I was seated promptly and paid for my meal just as quickly. The waiter was attentive and my food arrived pretty fast. The burgers and fries are always great as well and CHEAP! Yum! We stop here often after an evening at the Philharmonic. I mean, who doesn't think "burgers and fries" while listening to Debussy? We go through the drive through which is sufficiently slow that my husband can exit the vehicle, go inside the Steak 'n Shake building proper, and visit the loo. We had a wonderful and enthusiastic waitperson at the window and even though they initially forgot my husband's order of lemonade, were otherwise solicitous. I love getting a cherry Coke here, except it seems this has changed. You used to be able to get a Coke with cherry syrup. The beverage I received was neither cherry nor Coke. My other obsession are the cheese fries. The container of cheese no longer provides the slightly cheddar flavor, but rather a sort of bland yellow substance. Regardless, the fries are crispy and hot and when you're hungry, the taste of the cheese becomes less important. For a late night snack, this is one of the few options in Naples. The sidewalks roll up early. I know there are a plethora of ginchy bars on Third Ave at this time of night, but that ain't what I have in mind. read more

I don't know what happened to this Steak N Shake. I've given it a few more visits but this last drive thru was THE WORST. Sign on menu said "no milkshakes". The guy taking the order wouldn't even speak. The burgers were ICE cold, the fries ICE cold, chilli warm, threw the bag at us and no straws and wouldn't come back to window. What a disappointment for a Naples restaurant. Where are the Owners/Managers? The inside is dirty, the whole place is run by kids who could care less. The attitude is of the employees are terrible. I was really concerned about the food I've eaten at this place. I say, go to McDonalds on Airport for fast food = it is WAY better than this dirty place. This is the only Steak N Shake in town so if you like them, this is it. This place is hit or miss on service. The drive through is generally a good bet. Consistency is not a plus here with food and service. Yesterday we waited to be seated over 10 minutes. They were obviously short staffed or were they? The first greeter told us it would be a few minutes. She went back to help with finished orders and then was drinking behind the back ledge. Break time? Couldn't see what she was doing but that would have better been out of someone who is waiting's sight so we didn't think she was just standing there drinking while we were waiting. The one girl moving quickly looked like she was trying to do everything. The line was just as long to check out. The girl seating the people in front of us was asked to check out the customers waiting to pay. Her comments were not encouraging and one of someone who was stressed from trying to do everything. Tables were not clean, even the empty one had dirty surfaces. I didn't want to have to wait for a seat, wait for service and then after all that waiting, wait to pay my hard earned money? We decided to leave and missed those great happy hour milkshakes. My advice.... Management needs to do some customer service training with the employees. Yes this probably isn't a high paying elite job but seriously.... I would not have been so upset if a little positive communication and some other basics of customer service had been done. And please don't use being short staffed as an excuse (although this was not used this trip), no matter how short you are the customer should still feel important. Just apologize, say you are really busy and will get to me as soon as you can and look busy and follow through with getting to me. And a smile would have gone a long way. This establishment has went downhill fast. Don't go on Sunday. We stood at the entrance along with others for at least 1/2 hour before someone would even acknowledge us. It just doesn't make any sense how this location can be so bad. I've been here several times and each time it got progressively worse. My friends rave about the one in their town so I thought today I would give it another try after avoiding it for over a year. I waited 25 minutes in the drive thru, (Which thankfully I wasn't on a lunch break) just to be met at the window by a girl who didn't say one word to me. Why? -Coffee was cold and old & 9:30 in the morning!!! -The order took 15+ minutes to be served, despite I was the only customer. -The cook has a rasta hair style, I actually like it, nothing against it, but he was not wearing any sanitary protection. -I was asked what kind of toasts I wanted, they didn't come with the order, when I told them, I was asked again by a different waitress, but they never brought them at all!! -They had to adapt the plate, since they ran out of sausage (yes!! a breakfast place out of sausage!!) The wait time is 30 minutes all the time it's a waste of time to go there. I've spoken to the manager countless times. My experience was awful. Went through the drive thru to pick up lunch. My burger was awful with hardly any toppings and no cheese. Didn't even get the toppings I ordered. My Oreo milkshake was awful with hardly any oreo in it at all. The person who took my order forgot it and they made it "on the fly" at the window. After basketball practice at the YMCA we along with my grandson went to your store for dinner. My grandson likes to have a burger and shake. We waited to be seated, 14 or so tables had not been bused, floor had standing water in one isle, never once got asked to be seated, when we started to leave no one even noticed, so we left and went to another restaurant. Tried again just last week....they weren't very busy & after we got seated we sat there quite some time & one waitress kept walking by our table ignoring us. Finally the couple @ the next table got up & left after getting no service. They at least had menus & placemats so we moved to that table & got ignored there too! It took me walking up to the counter to see if a manager was available!! The one waitress that was ignoring us came over with silverware & said it wasn't her table but she would wait on us!!!! Understaffed. Long wait for food. Cold upon arrival. Has the floor ever been cleaned?

