Horrible customer service. Called them like 7 times, nobody answered. I walk down here and there are literally 5 barbers sitting down not doing shit. First of all, my hair is my crown. Second, I'm not too keen on cutting it again but am aware, it's time. Third, you guys gave ME an attitude for feeling unwelcome in a barbershop I've never been too? So I walk in, energy is weird, the only people talking are 1 barber and his client. The rest have headphones in. No one says hi, no one trying to talk to me until I became uneasy and upset. READ ENTIRE REVIEW There is good and bad aspects to this review. I researched Stellar Cuts because I would be staying in the Miami area and would be in need of a cut. All of the reviews seemed pretty good and and their Instagram photos of clients looked real good. I even went as far as looking up barbers public instagrams for haircut pictures. All seemed well. I decided to contact the shop via their website, but I recieved no response. I tried a second time and finally got a response. I was told to call the shop so I did. I made an appointment over a month before I would be coming in. I spoke to a person and made my appointment which was date and time specific like usual. When I showed up to the appointment, I was told I did not have an appointment and I would have to wait. So I contacted the person who returned my email from the website. They called me almost immediately and stated they are on their way and would take care of it. They also had other barbers come in because I was with 3 other people. I thought that was great customer service. As we waited 2 of my group decided to go elsewhere. About 30 minutes later, a barber freed up and took me in his chair. I told him pretty specific what I wanted. At the start of the cut I noticed that the barber's clippers were clogged with hair and dirty. During the haircut it appeared that he did not know what he was doing, and when I asked about the crooked part he was about to put in my head he informed me it was his professional opinion. I did not agree and made sure he fixed it. As the haircut continued it felt like he was cutting the skin off of my head. He constantly went over the same spots in an inconsistent manner. I am aware of the process of fading hair and his constant trimming of the same spot was excessive. The whole time I wanted to jump out of the chair and have someone else cut my hair, but I did not want to be disrespectful. It is safe to say I wish I did for the sake of my haircut. It was 100 percent the worst haircut experience I have ever had. Thankfully I brought my own clippers with me in case this happened. I cannot say the entire shop is terrible, but I hope my review will help others. I do not know the barber's name because the conversation was basically non existent. Although, he was apologetic at the beginning of the cut for the mix up. I attached some photos to show the inconsistency in the haircut. Absolutely happy I made this decision because I was beyond please with my son's haircut. The staff was very courteous and hospitality, and Flash did an amazing job on my son's fade! I've personally known Jason, the owner for 20+ years, he is a lifelong friend of mine.....I'm also originally from New York so even though he is my friend, there will be no bs in this review. He is by far and away the best barber I've ever had and has been cutting my hair all this time when i lived here and whenever i travel here. I've seen some of the other reviews on here and idk, i feel like people talk crap sometimes just to talk it. You will not get a better fade, taper, blowout, caesar or design cut from any other barber in Miami. This is coming from almost 3 decades of getting my haircut literally the same way almost every time. From before he even had the shop and was only doing private clientele in the apartment. Private clientele that started with friends and grew to Dwayne Wade n company. If you are pretentious and picky, this might not be the place for you. Go to a salon. If you're a real one interested in a real experience and coming from where we come from, look no further. I applaud my guy and will continue to do so. I can't speak on his other barbers however i can say times are hard and we are definitely out here living different. It's difficult to find good employees. If you want the best cut you ever had in your life, book with Jason, wait if you have too, pay extra if you have too. He explained his hair philosophy to me which went something like "everybody's got a million dollar look, whether you've got a million dollars or not. Just moved here and needed a new barber shop. When I found this place online, I was convinced because of the pictures they posted. I called to make an appointment and when I got there they let two people before me and made me wait an hour. When they finally called my name they made the guy that sweeps the floor cut my hair. My hairline was messed up and my beard was uneven. My neck was bleeding. (No I'm not exaggerating sh*t) if you're new here I don't recommend it. read more

Moving from a city where you have a great hair cut within walking distance to a new place where you don't have anyone to cut your hair can be very difficult. I found myself in this position about 3 months, but thank God for Jay. My roommate found him online and told me that we should check him out, once I got my first cut I knew I had found my guy. I'm not overly picky about my haircut because I've gone between hairstyles A LOT. What I have never gotten in my life is a fade as clean and even as the one that I get every 2 weeks from Jay. I know that when I walk in there I'm going in to do more than get a cut, I'm going in there to catch up with a really great dude and in the meantime he gives me a wicked cut. I can't say enough about Jay's ability to cut hair and him as a guy. I always look forward to weekends when I need a cut!! read more

