In 10 years of Yelp, this is my first 1 star review. I thought I lucked out by getting in due to a cancelation by calling since I was in the area. Usually appointment only. Spoke to the owner, worked with a manager. If you need a general cleaning, they do fine work. The parts of the car that weren't really dirty look good. I took my car in because the dogs had tracked mud or something on the backseat. I specifically told them that was what I wanted worked on. If they did the rest, whatever, but I wanted those spots gone. 2 hours and $300 later, you can still see some of the spots. Couldn't tell until the fabric dried. The main reason for the ratin is that they threw away personal items they deemed "trash". Didn't ask, even though I was sitting in the lobby. Just threw away multiple items and didn't return others to my vehicle. The items weren't expensive or difficult to replace, but it is a lack of respect for someone else's property, especially when they are paying you for a service. I had to go back and make them look around the work area for what was missing. Still didn't get everything back. The owner apologized "for the inconvenience". Also, if you still decide to give this place your business: Make an appointment and do drop off. Don't wait. They don't have a comfortable waiting room. read more

They were super attentive to my Mold Issue when I got back from a 5 week vacation. Best car mold remediation service in Tacoma/University Place. I was away on vacation for over a month not knowing that one of our cars had a leak in the sunroof. I came back to a car full of mold as shown in the images. What an amazing service! Quite possibly the best detail I've had ever. Never mind going to the car dealership, from now on it's strictly this place. I have a Husky and even with seat covers, everything is saturated. I found not ONE strand of hair after the detail was complete. Our car was stolen, and by the time it was located over a week later, someone had been living in it. It was impossibly dirty, and when the police handed it over to us, they basically shrugged and said, "you deal" when it came to all the stuff that someone had packed into the passenger seat, backseat and trunk. All full nearly to the ceiling/lid. I was super anxious about what might be in all the layers and how hazardous it might be. I called Steam Green and described the situation and they said, no problem, bring it over. They dealt with all the trash and dirt, deep cleaned all the carpet and upholstery and returned it to me looking better than it did before it was stolen. I've taken my car to get a thorough cleaning before and they've never done a great job. Took my car to Steam Green for a simple vacuum and to remove the pine needles and dog hair. I was skeptical at first because other places I've been to don't get all the pine needles or dog hair but this place did an outstanding job!!! It was a $50 charge but I gave them a $10 tip because I was so impressed. I'll be returning to get my seats cleaned and sanitized at some point. My car looks brand new! read more

Cannot rave enough about Efrain and the job he did. The man is professional, detail oriented, humble and a perfectionist. I have a 2015 Chevy Colorado that needed a little love. Shot him a call, exchanged some texts and got on his schedule (which was very flexible). Dropped my car off at his new University Place location. He quoted me the price point prior to showing up. When I arrived he did a run down of what he was going to do and that it would take about 4-5 hrs which was fine because I was going hiking for the day. He kept me posted throughout the day and informed me the job was taking a little longer than expected because he wanted to get it right and work through some of the finer scratches on my truck from rushed automatic car washes in the past. I had no reason not to believe him nor was I in any real rush; I just wanted a good quality detailing. I told him no issue and I picked it up the following day. I'm blown away by the car. The paint looks amazing, the interior looks and smells brand new. The level of detail oriented care is amazing. This is a guy that really cares about the job he does. Stressful move to Hawai'i and wanted to be sure our car passed inspection for shipping. Set the appointment up through Yelp before we drove the car over from the East Coast. Efrain's quote was not the lowest, but he had the best reviews, guaranteed passing inspection and his shop is close to the dock at Port of Tacoma. Arrived early for 8:00a drop off, but no one was there. We were running a very tight schedule, so I stayed behind while my spouse took our dog to his health certificate appointment. After triple checking the confirmation, called Efrain to find out that he didn't have the appointment in his calendar.  Efrain later said that a woman (not me, obviously) had called last week to cancel her Monday morning appointment and he assumed it was me and told his men to come in at 9:00a. Assuming mine was not his only appointment, I think it's concerning that he didn't get the woman's name and just arbitrarily cancelled my appointment. The onsite quote was $350 (fine) + $60 for pet hair (fine) - $10 military discount and no cash discount (fine) but then he said it would take about 6 hours and would be ready by 4pm!! In my Yelp message thread, I made sure to mention that I needed the car ready for inspection at the Matson dock by 2:30p (which didn't seem to be an issue at the time). So he then said that he could put an extra man on it, do some of the work himself and get it done no later than 1:00p. I texted at 1:30p, since I hadn't heard from him yet. He immediately called back, said the car was ready and that he had texted someone else by mistake. The detail work itself was very good and consistent with the cost and the amount of time to complete it. Everything was clean, inside and out. The floor mats were left in the trunk to ensure the floors were completely dry before putting them back in place. He gave us an additional $20 discount for all of the misunderstanding. We made it to the dock with about 10-15 min to spare. Had I known that he would need the additional time, I would've scheduled the drop off for early the next morning. I would recommend Efrain to anyone who isn't running on tight schedule, and to confirm your appointment at least a couple of days prior. read more

I had been pushing off vacuuming the dirt from the floor mats in my car for the longest time. I had a ton of dirt and leaves from what the weather has brought (yes I now see the benefit of mat covers). Anyway, I could have easily gone to a self-wash and vacuumed the carpets myself but wanted a more thorough job done. I went straight to my buddy Yelp to search up local car washes and Steam Green Auto Detailing was the first that popped up with high ratings. I didn't need a detailing job but decided to call and inquire if they offered any basic services. I got connected to Efrain who was extremely warm and kind from the get go. He shared with me the services they typically offer and I explained that I merely needed a simple vacuum service. He told me not to worry and to bring my car in and they would take care of it. I shared with him my initial concern about the cost (as I know I could pay much less to self vacuum) but Efrain made me feel at ease and told me not to worry, and he worked with me to determine an affordable cost. At the shop, his team did a wonderful job with my carpets even gave my car a pressure wash! When I got in the car I saw the driver's mat even had a plastic covering to step on just like when you purchase a car new (talk about VIP Service)! I can tell Efrain manages this shop very well.