I've grown up around Steak and Shakes in the midwest.it's is one of my "go to" fast food places. But this place on Pine Ridge Rd in Naples is terrible. Service was awful. I went in about 3 PM, just to get an iced tea. I stood by the register for almost 10 minutes before anyone bothered to wait on me. And they were not crowded. Finally someone came up and took my order and then pointed out the area where I could leave my tip! (For the great service?) After he took my order, he disappeared. I finally walked back to the service station to see what was going on. Another girl saw me and yelled at him to get my drink. When I finally got my drink it was only half full because they ran out of iced tea. He said if I could wait a few minutes he would make more. Does anyone check that during the day??? I chose to take what was there and leave, but as I was waiting, I noticed how filthy the place was. I counted 12 dirty tables. There was trash all over the floor, near the dining area and the work station. This all seems to me to be the fault of poor management. read more

I love Steak 'n Shake. Meals are affordable and Burgers are so much better than the stuff they serve at McDonald's, Wendy's and Co. It's absolutely no problem that you have to wait a couple of minutes for your order as they prepare everything fresh. Milk Shakes are delicious too. I also love the 60's theme and the fact of being served. No comparison to all the junk food places. I never had a bad experience with that location. Ok, waiters are sometimes a little stressed, but hey, who wouldn't be when the place is filled to bursting. Go there at the later evening or during the day and you'll be happy. Also great is that they give big discounts if you come at night (open 24/7). I've been there at a Saturday night once. Not so easy to find good food at 2pm in the Naples area, especially not in off season. read more

Horrible place, and this is sad because while traveling throughout the country with the military came to really love the steak and shake franchises. How ever this specific location the horrid from the service the food the environment. The food came out wrong over cooked in oil still dripping while brining it to the table. It has been probably four years now that the Naples, FL Steak 'N Shake has been a catastrophe. Look at the reviews, past and present. Having complained to Corporate about this place I learned it is a Corporate-owned location. Seriously? This says all the wrong things about why this place is so messed up. Who is left to care if the company doesn't? After just one more visit in 2016 my wife and I swore never to go here again until the reviews improved. Hasn't happened. I guess no one cares whatsoever about this place. As some have said: It was ONCE a great fast-food restaurant. Now? Just an abysmal failure on all levels. On my first visit I found some waiters' clothes were very dirty, from shirt to apron, but I thought it was only this so I relieved. Our burger came out ok, tasty and on a soft bread, but our strawberry shake (extremely sweet) was ready at the time of paying our bill, I had already given it as lost. Our second experience made me think of leaving, but it was the only place open that hour ... the atmosphere inside the restaurant had a strong smell of sewage or vomit, disgusting, and the floor or tables were clearly sticky. The restaurant was almost empty, but we were placed next to tables that contained several open boxes and I felt myself eating in the stock. I needed to get up to ask something to waitress, who was very busy talking with her back to the hall. We went to pay and the attendant was on the cell phone, we did not know when she was talking to us or her important call. Food again ok. But service and cleanliness again disgusting. The manager was no help and a big jerk. Had a server come over to us and explain that she was not our server but her manager was yelling at her telling her that she was. Our food orders were wrong drinks were wrong half of the table had their food and cleaned their plates by the time the other half got their food. 2 of us didn't even get their drinks which were milkshakes till after they ate their food. Which they couldn't remember what the milkshakes were supposed to be. Our table had what we hope was ketchup all over it but it looked like blood. And there was milkshake all over the table I could see where the person before us cups were. It was disgusting. Well they also added stuff on to our bill that the table behind us had ordered. Ya for 2 people to eat a burger fries and 2 drinks and 1 milkshake would not be over $30 that was a pain to do that. When we finally got it fixed we also ordered a few milkshakes to go and my strawberry milkshake had a chunk of chocolate in it. Which the manager argued with me that there wasn't i put it on my plate. O and by the way I absolutely hate chocolate it makes me sick to the point where I will throw up. We were waiting on 3 milkshakes to go. Well two go out and the manager told me that they were not mine and he can't just give out free milkshakes. We just paid for them. We also had 1 more and even offering to bring out the receipt he argued with us until we finally got the milkshake. After that we were all standing outside and their were people from other tables saying that they were going to walk out on their bill because the service was sooooo bad and my grandma who was only paying for herself but her bill was also over $30. It was ridiculous. This place is horrible I totally recommend going across the street to McDonalds at least you won't get food poisoning over there. My son and I ate at this location, the order was delivered wrong, had to wait to fix correct order. We received our bill and I put a $20 bill on the check at the table. Our waitress informed us we needed to pay up front. I walked up to the register and gave the women the bill with the $20. She left the register area and went into the back of the restaurant. When she returned the $20 was gone, I told them I had given her a $20, they called the police! The police came and asked me to pay again and contact the manager. I paid again, and they had lost my coupons with the $20, so I paid $4.00 more than I should have. Upon leaving I called the manager who answered her cell phone and told me she wasn't the manager and that the manager was out of town without her cell phone????? I called the corporate office and filled a complaint, no follow up was ever received. Management was so rude it was like a bad dream. read more

