Delicious coffee at STEREOSCOPE! Stopped in here after dinner on a Saturday night and parking was a hit tough but we made it happen. We both had the Spanish latte which was pretty sweet and rich. They make the syrups in house and seem to take coffee and matcha options pretty seriously- ceremonial matcha options and pour over coffee. Unfortunately it's pretty small and seating is limited, and we didn't see a restroom. We took the drinks to go this time. The cashier and barista had good customer service and communication skills thank you!!

Cute coffee shop tucked into downtown Long Beach It was very busy on a Saturday, but the line moved relatively quickly. There isn't much seating inside or outside, so plan ahead if you're hoping to sit and study. Parking can be tricky most nearby spots are metered, but there is free parking available on nearby residential streets if you don't mind a short walk. They offer a nice variety of specialty coffee drinks, both hot and iced. Overall, a solid spot I'd recommend, and I'd definitely return if I'm back in the area.

Since visiting LB, I am forever standing in a line to see something or buy something. Luckily this line at Stereoscope went by pretty quickly. I love how pleasant and welcoming the young lady who was taking orders was. Each customer that came to the counter was greeted and she politely took their order with no rush and made sure it was correct. You don't see that in many coffee shops for the most part. I say that because many of them seem like they dont even want to take your order! I went for the iced Madagascar Vanilla Latte with almond milk and to have it there as well. The space is pretty small and there are only windows seat available. I am happy that when it came out, it came out in an aluminum cup! Perfect for sitting and enjoying. The latte was pretty good, although I wish I could taste the espresso more. It seemed a little more milky and water down than what I am use to. Definitely a coffee shop I would stop by again when I'm in the LB area visiting friends.

Ceremonial Matcha Tea

I found myself fiending for a matcha while exploring downtown Long Beach, so I was pleasantly surprised to pass by Stereoscope. The barista was so friendly as I took a minute to think over the different ceremonial grade matcha options they offered. With help from the barista, whom I also struck up a cute little convo with, I decided on the Ujigawa matcha latte with no added sweetener. The matcha itself was very refreshing and vibrant. I don't think the picture I included does the color justice. If you don't like a bolder, earthy/umami matcha flavor, I would not recommend this specific tea especially not unsweetened. This latte was all I ordered so I have nothing to compare it to, but I liked it. I also had brought my laptop along to do some work, but was baffled by the only available outlets being on the ceiling. It's my fault for bringing along a laptop with low battery.. but still. I thought the outlet placement was so odd. This coffee shop is also pretty small. However, all the available indoor seats face outside which I thought was nice for balancing work/studying/reading with people watching.

Coffee after a stroll around the beach is always a must . I had the Spanish latte with almond milk and a butter croissant. I waited inside even though it was pretty busy . I wanted to admire such beautiful location .

Sweetened Matcha Latte

First time getting let down here :,( it also was extremely sweet, like double the usual? did the matcha or recipe ratio change?

What We Ordered: -Madagascar Vanilla Latte $7.50 -Spanish Latte $7.25 My wife wanted to go shopping at Belmont Shores, so we stopped here for a much-needed morning pick-me-up. I ordered the Madagascar Vanilla Latte, which the staff recommended as a popular choice. They even mentioned they make their own artisanal vanilla syrup in-house - what's not to love? It was a solid latte. My wife ordered the hot Spanish Latte, also recommended by the barista, and she really liked it. I tried it too and enjoyed it as well. We're glad we finally made it to a Stereoscope location and look forward to trying others in LA.

Ordered the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk (sweetened). It was so good that we came back again. The first time we went in the morning and there was a line out the door but the second time we went in the afternoon and no line! Drinks are consistent and the place is very well designed. Staff were extremely kind.

Tried their coffee for my first time last weekend and hadn't stopped thinking about the Spanish latte all week... so I had to go again today! It's SO TASTY!

Small Specialty Coffee Shop on 2nd St in Long Beach. Busy area. The Street parking is mostly all metered. The Coffee Shop has a European feel. They have an interesting coffee menu with items such as the Espresso Tonic. They also have Specialty teas, Matcha. And more. I tried the Ganache Mocha. It is a 70% dark Chocolate Mocha. It was really good. The Baristas are friendly and the service was really good. Prices are reasonable. I recommend trying Stereoscope Coffee.

It was really cool to see this place offer different types of ceremonial grade matcha with a description on their menu for each. I got the sweetened matcha which was good... but if you truly like the matcha flavor i would not recommend this one. I like a bit of sweetener in my matcha and was worried I'd dislike the unsweetened ceremonial grade which is why i opted for the pre-sweetened. But it was way too sweet for me and the matcha flavor was overpowered. Someone ordered a ceremonial and it looked SO much better -- handwhisked right in front of us, a dark green color. Def getting that when i'm back in long beach! I had a bit of trouble finding this place -- walked past it twice before actually spotting it because the sign is kind of small. The place itself isn't as small as some of the other reviews say, there is seating but on a busy day i'm sure it fills up (for reference i came ~9 am on a monday :)

Stereoscope has a location in Costa Mesa that has been on my list for a while now. I was walking 2nd street and saw this location and had to stop in. I ordered an ice latte without ice so I can drink it the next day. The coffee is nice and robust and I would recommend it. I also ordered the most expensive matcha in the menu, around $12. I would pass on this as it wasn't anything unique or special and too light. Better options abound at less cost. Great service, the barista was very friendly. Street and public parking. Casual. Indoor seating. Small merch area. Please come and create your own adventure.

