Beef roll pancake, Chinese Burger with roasted pork

TBH, we came here to try the soup dumplings and they weren't bad, but just not as good as other places. I was craving beef roll pancakes but these were aight, and the chinese burger was also aight, i didn't want to finish it. Perhaps we should've ordered more dumplings instead of the pancakes and the burger, but they looked appetizing in the pictures and we've been wanting to find a good place with those beef roll pancakes and wanted to try something new with the burger. Both were a slight disappointment. Service was good and fast though.

Unfortunately the soup dumplings (1/5) are no longer good here. They must have changed chefs or something but the last 3 times we've been, the xlb have gotten progressively worse. The most recent experience was the most disappointing as when we received our soup dumplings, they were all busted and flat. Gone are the days of beautifully plump dumplings filled with savory soup. I asked the waitress if something went wrong and she told me it was normal and the soup dumplings always looked like that. I assured her they didn't. We were starving so started eating and I figured if this was the new norm, I wouldn't return anyways, as there's another place nearby with plumper soup dumplings. Finally another waitress came by, took a look, went away and there was some sort of pow-wow with maybe a manager. Then one of waitresses came back, took the dumplings and said they'd give us another one. I appreciated it but we were already starving and having to wait another 15 min wasn't optimal. Second try on soup dumplings was not great either as 1/3 were busted and the rest looked anemic. Anyhow, I take back my claim of best xlb, as I get better results from the frozen grocery store version. Their beef pancake roll is still good though (5/5)

The dumplings were a 10/10 so fresh and hot ! The chili oil was so good man !! I enjoyed coming here . I will absolutely be back here .. SOON ! Service was great 10/10. Looks very clean inside ! The prices are $10-20. I wish they had sides because prices are à la carte . However great place !!

Steam Dumpling serves delicious Chinese food. The scallion pancakes were a great light appetizer. The vegetable chow mein was perfect and the fried rice paired nicely. The most incredible part was my family and I did not feel bloated after we ate! I will definitely be back!

We decided to order takeout from Steam Dumpling since the weather was dreary. You can place a pickup or delivery order online. We decided to do pickup, which they said would take 30 minutes but our order was ready in 10 minutes. We ordered the Wontons in Spicy Chili Oil which comes with 10 pieces for $13.99. We also ordered the Steamed Shrimp and Pork Dumplings (10 pieces) for $13.99 and Cheese Wontons (5 pieces) for $5.99. Everything was delicious and chili oil is so spicy that it made me sweat but it was more the seeds/chili flakes in the oil that added the spicy kick. The only drawback for me is they charge you an extra $1 for soy sauce and chili oil and I hate when restaurants charge you more for to go condiments that would be free if I dined in. My husband said the inside of the restaurant was small, like a normal Chinese restaurant but it was okay. Overall, I would order takeout from here again.

My family and I came here on Saturday around 530 am. We were seated very quickly. The staff was quick and checked on us every once in a while. All of our dumplings were amazing and had soup in it except for two in the actual soup dumpling one which was weird. The green beans can use some work. They actually accidentally gave us the eggplant dish but I think we should had ordered that instead. My favorite was the beef roll pancake. I would like it with a bit more meat but it was still really good. I'm still thinking about it. The place was very clean. Our table and chairs were stable. Parking is free and out front.

Smashburger then dumplings? Yes, please! Very nice waitress, super cute spot with a little outdoor seating, no cover. First time here so trying a variety of dishes, so we tried the cucumber salad, xiao long bao, the mix of the fam dumplings, wide hand, pulled noodles with chili oil and lest we forget, the sesame balls. Everything came out hot and steaming and absolutely delicious. This will definitely be a place that we come back to again and again.! ha ha

Ordered the Wide Hand Pulled Noodle, Cucumber Salad and Beef Roll Pancake - all were delicious! Hand pulled noodles or Biang Biang Noodles are my all-time favorite noodle dish and they do them pretty well here. The flavor of the chili oil sauce mixture was well balanced. The cucumber salad was fresh and a nice contrast to the oily carbs I was eating lol. Service was friendly and efficient.

