A few years back, when I was just about to turn 18, the Ringlokschuppen was the destination of my…read moredreams. However, it is one of the places where the people at the door actually ask for ID so unless you are 18 (or for some miracle look over 30 even though you are still a teenager) you won't get in. Sounds bad for minors but actually it is quite nice because as a result the people whom you will meet inside the Ringlokschuppen are usually between 20 and 30. Therefore, you won't feel like a supervisor on a children's birthday! Oh, and if you are looking to meet English speakers, you are most likely to get lucky here because the Ringlokschuppen is pretty popular among British army people who live and work in the area. Drinks are just as much as everywhere else - there are no special drinks on the menu either. I should mention that there is a small snack place inside the Ringlokschuppen though, f you feel like a Pizza at around 4am. Most importantly: The music! There are 3 areas inside: a large hall, a slightly smaller hall and a really small hall. There are huge differences between the Ringlokschuppen on a Friday and the Ringlokschuppen on a Saturday. Friday is a lot darker, in any way. They play Gothic, Wave, Metal, Indie, Punk, etc. If you are into that sort of stuff (I sure am!) you will love it. Moshpits, jumping, screaming and rocking! Saturdays are more for the public. It used to be different, and they used to play alternative stuff on Saturdays too. That changed over the past few years. Last time I went there on a Saturday, I faced a night of Backstreet Boys, Micheal Jackson and various House/Dance music. Not so much my thing, which is why I am not going so often anymore. Ringlokschuppen in a nutshell: - Strict about the age limit (18) - Lots of English speakers - Fridays: Rock, Punk, Gothic, Metal, Moshpits - Saturdays: Pop, House, Dance, Charts, 90s Have fun :)

Ringlokschuppen is a disco/club that has multiple bars and dance floors. Since it is a club, there…read moreis a cover charge at the door and coat check is also available. I recommend using the coat check because there isn't really any place to put your coat once you are inside the disco. Once it gets busy, it is sometimes difficult to get up to the bar, so just be patient or try to find a bar that is not as busy. Drinks are a bit more expesive than at a bar or pub, but that is to be expected, I guess. Beer in a bottle is probably your best bet, if you are tight on cash. The music selection is very contemporary and includes both German and International chart toppers. I remember a lot of Madonna and Beyonce being played. For some reason, the Jackson 5 is sometimes played toward the end of the night, which I just found very strange. I like MJ as much as the next person, but ABC, 123 at a dance club? Really? Just a warning to any Americans who might venture into a German disco: Germans do not gyrate on the dance floor. Although they seem disinterested and want to dance in their own little cliques, don't be discouraged! They will dance with you, if you ask! The W.C. is pretty clean for a club/bar, but I once walked in on two girls making out in the ladies room so just keep in mind you are at a club, not the opera house. Smokers will be happy to know that if they forget their cigs, packs are sold from a vending machine inside the club. I found the best way to get to the disco was taking the Strassenbahn there, and later taking the Nachtbus back to Jahnplatz to meet up with my regular Nachtbus. The club stays open later than some of the Nachtbuses run, so it is wise to check into that before partying until 4 a.m. to find you have no way of getting home. (Clearly, I am speaking from experience, and walking home at 4 a.m. because you can't find a taxi and don't own a Handi aka cell phone or mobile really sucks, especially in the rain.)