Salted caramel latte and Madagascar vanilla latte

Coffee was good. I got the iced salted caramel latte and my bf got the iced Madagascar vanilla latte. Cashier was super nice and friendly. Small store with uncomfortable/limited seats.

Hi there, happy to help. What is your definition of strong?

Can I take my dog inside as I order?

We accept dogs at all locations!

Do they have decaf options?

Our decaf is a Swiss water process Colombia Aponte Honey with notes of pineapple, coconut, juicy and guava. It’s a light medium roast and available at all locations and you can also grab a bag by inquiring with our baristas. Thank you!

Are there outlets for customers to use for study?

All locations have outlets!

Is the owner same owner from OC location?

All Stereoscope locations from Buena Park, Echo Park, Newport Beach and Long Beach are from the same team. You’ll find the same quality, and customer service from each shop, regardless of the location.

Is there wifi for customers?

Yes, just ask the barista for the code!

Is there space to come in and study or WFH?

Yes, there is a long bar with barstools. 2 spots by the front window and maybe 8 spots by the side window. There is also tables out front.

Back home it's mostly Vietnamese coffee, which I love... but one of those almost sent me into an anxiety spiral with the caffeine, so I needed something more civilized this morning. This spot hit the mark. Low-key location, easy in and out, no crowds--just coffee. The people were friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. While I was sitting there browsing and trying to smell the coffee through the little vent like a weirdo, they casually mentioned the beans had been roasted yesterday. That told me everything I needed to know. Started with a drip--simple, solid, priced right. Then I rolled the dice on a peanut butter latte, which most places completely mess up. This one didn't. Still tasted like coffee, not a melted candy bar. I also grabbed some ceremonial matcha green tea powder to go, which was legit and not an afterthought. Behind the shop there are some race cars or high-end sports cars tucked into a garage space, which was kind of perfect. This is the third coffee shop I've seen operating out of a garage setup, and honestly, if that's how you keep rent down and spend the money on good beans (or fast cars), I respect it. You can also see the roasting machine while you wait, which is always cool. They've got a couple of benches outside if you want to sit and actually enjoy your coffee instead of chugging it in traffic. Bottom line: good coffee, good people, no ego. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. Easy go-to in North Long Beach.

Luckily this means that parking is always a breeze with their large marina-side parking lot. I ordered the Honey Latte and an almond croissant. This is one of the best croissants that I've had from a local coffee shop. It was both flakey and chewy, and stuffed with the most delicious almond paste. While the drink was great, I felt that it was on the smaller side for the price tag. Especially with the cold foam topper. My review is not about her, but about the "store policy." I was told the shots would be ristretto, which is not my preference, so I responded with "I'd like about 3 ounces" and was told that it wasn't going to be that. I've learned when having these conversations, it's important to skip the labels of ristretto, espresso, and lungo and just say the outcome you want. I was then told, "It's not going to be that much," and then I asked if they could simply draw it long. The response I got told me all I needed to know: "We're not supposed to. It can dilute the flavor." I told them that I didn't want it and ordered a blueberry muffin to eat with my friends while they had their coffee. If you are an espresso drinker and you don't like it ristretto, this is not the cafe for you. I think this is a really weird hill to die on for a place that claims to serve high end coffee.

I really haven't had a memorably good coffee since I stopped being a barista a few years ago. Anyways, I like to stop by Baked Vegan Sweets which is next door, and last weekend I noticed the sidewalk sign for Scary Good Coffee & I was drawn to try it. I was shocked when I found out it was all vegan! I've been vegan for 8+ years now & I have never seen a fully plant-based coffee shop. Also don't let the word 'vegan' steer you away because this shop makes the creamiest most delicious lattes. The barista was super friendly & helped me pick a drink. I ended up trying the spanish cold brew iced latte. All I can say is WOW it's made with condensed coconut milk and cinnamon, it's the perfect amount of sweetness. The flavors of the coffee itself are just incredible. I'm tempted to get my coffee black next time, but I don't think I'll be drinking anything but the Spanish latte for a while! I tried to come again on Friday but didn't realize they're only open Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm. Still craving a coffee, I searched for the closed 5 star coffee shop and let me tell you it was majorly disappointing, so I was back at Scary Good Coffee the next day. I guess I'm back to being a coffee drinker and I can't imagine going anywhere else. This will be my regular weekend treat from now on! Cannot wait til they get popular enough to open 7 days a week.
