make you feel important. Simon the guitar technician fixed a fret issue that was plaguing a guitar and refused that I pay since it didnt take him long. Thanks Simon.you rock. Biaggio (hope I spelled it right!) and Daniel are by far the friendliest musicians/sales advisors I've ever met. They actually ARE musician, Daniel plays with TheBox! I used to go to Steve's downtown or italmelodie and used to be that I would walk in and the crew there would make me feel like I was wasting their time or wasnt worth the extra effort needed to adress my questions. Or most of the time would ignore me. I've spent thousands now at the Laval store of Long & Mc Quade and will continue to do so as long as they keep doing exactly what they do now! I'm going in this morning for an Orange 30W tube head, I know I'll be welcomed by name and not with looks of "oh no what the hell does this guy want again". I just got back from a great experience at Diplomate. Man, I love when I'm so happy with a business…read morethat I can't wait to write it up for y'all to see! Diplomate is a small music store on Beaubien, near the metro. They don't have everything, so I hadn't thought to check them out in my last couple weeks of looking for a certain pedal. But walking by today I stuck my head in and was amply rewarded. Not only did they have it, it was significantly cheaper than anywhere else I've seen it! And even more importantly, the service: respectful, helpful, no music store snark at all. I think a player of any instrument at any level in their playing would be treated like a valued customer here, and that's as it should be. 5 stars for sure! And thanks!!

Wow, honestly their service was already pretty good prior to going to the store, but when I got…read morethere, it was even better than I expected. Let me elaborate. I had called about 5 minutes from closing and the employee who answered the phone took the extra time to check something for me even though I had said it wasnt necessary. Then, the next day, in stores, the guy dealing with snowboard gear and repairs took at least a good 20 minutes of his time to help me fix an issue and when I asked where I had to go to pay for the replacement parts, the guy tells me there's no charge (mind you it was the first time I ever went to the store; I'm not a returning customer). I was orignally told on the phone the replacement parts would cost 20$ which I would have gladly paid otherwise. I specifically made a yelp account, so that I could leave this review. My experience at their shop was absolutely positive. 10/10 would go again.