We have been going to this location on our yearly vacations to Florida simply because we like the chain and its food, but this has to be the worst location I've ever been to. On this trip we went our first night in Naples around 9. When we walked in about five people were queued at the register waiting to pay. One couple gave up waiting and left cash. As usual at this location there seemed to be a lot of employees on break or leaving. One loud over stressed waitress was doing everything. When she seated us it was another five to ten minutes before we ordered and another fifteen to twenty before we got our food. The manager served our shakes and food, but wasn't getting the waitress, who had about ten tables of groups, anything she asked for. The manager told another employee to bus tables and he ignored her. When it came time for us to pay there was a woman waiting and she gave up as well and left cash on the table. We waited about fifteen minutes at the register because the manager had completely disappeared. The cooks just stared at us like we were stupid for waiting and three other tables formed a line behind us. We had no choice to leave cash as we only brought enough for a tip. Fortunately a brand new location opened in another place we frequently visit so we will never return to this location. read more

READ THIS FIRST: It can be an excellent value but service is more often than not, very bad. We should also keep in mind that because the check is average here it is so low that the servers make next to nothing in tips. Hence in the quality of service, you get what you pay for. Either way the food is usually what you expect. Decent for what it is. It is great for families and kids. Off hours are best to make wait time normal or even quick. On a few of our visits, we have had a college kid named Conner as our server. He is one of those people that are an asset to any organization. On the other side of the coin, when we walked in today, we waited for a few minutes while two employees sat at the counter playing a video game on a mobile phone in front of us and a manager(Dave Mallow, sp?), who ignored us as well. Eventually a server cameout, greeted us and sat us. If I go to a Steak N Shake its definitely for the kids and I do with an open mind and don't let myself get upset about service. Went there and ordered 2 burgers, one cheese fries and a single milkshake, this was my first time at a steak and shake and I expected much more. First of all, they gave us plastic utensils when others were dining with real, metal utensils. Our food came roughly 40 minutes after we ordered it, but that's not all. They had not brought out or shakes yet but I had been waiting for my food for so long I wanted to eat it. I ate one burger and decided to patiently wait for my milkshake. 30 more minutes passed and we had still not received our milkshakes. We tried to talk to the manager and to our waiter several times and they just told us it will be there soon. By then my food was cold so I just ate it, but usually people enjoy their food with beverages. We finally were able to get the manager to talk to us, and she was very rude. She was planning on charging me 10$ but she wasted two hours of my time and ruined my experience. The manager made our shakes for us instead of the workers in the kitchen. In the end I paid 3$ but still complete waste of my time. On the other hand the food was really good, the service just ruined the whole experience. read more

this is my first review- our experience today was so bad that I feel it should be written in the hope someone will manage this restaurant. We were at this S&S today. We were waiting to be seated. Plenty of tables but the wait staff were all talking or staring into space. So we got the menus by ourselves and seated ourselves. Then we had to wait for a server. No one came. So I walked to the area where all the servers were hiding out and asked for one. A young lady took our orders. We waited almost 30 minutes for our burgers and then they appeared on the serving shelf. We knew they were ours as we were the only people not eating. So after waiting 5 minutes ( I timed it) I had to find our waitress and tell her our food is ready. She said that it was not ours but with coaxing on my part she checked the ticket. And it was ours. Well despite the length of time we still didn't get a shake that was ordered. We asked about it and it was clear that she completely forgot about it. Finally it came. We ate and then were ready to leave but no bill. Again I gave her another 5 minutes but still no movement in our direction. So I had to fetch her again to get a bill. I don't understand how it could be so bad. She was a nice young girl. But she had no sense of table service at all. Through all of this the place was less than 25% full. There were plenty of staff around but none seemed busy or interested. it was so bad that it was almost humorous. read more

My husband & I have been coming to Florida for several years now. When we eat at Steak and Shake we usually eat in the dining room. Tonight, I came in to get a take-home order because we were watching football. I tried to call in the order but no one answered the phone. I went to the restaurant, placed my order & waited; and waited; and waited. I had ordered 2 shakes to go with our burgers & got them right away. They looked delicious! But as I kept waiting for my food, I watched the whip cream go from fluffy to a puddle of milk with the bright red cherries sinking to the bottom. All the people working in the kitchen saw me standing there. I finally yelled out that I'd like my food before the shakes turned to water. My bag of food had been sitting back there, ready, but no one thought to bring it to me! By the time I got home, the shakes were like milk & the food was cold! I'm not too sure I'll ever walk in the restaurant again! I am very disappointed in this particular store. Everyone has always been friendly & nice, even tonight.