A friend in katy recommended this place as her "new favorite dumpling spot" so I knew I had to try! We came here on a Thursday evening and there was plenty of seating. However, 6 year olds must dine at a booth and those were all taken so we had to wait a bit before one opened up. Afterwards the lady came, brought us our waters and promptly took our order. 10 minutes later we were digging into our dinner. We got the pork and cabbage steamed dumplings, corn and chicken dumplings, clear beef noodle soup, and spicy wontons and we loved everything. My favorite was probably the clear beef noodle soup as the broth was light, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Their thinly sliced beef pieces were also tender and delicious. Dumplings were delicious as well. I'd say their dumplings taste more "sophisticated" compared to other dumpling places I've tried in Katy. Wontons were good as well, although the skin was just a tad thick. Overall steam dumpling is another great addition to the growing dumpling scene in katy. Highly recommend!

Went here with my girlfriend after church and this place definitely hit the spot! I've been to some decent dumpling spots, but they were mostly in Chinatown. Outside of Chinatown, it's very hard to find some good tasting, authentic dumplings. This nice little restaurant settled in a shopping center asking 99 Grand Parkway, Steam Dumplings has something for everyone! We ordered three things: the Xiao Long Baka, the Clear Broth Beef Noodle Soup and the Pan Fried Pork and Cabbage Dumplings! We were pleased with what we got, especially the pan fried dumplings! That had to be our favorite, hands down! Great parking, nice staff and waiters, the interior was simple, organized and well kept! I will be back to eat again! They didn't disappoint!!

My daughter and I ordered beef and onion pan fried dumplings, honey walnut shrimp, and the soup dumplings. The soup dumplings tasted like the broth was old! They were not good we were only able to eat a few. I think there are better choices out there.

Pleasantly surprised by this dumpling shop in South Katy off Fry Road and 99. The service is very attentive, so I wanted to start out with that. The place isn't too crowded (for now) but still has good traffic for middle of the day. The XLB / Soup Dumplings-- WOW. Everyone says to go to One Dragon, but these are better. You can actually see the soup sloshing around inside the dumpling. They are so juicy, and tasty. Fresh, and you get 10 for $12.99. Definitely enough for 1 person as a meal or 2-3 people to share with other dishes. They welcome family style eating too. I have already been here twice, and enjoyed both my visits. For an appetizer, I had the potato shrimp thing, which looked beautiful, but I thought it needed more seasoning, or a better dipping sauce to give it more flavor. Parking is great, never had a problem.

Delicious food here! The soup dumplings were fresh, thin, and filled with soup. The flavors were very balanced but flavorful. The chili oil wontons had a sichuan oil that was also very flavorful and added some spice. For the green beans we added beef into the dish and everything was great! We also ordered the spicy beef noodle soup (no pic), noodles seemed to be freshly made, beef was very tender and the soup had the perfect kick to it. Will definitely be back!

We got the roti canai and salt and pepper calamari as appetizers, and the sizzling tofu, beef rendang, CK teow as entrees. - Sizzling tofu (6/5): A MUST TRY! I've never had tofu with this texture before. The outside is slightly crisp and the inside so light and fluffy, it feels like bitting into a cloud. The tofu tastes like a creamy egg soufflé and the sauce is savory and salty with pieces of sauté onions that add a nice crunch. The presentation was also very striking with the server pouring the sizzling sauce over the tofu. It's just such a beautiful dish that I would go back solely for! - Beef rendang (4.5/5): Overall a delicious and hearty dish. The beef was very tender and juicy, and there was a generous amount of it. The potatoes soaked up the sauce very well and made the dish extra filling. I forgot if we got to pick a spice level, but the dish had a nice kick to it and wasn't overwhelming spicy. - "CK teow" char kway teow (4/5): This dish had a lovely char tasted to it that made it very addictive. Just a nice savory noodle dish. I think my only complaint was that the portion was on the smaller side - Salt & pepper calamari (3.6/5): This was a pretty good calamari. The calamari had a light and crispy exterior and was pretty tender and seasoned really well. The chunky veggies were a nice touch texture wise. - Roti Canai (3.6/5): the Indian bread was so nice and flakey, I could've eaten it alone. The curry was also really tasty and flavorful, just a little bit watery. Service/ambiance: Service was excellent and they gave us so much rice. The restaurant was dimly lit, giving it a nice ambiance for dinner or a date night.