I thought about this review for two weeks before writing..... Upon moving back to to Miami in early June (Midtown/Wynwood), I was surprised to see how many empty condos had popped up, and also sad to see that my preferred barber shop was gone (UpperKutz). One Friday morning a quick google search directed me to the Chop Shop, smack in the middle of the increasingly "posh" Wynwood, off N. Miami Ave. The shop itself is on the second floor of the building, spacious, and pleasantly furnished with gritty, intellectual art, mostly counter-culture pieces by the same artist behind #FreeYourMind, and more recently #IAMHUMAN, if you've been in Wynwood for a few years you'll definitely recognize it from a street mural. I was politely greeted by the receptionist, who immediately asked if I had an appointment, upon which i replied that I didn't (There were no clients at the time anyway).I was promptly introduced to one of the two Barbers who cut there, and also to the designer/artist of the shop. I quickly sat down and the barber efficiently hooked me up with a skin fade, while we all made small talk about the shop, and the ever changing neighborhood. He finished my haircut just in time to help a recently arrived appointment. I thanked him for hooking me up despite not having an appointment, and was directed to the receptionist to pay. She politely informed me about the procedure for making future appointments, and also about the "buy a kid a haircut" program. I payed for my haircut, and tipped my usual 10$, for a total of 35$. ------ My gripes with my experience at Chop Shop are based on about 20 years of visiting different shops, and different barbers, in different cities (I'm not an international Jet Setter or anything, but NYC, DC, Miami, San Diego...just a few). When I find a good barber, I stick with them, until they move to another shop, to another city, or visa versa, the business closes...etc. Most dudes in Miami are serious about their shape-up, and I can confidently say that there is at least one GOOD barber in almost every/any shop...i.e there's alot of competition for barbers, and as a customer there's really no need to go across town if you don't want to. With that being said, the Chop Shop felt more like a hair salon then a barbershop...there was no ESPN, there was no Madden/Live, there wasn't even an old mixtape playing on low volume. There was essentially no "hustle", and I personally get a recharge when I walk into a busy Barbershop, full of working men from all walks and ages, preparing their work week, or just getting fresh for the weekend, while talking Shh and swallowing spit about the latest in whatever. "Appointment only" says to me that as a spontaneous, single guy, I can't just pop in for a fresh tape after work on Tuesday, because I got a hot text and want to look good that night. Especially when there's only TWO barbers in the shop; I always pick a "back-up" in the same shop (who is usually equal in skill), what if the "other" barber isn't that good though? In conclusion, I think it's an interesting setup, but basically two really smart barbers (plus an artist) are making up for their lack of clintele, and or inabilty to keep up with their clientele, by overcharging for appointment only haircuts, when you can get a nice fade/blowout anywhere in Miami for 12-15$. In addition, they've taken away the masculine fluidity of "the Shop", that is so culturally relevant, there's even a movie franchise about it (BarberShop, Barbershop 2 & 3). Appointment or no, I never mind waiting around a few minutes at my home barbershop, it's a relationship after all. Finally, the haircut I got wasn't even that great. Maybe he rushed mine for his appointment, which I anticipated when I asked for just a tape, but the barber insisted he could do a full cut quickly. Both the edge up and fade were dull after just two days. I wish them well, but most likely won't be back to the Chop Shop. read more

My flight landed and I was on the way to the Fountainebleau for a corporate function. I was coming off 5 weeks out of the office and hadn't shaved or had a haircut. I walked up the stairs to a shop currently being constructed and had one of the best hair cuts in my life. Clean trim all around, check. Neck cleaned and squared with a straight razor, check. Beard trimmed and lined beautifully then cleaned rest with straight razor, check. Great products and all around amazing. Charge? Only $30. I had to tip $15 mainly because I had cut my cheek earlier and all this was done perfectly. The beard was worth $30. I only get down to Miami twice a year so while I can't give them the business they deserve I can tell you that if you aren't going here you are making the wrong decision. I was in Miami on vacation and my hair was getting out of control so I started looking for places to go and came across this place. I was excited because it looks like they do good work and after I found them I didn't wanna go anywhere else. I called the shop at around 10:15 and spoke to a barber that said he would be free at 11:30. So I should up at 11:25 and he is right in the middle of cutting a walk-in, the other barber asked if I was a walk in and I said no I called ahead and he just went on about his business playing pool with a kid. Had to do this. Probably my 5th time coming here thinking I would find someone who could cut my hair the way I want it. Every time I've come home to get a good look in good lighting I see uneven lines, shorter hair in areas that's not supposed to be and I end up having to fix it myself because it looks bad.
