My kiddos are happy, feel loved, are learning a lot and progressing well. RCC Teachers are nurturing as they clearly love the kids. The are joyous and excited when we open the door and are greeted with a big 'Good Morning' as we put away our bags. The kids rush to one of the activity tables (eg, playdough, puzzles, building blocks) and settle in to play. They have a full day of activities - free play, dancing/singing, arts/crafts, numbers/letters/words, outdoor time, snack, nap, etc. They also work on age appropriate activities (eg, my 2 y/o is working on counting, learning shapes and colors). Both are always bringing home new school work and art. It's actually inspired me to make an art wall at home to display everything. There are lots of things for the kids to do, multiple play areas, the outside space is both my kids favorite part. They both love riding bikes, playing in the sandbox and of course the big purple dinosaur! The teachers are disciplined around schedule, activities, behavior. The kids learn to socialize, share, play together, clean up, resolve conflicts, behavior and consequences, etc. Both kiddos actually like to clean up (while at RCC only)! They resolve issues fully and quickly so that we can be comfortable that our kids are in the very best place they could be. A couple years later our 2nd went there as well. Fast forward a decade later we enrolled our 4yo there for Pre-K. He loves the whole experience. He often tells us about how much he loves his teachers and friends. It's also great knowing one of the teachers was there for both of our older sons, providing a sense of continuity over the years. As a parent we've been also happy when things aren't going to plan. When there were moments of separation anxiety (it happens) they speak directly to the child offering encouragement and working with both us and our child. It's easy to become comfortable when you know things go well in the good moments but seeing how well they handle the not-so-good moments brings comfort when we're leaving our young children with them for hours each day. On a closing note it's worth mentioning that everything in the first paragraph is 100% true.

Every day, the kids do age appropriate arts and crafts, as well as worksheets that help them learn to write their names, learn their letters and numbers, learn math concepts, and color for hand-eye coordination. They provide lunch every day, including introducing different vegetables, to help the kids learn to eat a broader variety of food. When my son graduated this year (he's going to kindergarten!) they had this adorable ceremony where all the big kids practice and practice and perform some songs during the ceremony. The kids all had so much fun. And they went home with a beautiful graduation photo in a frame, a giant poster that teacher Brenda made for them of their memories at Thumbelina, a workbook teacher Myrna made for them containing worksheets that showcase what they've learned up to that point. The admin staff, especially Ms. Lopez, is amazing and really cares about the students. Ms. Lopez is "on the ground" enough that she knows the kids names and they all say hi to her when they see her. The preschool teachers, Ms. Gwen, Ms. Margaret and Ms. Kim, are phenomenal. They approach any issues with kindness and sensitivity. They are also firm with the kids and set good boundaries and routines. Finding that balance is typically difficult, but they do it with finesse! The curriculum here, even with the preschool class, sets the kids up for success in higher grades. It balances play and fun with learning. From letter recognition to name writing to "STEM" - via tiny science experiments - music and Spanish, outdoor play and story time, they do it all. Since day one, my child has been excited to go each day and has thrived in the Harper environment. The learning progress I've seen, especially at such a young age, is astounding. Our son joined the Kindergarten program halfway through the year in Jan '25. He had been at a well-regarded RWC public school, but unfortunately he struggled there with behavior, academic, and motivation issues. Basically, he was slipping through the cracks. He was regressing academically, and most worryingly to me, he was starting to hate going to school. He started at Harper at the mid-year break. There was certainly an adjustment period - the Harper kids were *so* far ahead academically. But, the curriculum is individualized and the support was tremendous. It was amazing how quickly he improved on all fronts: behavior, academics, and motivation. He literally sprints from the car to class each morning. He is so excited and talks about what he learns constantly. He has developed a positive attitude, curiosity, and emotional maturity beyond anything we could have hoped for. Ms. Shaynee, his teacher, is an absolute rock star. We feel so lucky to have had her as his teacher. The class size for elementary grades at Harper is absurdly small right now. Like, 5-10 kids. At first, I thought it would be weird. But it's actually a wonderful number for this age, and it makes Harper such an incredible deal. It's obviously a new school and a new program, and I'm hoping it grows with him as he progresses through the grades. Overall, if you are looking for a private elementary, I just can't recommend Harper enough. No private school in this area is cheap, but I feel we get incredible value for our dollar. The fact that the aftercare is so affordable helps. Also, we hear that if you have multiple kids there then the cost goes down a lot.