This place delivered where it mattered most, especially with the highly reviewed appetizers. Probably one of my favorite drinks here was the Thai Green Tea. It has a really interesting flavor that stands out from regular Thai Tea -- more earthy, but not quite like matcha (we guessed there might be pandan in it). Just a heads up: it's definitely on the sweeter side. My partner and I actually let the ice melt a bit before continuing to drink it, which helped balance things out. I came back a second time and still loved it just as much. The dipping sauce felt like a truly authentic representation of Vietnamese cuisine. It was a lightly diluted fish sauce with spicy red pepper and plenty of garlic -- simple but really flavorful. I also appreciated that the table setup let you customize it to your taste. In my first experience here, we ordered the Bánh Xèo, Bánh Khọt, and Bánh Bột Chiên. I was hands down a huge fan of the ginormous Bánh Xèo -- crispy, flavorful, and just overall my favorite (though I'll admit I'm a little biased toward it already). Meanwhile, my boyfriend completely fell in love with the crunchy Bánh Khọt. That said, I did notice a slight graininess in the Bánh Khọt, which took away a few points for me. The Bánh Bột Chiên was solid and got a pass from us, but it wasn't our top pick -- mostly because we've had better versions elsewhere. Other worthy notes: the herbs were fresh and crisp, and the pickled vegetables were refreshing as well (though my boyfriend thought they could've been a bit more strongly pickled). Eating everything the traditional way -- wrapping it in lettuce with herbs -- made the whole experience even better. Honestly, I would come back just to order two Bánh Xèo. I actually came back a second time before posting this review, this time with my family. We ordered the Bắp Xào, Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc, and a simple rice dish. This visit was a bit different -- across the board, we all agreed the dishes leaned too salty this time around. I could also tell the staff was overwhelmed, with only two people handling both the front and the kitchen, so it was tough to get their attention at times. That said, the Bánh Xèo still held its ground. My parents were genuinely impressed by the size, and for me, it's still an absolute banger -- something I'd come back for again and again purely for flavor and value. The Bắp Xào really stood out to me in a nostalgic way. I loved the use of traditional Vietnamese corn, and the sautéed dried shrimp brought back memories of flavors from dishes I grew up eating, even if I couldn't quite pinpoint which one. While my mom thought it was too salty, I actually felt like it would pair perfectly with a bowl of plain white rice. I also tried some of my brother's Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc and found the beef to be tender and flavorful, though not particularly standout compared to other places. I've had very similar versions nearby, but it's still my brother's go-to -- though I suspect that might also be his way of loading up on protein. Overall, even with the inconsistency during the second visit, I still really enjoy Yummy Quan -- especially for the appetizers. It's a place I'd bring family and friends to try, and I'm still curious about more of the menu... but realistically, I could live life on Bánh Xèo alone. At the end, you also get to grab some guava candy, and for anyone who's never had these, don't forget to pick some up -- they're simply delectable!

We let the ice melt a bit and it made for a great palatte cleanser. Banh Xeo (4.5/5): Definitely one of their signature dishes. I read the reviews on how large it was and it was still shocking! See my hand for reference. It's crispy and delicious. Two downsides: Not enough protein, and not enough lettuce to make wraps with how big it is. But overall, definitely one of the best I've had outside of homemade. Banh Khot (4/5): These little flavor explosions are a perfect bite size and are also a signature dish. Would definitely recommend. A few of ours were light on the pork. Banh Bot Chien (3.5/5): I was dying to try this since there is really one famous spot for it. Their version is very good, but misses on the crispiness. The inside texture and pairing sauces and radish were all very good, it just needed a little more crisp. I love that they give extra garlic and spice and basically let you customize the intensity of your fish sauce to your preference. Paid with no issues via inKind at the counter. We definitely left stuffed and would come back!

