Don't forget: it stays light very late in the summer in Sweden. Salthomen was beautiful at 9:30 pm (21:30 for Europeans) as the sun slowly set.

Traveling down the canals is excellent, but once you get out into the harbor, what a great view of everything! The trip length is perfect, 50 minutes and you're back. If you want to go longer, there are other cruises, but if you are limited on time, this is a great way to see some historical sights and enjoy a boat ride!

We immediately opened a case, as well as tried to contact them in multiple ways - email, phone, and social media. We sent them proof of the luggage, and my name was also in it. They never really replied - a couple of times they picked up the phone but all they said was "We will check and get back to you". They have never done that. Just grab a bike at one station bike to your next stop and park the bike, For SEK125 you can use the bikes as much as you want from March 1 to Dec 1. As long as you use it only 30 minutes at a time it will cost no extra. If you use it more than 30 minutes you will be extra charged and keeping the bike for many hours will be expensive (fee is SEK40 per 30 min after 1 hour!!), so if you need more than 30 mins to arrived at your station just return the bike along the way and get another free 30 minutes. This you can do for as many times as you want. Just wait a few minutes at each station to check out the bike again. You can also use this service for 3-days - perfect for visitors! Cost is SEK10 for all 3 days! Unfortunately you cannot just go to any station, pay and pick up a bike. You either need to register online for a membership OR go to one of the specified station with credit card possibilities. Even if the rental cost is only SEK10 a deposit of 140 SEK is required. Also your card needs a chip and PIN to be good for payment. The only thing you need to think about is that you can never just bike to the place you are going to, you always need to look for the nearest station. This is a bit difficult for me to remember! Stations are every 400 meters so I never have a problem finding a station, and if one is empty or full it is never far to the next station. The one thing I could wish for, is that the last stations (furthest out) could be beyond Linnégatan. There is an app for free for keeping time and finding stations - perfect! They do not accept AMEX.

The Stromma Archipelago Cruise aboard the St. Erik was a beautiful ride among the Swedish…read morearchipelago islands (both inhabited and not), along with a delicious meal and very well appointed boat! You board the St. Erik at the Lilla Bommen dock, and it takes you first past all the immense boats and nautical ships in the harbor. That was very cool to see the behemoth cranes and giant vessels as we glided by on our little passenger craft. After we rode out of the port for a good distance, lunch was served. It was delectable Swedish meatballs (if you have had "enough" Swedish meatballs and are disappointed in this choice, you're doing Sweden wrong). Pairings were lingonberry sauce for the meatballs (yum!), sweet pickles, and some well seasoned potatoes. We cruised by Älvsborg Fortress and heard some commentary about the fortress's part in Sweden's history. It was built to protect Gothenburg from attacks via the sea, but is now defunct as a fortress and is more of a tourist spot to boat out and view it. You can also go up on the deck to view what you're passing by instead of out of the windows, and I highly recommend that. We were gliding by gorgeous rock formations in the crystal blue water, small uninhabited islands, and small fishing outposts. It does get cold up on the exterior deck outside, so definitely bring a warm sweater or jacket if you're not there in the warmer months. No matter what time of year you go, it's definitely worth the time to do an archipelago tour from Gothenburg, and the ones via Stromma that include lunch are top notch!

You can't do much about the weather, but the Brunch served made up for that. The staff were very attentive, making sure everything was to our satisfaction, and clearing the tables of dirty dishes discretely and efficiently. The dishes served were super fresh and very tasty. The selection is not huge, but it definitely covers what you want for a brunch. The desserts were awesome, and we were more than satisfied. The Chef, Lotta Bäckström, and her staff, certainly lived up to our expectations. This is one of the best things you can do if you want to combine seeing part of the Archipelago and have some great food with excellent service. We will definitely be back next summer, hopefully with some sunshine to enhance the cruise.

I only use it in the city and to neighbouring communities. They make announcements in speakers when traffic is delayed. Cash is not accepted on buses - only bank cards or prepaid bus cards. On trams you can buy tickets in cash machines (not sure if this goes with ALL trams).
