I had dinner with my friend at Henrici when we were visiting Eisenstadt earlier this month. The…read morelocation is so convenient and the building is beautiful, but the food was easily the worst we had on our trip. We had a reservation, but the restaurant was empty when we arrived. Our waitress didn't speak English and we don't speak German, but she was lovely, helpful, and friendly, and we made it work. She did everything she could to make our night at Henrici wonderful. We started by ordering a few glasses of wine, but the first few I tried to order, they didn't have. Then we ordered food, but several of the dishes we tried to order were also not available. We ordered baba ganoush; labneh; pita bread and focaccia for the dips; and falafel (curry, spinach, and coconut rice). Some aspects of the dishes were fine (the labneh and baba ganoush), but other aspects were simply terrible. The focaccia was inedible (it was so stale that there were a few pieces that we couldn't bite into them at all). The rice served with the focaccia was stale and in clumps. Some of the food just wasn't very fresh, and our lovely waitress couldn't save the meal. Our meal was a disappointment.

Service was good, food - ok. nothing to post to your facebook feed. it has a nice outdoor patio looking at the palace, so that was nice. Maybe I'm picky - this place was OK, I may come back, but maybe not.

You don't come to Austria looking for Chinese food, but when you've spent two weeks in Austria, you…read moregrow a little tired of the local fare and wish for something more exotic. Chinese can be a good option. And this is good Chinese. Like many restaurants, they do have English on their menus. It's pretty easy to find what you like. The dishes they serve taste much the same as Chinese restaurants in America, and since I've yet to visit Asia, this is my only point of reference. And frankly, this is what I was looking for. The service was good, the restaurant is clean (even the restroom), the food was tasty and the prices were reasonable. All-in-all, everything was top rate, so I give it five stars.

Overall a good find for a Chinese Restaurant in the middle of Rural Austria. Note: We collected…read moreour dishes 30 minutes after we told the restuarant we would pick it up, which could have affected the quality of what we ate. First Off: Their duck dish with vegetables was superb. My cousin ordered this dish, and from what I tasted it was the best of our selection of 5 dishes. Great flavor, spice and texture, though the crispiness could be slightly improved. The veggie fried rice was also good, though could be slightly more fried. The mixed veggie and tofu dish was also good, with a great sauce, the main thing I would have improved would be the crispiness level of the tofu. The spring rolls were interesting: being a california resident our spring rools are small, round, crispy and tubular, however these "rolls" were flat and slightly hilly, and a bit soggy- filled with pork and chinese veggies- which were sadly not too tasty to me, although my 2 nephews loved them. The sweet and sour sauce for the chicken could have been a bit sweeter and the chicken more crispy (they had a similiar texture as the spring "rolls"/hills). The fried bananna desert was standard though also lacking crispiness and could have definitely been improved by adding a hefty scoop of coconut ice cream to go with it. Last disappointment: They did not understand when I asked for General Tsos chicken- which was a shock for me. I hope they add General Tsos and Sesame Chicken to their menu next time I visit Eisenstatt. If you are looking for a satisfying Chinese dining experience in Austria, this place comes recommended although they could take a lesson or two from observing the texture of real crispy chicken from some authentic chinese-american spots in either New York or LA.