As I dug deeper, I read Jando's glowing review word-for-word and found myself salivating. Well, I ventured out to S. I had read before that they used to be closed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open for dinner on Saturdays. (See my photos.) Anyhow, we walked in and found the place homey. Nothing fancy - just a nice, clean, homey Malaysian restaurant. Not too big, and not too small. We placed our order of roti canai, stir fried flat rice noodles, seafood sizzling tofu, and topped it off with a Malaysian milk tea. Oh my - we were satisfied and stuffed as a party of 2. We ended up boxing up almost 40% of the meal. The roti was near perfection - crispy, hot, flaky. The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. It included chunks of chicken and potato. You must absolutely order this one. I love me some stir fried flat rice noodles so we got that one with chicken. Overall, it was excellent. Portions were a tad smaller than I would like for the price. Also it could use a little bit of hot sauce so we asked for a side of sriracha which they gladly and quickly brought. The sizzling tofu - OMG so good. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much and the portions are huge. I'm not sure what the vegetable flavor would taste like but we tried the seafood one and have no regrets. Lastly the milk tea was just because we felt like splurging and it was also a great decision. The tea flavor itself is deep and the overall drink is very nice. We got it iced. And an honorable mention - we ran into Uncle Chin (at least we assume it was Uncle Chin) and told him his food was amazing. I think he really appreciated it. He seems like a super nice guy and I want his business to do really well. If that wasn't Uncle Chin then we talked to a random person and raved about the food... She proceeded to look at her funny and kind of gave her a bit of an attitude and said "what's warm tea?". My friend meant hot tea and ordered that. It was a weird vibe from her but we thought nothing of it. Then when it was time to order the food, I ordered the pork and mushroom xialongbao and even pointed to it. The lady proceeded to upsell and asked if we wanted to order the pork and crab version instead. I asked my friend if she wanted it and I just won't eat it and she said no. Then, the lady proceeded to say something about ordering pork and shrimp (we didn't understand) but we didn't say anything about it. We didn't confirm anything, we just didn't respond. Not sure if she assumed or what. We just wanted to order the pork and mushroom xialongbao. The one I pointed to. Then the food came out. I noticed the xialongbao had a tiny piece of shrimp at the top. I thought it was a mistake. I opened it up and saw a big piece of shrimp inside next to the pork. I thought, maybe the pork/mushroom xialongbao has shrimp too and thought nothing of it. I decided to eat around the shrimp and the broth itself was tasty. Then I decided to go ahead and ask her if the pork and mushroom xialongbao included shrimp, she said no. I told her -- "oh we ordered pork and mushroom, not shrimp. I'm allergic. I wouldn't order this." And instead of acknowledging the mistake, she says "I confirmed with you and your friend that you ordered the pork & shrimp." I then said "no, we didn't confirm this because I'm allergic". She said "well maybe your friend confirmed it". I looked at her funny because I was the one who placed the order, my friend didn't speak. I was frustrated so I walked back to my table and just decided to eat the rest of my food. The chefs in the back asked her what happened so I guess she told them. She came back to our table and offered a few pork and mushroom xialongbaos but still doubled down on the fact that we confirmed the pork and shrimp one. We didn't want it because at this point I was full and frustrated. This was an honest mistake but it just irked me that she kept on insisting that she didn't make a mistake. I wish she would have owned up to maybe mishearing me or whatever instead of insisting that she was right. I could have easily given this place 5 stars even if there was a mistake made if she was kinder about it. But her attitude was quite off putting and I'm not sure that I'll be back again.

Service was prompt and quasi friendly. I thought the broth was good despite having an overwhelming aroma of cinnamon. I requested for pho tuoi (fresh noodles) which are slightly bigger than the standard noodles they give you. However, I regretted this choice because many of my noodles were clumped together, distracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Additionally, I think there's a heavy usage of MSG in their broth because I felt loopy and very thirsty for water halfway through. Needless to say, I was only able to eat half of the generous serving. For those who are a fan of pho and appreciate generous portions, this place is definitely worth a visit. Their pho bowls are substantially larger than those I've encountered elsewhere, offering a potentially satisfying experience for the more voracious diner but for me, quantity is not enough of a reason to become a regular. Note: There's a $1 uncharge for pho tuoi (fresh noodles).

I…read morepicked Pho Guru because I drove by and saw a pho restaurant in this area, which made me curious to try it. We dined in for lunch. At first it was just us and one other table, but not long after, more people started coming in, probably for lunch as well. The restaurant is pretty large, with both tables and booths, plus a big table for large groups. This is what we ordered: Combo Rolls This comes as a sampler with five different types of spring rolls. Regular spring rolls, nem nuong rolls (fermented grilled pork), grilled chicken, grilled pork, and shrimp only. I really liked this idea because it lets you try everything without having to order each roll separately. My favorite was the nem nuong roll. Bun Bo Hue I do not eat pork blood or pork loaf, so I substituted them with more tendon and beef meatballs. Because of that, I cannot really comment on how the pork tasted. The broth was okay but a little lacking in flavor. After I asked for shrimp paste, it tasted much better. Bo Kho (Beef Stew) This is my husband favorite dish, so he always orders it whenever a place has it. He ordered the one come with bread as dipping. He did not really like this one. It was not bad, but not great either. The flavor was missing, and the broth was more watered down than how he prefers it. Still, it is worth trying if you like beef stew. Overall, our experience was just okay. The service was fine, but the food did not leave a strong impression on us. We did not stay long since my husband had to get back to work. I would come back to try more dishes, especially pho. Since their name is Pho Guru, I feel like the pho might be better. Plus we dined in around Fall time in 2025 so I think the place would have so change with out last experience
