Personally I love this place, but one thing I have ALWAYS noticed in the 7-8 years is that, there is always a different worker. I've had about 3-4 friends post online about how they'd work here and then get let go randomly because the owner can't "work out the schedule" I could always tell in the past that the workers would always be tired and confused, Stella really needs two people working and she needs a better system. Very adorable clothes. The style is mostly 50s and 60s grunge mixed with other colorful clothes. They also had plenty of alternative styles to choose from. A lot of the clothes were dresses but they also had shirts and skirts. Highly recommend to look here for clothes read more

I saw the storefront and got super happy. It looked as though it was a vintage repro shop much like Bettie Page and Tatyana I walked in and was shocked to see it was more a costume shop. The clothing was a mockery or vintage repro. And it was same clothing you got off Amazon for 12 bucks yet was marked to 48 and 80 dollars. Also appeared they sewed on makeshift Stella Mae labels. And that's forgivable I'm not one to begrudge a company trying to make money. The handbag selection was mostly sourpuss brand with one Lux Deville. Some good beauty books though such as Your Beauty Mark and vintage hairstyle books that were reasonably priced. But front of the store was looking like a goth shop. Perhaps due to Halloween..I could overlook that but the non help from employee at register who just mad dogged me as I browsed turned me right off the store In a nutshell it's a fun store and people will buy the items for the price but the employees need to make folks more welcome. Not try to be uber cool and distant. I would have bought a lot of the stuff because that's my interest but I will not give money to some snotty beehived gal with a bandanna who didn't utter one word to me read more

I was on a trip to Hot Springs and was walking back to my car when I saw this shop. I love 50s inspired outfits and unique pieces you can't get anywhere else, so I was super excited to stop in! I'm not really sure about the reviews saying the employees were no help. I'm not sure who I was helped by (actually I think it was the owner herself), but she was super nice and helpful. When I wanted a specific cross body bag, I noticed the only one in stock was a little rusty. I told it to her and she was happy to go find more. She ended up going up in her front display (that the window shoppers see from outside) in order to get me a new one from a mannequin. She was great and super helpful! They have a nice selection too. I book marked Stella Mae's for a trip I had been planning months in advanced. When I came to the store today, I was so excited to go in and shop. I loved the style and there was plenty of great clothes and accessories. Unfortunately, I was never greeted or even acknowledge by the two employees there and my daughter and I were the only people in the store. I would have loved to continue to shop or purchase merchandise but didn't feel very welcome so we walked through the store and headed out. The dresses on display are cute, and no where to be found in the store. The salesperson was not interested in greeting, helping, and otherwise making us feel welcome- the only people in the store. When we asked about buying one of the dresses on the mannequin the response is they are samples only. They have design details that are not found on any item on the floor. Items available are basic like an A-line skirt. Not at all what the store front looks like they would offer. read more

Simply adored my trip to Stella Mae's! We were in Hot Springs for the weekend and I stopped in the shop every day. It's got a very Pin-up Rockabilly meets Elvira Gothique type of feel - the kind of shop I would expect to see John Waters and Elvira hanging out in if they ever visited this lovely town. They were having a sale when I came by so I was able to score a pair of dangling cherry earrings, eyeball studs, and vintage-looking clip-ons I bet my grandma would have loved back in the day all for $9.46 - deal! Almost got a really cool American Psycho dress with blood splatters featuring a screaming Christian Bale across the bustline - but alas that will have to wait for the next chance I get to return to Stella Mae's...which hopefully will be very soon. read more
